Hmm! Interesting |
jackpot:Golden ratio -jamb and elementary math?!! Abba, there's God o. Lol. It's all good though. At least one will learn new things |
Nice one. I think we really need to analyse the level if questions that will be treated so as to know the category of participants. For instance, if the participants will include jambites/freshers, it might be unfair to them if 300/400 level questions for math students are used. I could remember miss Jackpot's wicked questions for the last edition(lol). So topics and questions should be selected based on general knowledge and basic mathematics. My own opinion though. |
Bukkiminat:lol, I like you for liking my hand-writing |
As for me, I'll continue to lend a hand to who advocates for it in as much as it's within my power.... |

nessie17:Ah! Possible bi ti bawo? I believe you know that perimeter is the sum of all the sides of a shape. So for a rectangle, L + B + L + B = P (Perimeter) 2L + 2B = P 2(L + B) = P L + B = P/2 Therefore, if perimeter of the rectangle is 30, then L + B = 30/2 = 15 And B = 15 - L. If you insist otherwise, try out this simple calculation. If the length of a rectangle is x and breadth is 30 - x, calculate the perimeter of the rectangle. See if you'll get 30 as your perimeter or not. #Peace |
nessie17:Then they were absolutely wrong. The breadth cannot be 30 - x if the length is x and PERIMETER is 30. Just not possible!!! |
nessie17:The options are wrong. The maximum possible area is 56.25m^2. From the question, perimeter is 30m P = 2(l + b) = 30 l + b = 15; l = 15 - b ______(i); Therefore ; Area = lb = (15-b)b A = 15b - b² dA/db = 15 - 2b For area to be max, dA/db = 0 Therefore, 15 = 2b b = 7.5 Sub. 7.5 for b in (i) l = 15 - 7.5 l = 7.5 Therefore at max, Area, lb = 7.5*7.5 = 56.25m^2 |
Seunvense:You'll see people trooping in in large numbers when information about the post utme surfaces, not even after the exam... |
It actually depends on the ROM and how you manage the battery! Check out my own screenshot in the picture below. Although I'm not a heavy user...
|
success254:exactly, 6P3 (6 permutation 3) for number 3 |
success254:3/5. You missed number 1 and obviously number 3 try again |
Why's this place so dry today na. Ok, I'm gonna trick you out with cheap math questions..... 1. A die is tossed twice. What is the probability of obtaining a total of 6 if both numbers are odd? 2. The average age of 3 children in family is 9 years. If the average age of their parent is 39 years, what's the average age of the whole family? 3. How many 3-digit numbers can be formed using the integers 1 to 6 if no integer occurs twice in a number? 4. Find the angle in degree which the line x -√3y = 0 makes with the positive y-axis 5. If the equation 6 - kx + 2x^2 = 0 has equal roots, find k^2 + 4 |
thaotech:yeah! You aced the questions, although you could have done better by adding the appropriate units to the answers.... |
Umartins1:Weldone bro! Although it's theta and not titre, but then, who cares? **winks** Good Mawnin to y'all |
horpeyemmi66:What happened na? You only got 3 and 5, check them again bro |
Romance-machine? I typed v-i-b-r-a-t-o-r and it's automatically changing it |
Mathematics 1. A man and wife went to buy an article costing N400. the woman had 10% of the cost and the man 40% of the remainder. How much did they have altogether? 2. A bag contains 5 black, 4 white and x red marbles. If the probability of picking a red marble is 2/5 find the value of x 3. A sector of a circle is bounded by two radii 7cm long and arc length 6cm. find the area of the sector. 4. Find the slope of the curve y = 2x^2 + 5x - 3 at (1,4) 5. If the shadow of a pole 7m high is ½ its length, what is the angle of elevation of the sun, correct to the nearest degree? Physics: 1. What must be the distance between an object and a converging lens of focal length 20cm to produce an erect image two times the object height? 2. What is the wavelength of the first overtone of a note in a closed pipe of length 33cm? 3. The range of wavelengths of visible spectrum is 400nm – 700nm the wavelength of gamma rays is: (A) Longer than 700nm (B) shorter than 700nm but longer than 400nm (C) 550nm (D) shorter than 400nm (E) infinite 4. In a ripple tank experiment, a vibrating plate is used to generate ripples in the water, if the distance between two successive troughs in 3.5cm and the wave travels a distance of 31.5cm in 1.5s, calculate the frequency of the vibrator 5. A tap supplies water at 26°C while another supplies water at 82°C. If a man wishes to bath with water at 40°C, what is the ratio of the mass of hot water to that of cold water? |
horpeyemmi66:Thumbs up |
horpeyemmi66:You don't seem to get my point, infact, you didn't have to go through all the stress. What I meant was that, the effect of the supplied heat was not stated. Yes, you're right about the fact that since a temperature change wasn't involved/ stated in the question, then it should be latent heat-related, but then, the heat supplied might not be enough to completely melt the 30g of ice. And since calculation can't be made on mere assumptions, I feel that little detail must be added for clarity sake. However, if you think otherwise, I rest my case and it's all good. There's no point creating an argument over it. #Shalom |
horpeyemmi66:Ok! You forgot to mention the effect of the heat supplied. If it just melted the ice completely or raised raised the temperature by some degrees as in: 80% of the heat supplied to a block of ice at 0°C completely melts 30g of ice. Calculate the total heat energy supplied. (Specific latent heat of Ice= 336J/g)as opposed to this: 80% of the heat supplied to a 30g block of ice at 0°C. Calculate the total heat energy supplied. (Specific latent heat of Ice= 336J/g) |
horpeyemmi66:Please modify, incomplete question. Although most people got the message you're trying to pass across..... |
Like I said earlier, utme and post utme have a scope. I can also tell you that there are lots of things we can teach one another on here, trust me. We all have questions that may pose problems for O'level candidates but that wouldn't help the cause of aspirants here. I rest my case here #Peace |
It's getting hotter in here, mehn! UI is in big trouble. |
enry54:If I hear! I can say it with all authority that jamb will never set such question and neither will any school for PUTME. Because like I said earlier, it's beyond the scope of UTME even if as you put it, it's in the syllabus. For the fact that the topic is part of the syllabus doesn't mean they have to go deep to this level. For instance, when you check the math syllabus, you have calculus in it but there is a limit to which they can go in calculus questions (scope). Nevertheless, I believe horpeyemmi66 has done a good job up there. That should be the correct answer if I'm not mistaken. Good morning to y'all |
enry54:For candidates preparing for post utme? Way off the scope IMO |
A very cheap math question to start the day. The lengths of the minor and major arcs of a circle are 54 cm and 126 cm respectively.Calculate the angle of the major sector. Good morning guys. Wish y'all a stress-free day |
Anyway, if my assumptions are correct, then the internal resistance, r = R/2. See picture below
|
OGOJNR:I mean the question is not well structured..... I don't want to work on assumptions. |
