Foreign AffairsMozambique Says 5 Citizens Killed In ‘xenophobic Attacks’ In South Africa by Mattswaggz(op): 5:18pm On Jun 02
The violence prompted 300 Mozambicans to return home by their own means over the weekend, with more than 500 still in the country now beginning the official repatriation process.

At least five Mozambican nationals have been killed in “xenophobic attacks” in South Africa over the weekend, the Mozambican government said, marking the first deaths officially linked to country-wide protests against undocumented immigration.

About 800 Mozambicans got caught up in violence that broke out in the southern coastal city of Mossel Bay on Friday, the government press office said in a statement received on Tuesday.

“Regrettably, seven Mozambican citizens have died, five of them as a direct consequence of the xenophobic attacks and the other two as a result of a road accident, when they were travelling in a private vehicle on their way back to Mozambique,” the statement said.

The violence prompted 300 Mozambicans to return home on Saturday, said the statement.

“The remaining just over 500 have since been sheltered in a safe location in the Western Cape Province, and as of today, 1 June, the process of their repatriation to Mozambique is already underway,” it said.

South African police said on Sunday they were investigating the deaths of two men at an informal settlement in Mossel Bay, a port town about 380km (236 miles) east of Cape Town, where xenophobic attacks had been reported.

They did not say whether the deaths were linked to the protests. It was also not immediately clear what nationalities the two men were.

But the area mayor, Dirk Kotze, voiced “deep concern and dismay at the current xenophobic attacks where people have been murdered, houses burned and families displaced”.

The region has seen anti-migrant protests similar to those reported in the financial capital Johannesburg, Durban and parts of the Eastern Cape province in recent weeks.

South Africa has faced recurring waves of xenophobic violence since 2008, when dozens of migrants were killed and thousands displaced in attacks across the country. Similar flare-ups occurred in 2015 and 2021.

The latest spike in anti-immigrant tensions comes as political parties seek support before local government elections in November.

I have been saying this, without serious protest, no democracy can work. Especially african leaders, they so selfish. US might have given them small US dollars, small properties here and there and boom, they can sell out their entire country.
The day Africans start making life a hell for their leaders, things will never change. Also, why are these forien countries so wicked? Like why? Like why cant they just leave us alone.
Kenyans have showed recently that they won't be accepting any bull shit from their leaders....while here in Nigeria tribalism and religious sentiments is the order of the day......Nigerians fail to realize that this incompetent leaders unite beyond tribal and religious lines to achieve their aim while they (the people) are here being used as pawns in bigger games.
Foreign AffairsRe: Protest Outside Kenya’s Planned US Ebola Quarantine Centre by Mattswaggz(op): 10:29am On Jun 02
Nice one from Kenyans taking their destinies in their own hands and not allowing some so called leaders make decisions they aren't comfortable with unlike some certain west African country whose citizens have grown docile over the years.... imagine just waking up and setting up a facility to harbor victims of a dangerous virus where such cases weren't recorded and expecting the citizens to just accept it just like that.

Nonetheless, this one that they're preparing for a potential ebola outbreak maybe there is something going on that we don't know about and I just hope it won't be another COVID pro Max saga....that lockdown and other bizarre rules were unbearable not to think about ebola that have a way higher fatality rate compared to COVID.... should a massive outbreak occur COVID might just be child's play.

Foreign AffairsProtest Outside Kenya’s Planned US Ebola Quarantine Centre by Mattswaggz(op): 10:28am On Jun 02
Hundreds protest near the site of the planned facility, which US officials say would serve Americans who have been exposed to Ebola.

Hundreds of people have taken to the streets in central Kenya to protest a planned Ebola quarantine facility at a military base that would take in United States nationals.

Demonstrators rallied on Monday in the city of Nanyuki, days after Kenya’s High Court ordered the suspension of the plan. The suggestion that Kenya should host people exposed to the virus, an outbreak of which has killed over 200 people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and neighbouring Uganda, has sparked anger in the country, which has recorded no cases of the virus.

Footage obtained by the Reuters news agency showed a crowd of about 100 people on roads leading to the Laikipia airbase – site of the planned facility – blowing whistles and some riding atop a pickup truck.

Smoke could be seen rising from something burning on the road. The agency said police and the military had increased their presence on roads leading to the airbase.

US officials have said that a 50-bed unit is planned at the base to serve US citizens who have been exposed to the virus but are still asymptomatic.

