#Magu's Confirmation Debacle....

#EFCC vs #SSS

#Senate vs #Presidency

#Senate vs #EFCC

This is a pure case of #Corruption fighting back.

But it is obvious, with all these intrigues #PMB has lost control of his government and the earlier heads begin to roll the better for Mr President.

#Saboteurs all round his government including in his kitchen cabinet.

#Nigerians are watching closely and keenly...!!

OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT

PRESS RELEASE

FG APPROVES ADDITIONAL N4500 MONTHLY ELECTRONIC TABLET GRANT EACH FOR 200,000 N-POWER BENEFICIARIES

*ABOUT 150,000 OF THEM NOW VERIFIED & RECEIVING N30,000 MONTHLY STIPENDS

AT the last count 149, 669 Nigerian graduates of the 200,000 engaged by the Federal Government under the N-Power Volunteer Corps are now collecting their monthly stipends of N30,000 monthly having been physically verified and deployed across the 36 states and FCT.

According to Mr. Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant on Media & Publicity to the President, Office of the Vice President made this disclosure while giving an update today on the Social Investment Programmes of the Buhari administration .

Besides, Akande added that the Federal Government has also approved an additional N4500/monthly to all the 200,000 N-Power beneficiaries to purchase an electronic Tablet which would be loaded with different applications that would further enhance the skills of the beneficiaries and afford them additional training opportunities during the two-year duration of the job program.

This tablet grant is in conjunction with the Bank of Industry (BoI) who has extended an asset finance of 20 months to each of the 200,000 N-Power beneficiaries.
While each of the beneficiaries after being verified would select their choice of tablet amongst nine different BOI pre-approved vendors, the price ranges from N3,000 to N6,700 monthly deductions for the next 20months.

Therefore in some cases the N4500 tablet grant would cover the full monthly deduction cost while in other cases the graduate authorizes BOI to deduct the additional differential cost from their monthly stipends depending on the tablet chosen.
The Vice President’s Spokesman also noted that 6 of the 9 BOI pre-approved vendors are indigenous local brands in pursuit of the Buhari administration's push for Local Content.
He said almost 100,000 graduate N-Power beneficiaries have completed their orders for the devices as at press time, adding that the Bank of Industry is in charge of effecting the orders made. The plan is to conduct the order of the devices in two batches of 100,000 each, one after the other.
It was further disclosed that all the 149,669 N-Power beneficiaries now collecting their stipends have been physically verified and deployed, while their given bank account information have also been matched with the Bank Verification Number.
The SSA said that, in December, about 112,475 of the N-Power graduate beneficiaries received the N30,000 monthly stipends, and the number came close to 150,000, both in January and February meaning about that number are now receiving their up-to-date stipends from the N-Power Volunteer Corps.
Akande also noted that now beneficiaries across the 36 States of the Federation, and the FCT have been verified, totaling the 150,000 figure. He said the balance 50,000 of the 200,000 beneficiaries engaged by the FG are those who so far could not be paid for various reasons.
This includes those who were disqualified during verification on the basis of age-over 35, and inadequate academic qualification. The N-Power is for university, polytechnics and College of Education graduates only. There were also some of the selected 200,000 who were ‘no shows’ meaning they simply did not report for verification at all.
Others who could not be paid were those whose personal information details were faulty, including those whose marital status have changed. There are also those who used different names and differing personal information. And lastly there are also those whose banking information simply do not match with their BVN banking records.

In the case of those whose marital status have changed, Akande explained that their information is now being updated through the various States and FCT Focal Persons and then they would be represented for payment. He also disclosed that those who have sought redeployment to other states are among the 50,000 and in such cases, they will be considered alongside those to be replaced from the N-Power waiting list where necessary.
The process for the replacement of those who did not show up and those disqualified would also resume shortly to bring the number back to 200,000 for the first batch of the 500,000 promised by the Buhari administration.

Politics / PDP Crisis: Propaganda Won’t Help Us, Dickson Tells Makarfi, Others by masterpiece86: 12:19am On Mar 15, 2017
The Governor of Bayelsa State and Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Reconciliation Committee, Seriake Dickson, on Tuesday described the comments by the Makarfi faction of the party, on the submission of his committee’s report as “mere propaganda”.
According to him, rather than embark on name-calling, propaganda and outright lies, it was high time the party came together in the interest of peace.
The governor said despite the sacrifices made by members of the committee, it was unfortunate that some persons within PDP were making “uncharitable comments” on the report which was meant to salvage the party.
Mr. Dickson in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, called on everyone to proffer their own solutions on how to salvage the party, instead of seeking to pull down the little gains that have been made by the committee.
He said, “My attention has been drawn to series of half-truths and litany of lies being peddled by some leaders, stakeholders and members of our party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the recent submission of the report of the reconciliation committee which I chaired.
“In my usual character, I am not disposed to joining issues with anyone or group especially on a matter that I think can be settled internally. More so, when some of the key actors are not sincerely committed to bringing an end to the festering crisis that has set us back as a party.”
Mr. Dickson explained that he had never supported Ali Modu Sheriff, but said since the Appeal Court had recognised him as leader of the party, the laws had to be obeyed.
Mr. Dickson said, “First, let me state in clear terms that the ongoing blame game, name-calling and propaganda will not in any way help us. Rather we are by such actions de-marketing ourselves and playing into the hands of the All Progressive Congress (APC) which appears to be the major beneficiary of the crisis rocking our party.
“What we should be doing now is to look for an amicable solution to come out of where we are, rally round ourselves and form a bond like never before since INEC had released the timetable for the 2019 general elections.
“Secondly, everyone especially in the PDP governors forum can testify that I never supported Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as national chairman. I strongly canvassed against his choice because he was new to our party.
“I felt that we needed a fresh face for a new beginning. But as a democrat I believe in the plurality of opinions which made me to tag along. Now with the Appeal Court judgment affirming him as the national chairman, it is only legal and strategic for all leaders of the party to engage him on a template such as what we have proposed.
“Our conviction is that the recommendations of the report chief of which is to hold a national unity convention will finally put an end to the hydra-headed crisis. It is important to also state that our recommendations are not cast in stones but at the moment the most likely way to get us out of where we are.
“Thirdly, I urge all party leaders and members who think they have a better solution outside what my committee has done to come forward with it for the interest of our great party. This is important and will help preserve the unity of the party”.

*Misconception of N-Power Scheme*

There are much misconceptions about the Social Intervention Program (N-Power) launched by FG to reduce the rate of unemployed graduates in the country, even some volunteers misunderstood the program.

The spokesman Pst Laolu Akande, stated that the volunteers are temporarily employed for 2 years to serve as *Assistant* at their places of deployment and earn 30k monthly stipend. He also said Volunteers can opt out of the program if employed elsewhere with better offer, one of the reasons they asked for the submission of BVN to detect those that will gain employment within the stipulated year and stop the payment of monthly stipend into their account.

So disheartening that some Volunteers allowed some authorities at their place of deployment to compel them to work as State/Federal permanent staff which earns 3-times of their monthly stipend with the mindset of been staffed after the 2 years temporary engagement.

Though, its good to have a positive mindset but remember FG will hire more *(350,000 graduates)* captured in 2017 budget, do you know the numbers to be captured in 2018? And most of the current volunteers will be passed out as *NYSC Corp Members* with discharged certificate after 2 years to start looking for job again.

Rational thinkers will get my point as this stage, FG never promised to staff any volunteers, it is of human (Nigerians) to think of such but think of the beneficiaries of *SURE-P* are they staffed?

Dear Volunteers, utilize this period to search for other means of sustainability and better offer.

Misplacement of priority. He putting on custom uniform or not will neither add nor subtract anything to his job nor will it force a change of custom policies.

It baffles me in this country, when some individuals are handling a government agency or parastatal and managing it well and the head is receiving good will and enconiums this senators and reps will begin to develop bad belle asking stupid questions.

Interesting development. If an applicant is posted to a far distance or an area where is not fixable is to reject the posting outright. No dulling. This rubbish posting...the aim of NPOWER will be defeated. We were told posting should not be more than 500-1000m away from the residence of each applicant or better still his/her area but with this sudden shift or departure from the "status quo ante'' it will leave much to be desired.

My cousin whose name fall under secondary school, has been posted to two different schools and he kept rejecting those posting. if the officials don't do the needful people will continue to reject their posting and placement and we'll end up running in circle and but to no avail.
It will further compound the already problematic postings and will further stretch the workings of the officials generally and the focal person in particular.

Anyway, i will keep my fingers crossed to see how events unfold. As things stand now am indifferent Gaskiya...!!

Buhari Requests N157.75bn To Hire Additional 350,000 Graduates - Presidency

ABUJA – President Muhammadu Buhari has requested the appropriation of N157.75 billion in the 2017 budget estimates for the N-Power scheme to hire additional 350,000 unemployed graduates under the N-Power Volunteer Corps.
Mr. Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant on Media & Publicity to Acting President Yemi Osinabjo made the disclosure on Sunday while giving update on the Social Investment Programmes, SIPs, of the Buhari’s presidency in a statement.
He said that out of the N-Power 2017 N157 billion budget ” 350,000 unemployed graduates more would be hired and trained, alongside 50,000 non-graduates youths to be engaged as artisans and in other creative ventures”.
He also stated that “Under the N157.75 also, a sum of N4.5B has been earmarked for the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, STEM program to support young Nigerians in building skills in those disciplines.”
Akande told Nigerians to expect more this year especially in the area of implementation, saying that all of the SIPs are now undergoing different stages of implementation.
“While we were able to engage 200,000 unemployed graduates last year, we will do 350,000 more this year,” he assured, adding that some of the teething problems are giving way to lessons that would smoothen implementation under the 2017 budget.

From the twitter handle of Laolu Akande.

As soon as states submit verified lists pay process starts. There are also cases where people gave a/c info that did not match.

In such cases, unmatched info has to be fixed. Also we are fixing request for deployment and replacements too. So far majority been paid.
Politics / Another Federal Lawmaker Defects To APC by masterpiece86: 7:48pm On Feb 21, 2017
Emmanuel Ukoette, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Mr. Ukoette, who represents Oruk Anam/Ukanafun Federal Constituency, Akwa Ibom State, won election to the House under the platform of the PDP.
The federal lawmaker announced his defection, Monday, in a letter he wrote to Gideon Samani, the Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters to President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said in the letter that he was leaving the party because of “the rudderless nature of the (party) leadership”.
The PDP has been thrown into a protracted leadership crisis after the party lost the 2015 presidential election to the APC. The party has two separate factions laying claim to the position of its national chairman.
A factional leader of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff, last week secured a victory at the Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt, which declared him the authentic chairman.
Ahmed Makarfi and his faction have rejected the judgment and have indicated their intention to head to the Supreme Court.
Mr. Ukoette’s defection is coming 32 days after a PDP senator, Nelson Effiong, also from the state, defected to the APC on January 19.
Mr. Effiong had hinted that more senators would be leaving the PDP.
Mr. Ukoette told PREMIUM TIMES that besides the “animosity” within the PDP, there was so much uncertainty about the future of the party.
He also said that he and his federal constituency have been marginalized in the state.
“The sharing formula of the dividends of democracy in the PDP has been faulty, and I have made persistent complaints about this without redress.
“I feel that to key my people into the mainstream of national development, my movement to the APC is inevitable.
“I am also seeing a situation whereby I will team up with other progressives to salvage Akwa Ibom from the grip of a certain few hawks who have formed an oligarchy in order to enslave and perpetually keep Akwa Ibom in a state of ruin,” he said.
The lawmaker said it was erroneous to think that the PDP is in control of Akwa Ibom State.
“I want to tell you that come 2019, the APC shall win Akwa Ibom. I want it to be on record that I said it,” he said.

Politics / Supporting Ali Sheriff “only way” to Save PDP from Destruction – Ben Bruce by masterpiece86: 6:57am On Feb 20, 2017
Respect for the court ruling that affirmed Ali Sheriff as the authentic chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party is the “only way” to salvage Nigeria’s troubled opposition party, Ben Bruce has said.
Mr. Bruce, a PDP Senator from Bayelsa State, disclosed his position on the party’s leadership crisis during the weekend via a one-paragraph statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES.
The Port Harcourt Division of the Court of Appeal had on Friday annulled the May 21, 2016 national convention that gave birth to the national caretaker committee led by Ahmad Makarfi, a former Kaduna Governor, and backed by the PDP Governors’ Forum and Board of Trustees.
The Makarfi faction has opposed the ruling, indicating intention to head to the Supreme Court.
“I am supporting Ali Modu Sheriff because it is the only way to preserve the party,” said Mr. Bruce, adding that: “We will work with Ali Modu Sheriff and go to a convention.”
“Right now, PDP is on a course towards destruction and abiding by the judgement of the court is the only thing that can save us.”
PDP lost Nigeria’s presidential election in 2015 after 16 years of control.
Since its fall, the party has failed to offer serious opposition to the All Progressives Congress government of Muhammadu Buhari, leaving civil society organisations, activists and concerned citizens – with the power of social media – to offer criticisms amid worsening economic crisis and cases of deadly violence like the killings in Southern Kaduna and Agatu, Benue State.
“I therefore call an end to the fighting. And I am supporting Ali Modu Sheriff because it is the only way to preserve the party. Right now, what Nigeria has is a one-party state – there is no opposition. Enough is enough. The is the time for PDP to unite, we are a formidable force!
“The current bickering is childish and irrelevant. I am not in support of anymore litigation,” said Mr. Bruce.
The Sheriff faction also has the backing of Buruji Kashamu, a fugitive Senator from Ogun State.
The Makarfi faction has slated for Monday, a meeting at the International Conference Centre to discuss “crucial party matters” in the wake of the ruling that went against its leadership.