However, a lawsuit arguing that the site could endanger public health, given Kenya’s fragile health system, and that the agreement lacked transparency, was accepted by Kenya’s top court on Friday.

The US government has said it intends to commit $13.5m towards Kenya’s Ebola preparedness efforts. However, few details regarding the planned centre have been released.

Health Minister Aden Duale said on Saturday that the agreement was part of ‌a wider push to strengthen emergency response systems, adding that the quarantine centre is intended for “everyone” and not exclusively for US nationals.

The site was expected to have become operational last Friday, according to US officials. A number of military aircraft flew in and out of Nanyuki late last week and over the weekend, in what diplomats and experts said appeared to be part of ongoing preparations, despite the court order.

‘Picketing for our lives’
Patrick Wahome, one of the demonstrations’ organisers, told Reuters that the protesters wanted the facility to be shut down for good by Tuesday, June 9.

“Nanyuki is a very small town. The military personnel who serve the base … live with us. Our kids go to the same schools and that means if anyone is infected, we are all infected,” he said. “We are picketing for our lives.”

Malin Ndegwa said Kenya should not be exposed to the virus by hosting foreigners when it is not the epicentre of the outbreak.

“Why are they not doing it in the DRC (Congo)? Why are they not doing it in Uganda? Why must they bring it here?” he asked.

“We are saying, we categorically, no negotiations, no public participation, we want nothing. We want that facility taken out of our town, we want it taken out of Kenya,” he told the Associated Press news agency.

Life is not always calculated like this ooh
Have seen a girl who had two children at home and still went ahead to marry the richest man from my place then she changed her family's story

I have seen a stark illiterate get opportunity to work for a woman as a maid and then the woman took her abroad and she married a white man

I have seen a bricklayer whose very poor wife from a very poor background changed her husband's story after her brother made it and remembered her.

I as a person is a testimony of the fact that life has no calculation
If you've ever wondered why Nigeria is like this then know that this kind of mentality is a major contributory.....so because one or two people took a dangerous risk and it paid off means it's no longer a risk or it's no longer a dangerous idea or what....there are people who have also succeeded in moving drugs to dangerous places and made it in life....yuu can also join them with this ya mentality.

FamilyRe: At What Age Should a man Find His Feet In Life? by Mattswaggz: 1:33pm On May 30
franchasofficia:
When God and his destiny decides.

The race of life is not for the swift or for the wise or for the strongest or for the most hardworking or the smartest or the most intelligent or for the most beautiful/handsome, but of God that showeth mercy to whom He had decided to show mercy.

Look around you, there are very smart and intelligent people that are still struggling with life. There are strong people that are struggling to survive. There are hardworking men that are very broke and poor. There are very beautiful ladies that are struggling to find a partner while some are married and regretting or struggling to feed in that marriage. There are some handsome guys that are struggling to find just one woman to be with them. On the contrary, there are very dull people that are excelling in life beyond imagination. There are lazy people that are rich and famous. There are ugly women married to very rich and influential men. There are rich ugly women. There are ugly guys married to the hottest women you can only imagine, and etc.

So as a man you can decide that you will stand on your feet before you turn 30yrs or 35yrs and God will say He will bless you abundantly beyond your imagination before you even reach 30yrs.

God can decide to make it 50yrs, if thats your destined time, no matter how smart or hard you work, you will keep struggling and failing until you hit 50yrs and you will just realize that everything you lay your hands on will start working, even the things you once failed trying to do in the past, the stars will start aligning in your favor once you reach your God destined time.

Some people will say its all lies but they are saying it because they are destined to say it right now.

No human can run beyond his or destiny in life. Life is spiritual, we are only a physical manifestation of our spiritual being.
This is part of the kind of mentality that keeps ur race backward while the Europeans, China, Americans continue to grow and flourish.

The "sole messiah" as you chose to call it is the CATALYST.

We have mahatma Gandi, Nelson Mandela, Fidel Castrol, Lee Kuan Yew etc. These are men who ignited the change in the respective countries and I identify PO as the man that can do the same in Nigeria.

As for the multilingual nature of Nigeria being a challenge. I don't think so.

America 🇺🇸 has the highest number of spoken languages in the world 🌎 (I stand corrected). We have virtually all countries represented in America yet it did not affect there unity.

There was a time Nigerians were so unity. At least I was old enough to know that.

Then I remember how people will freely give out food and water to the herders.

We can get back to that era. We need that "sole messiah" that will galvanise the people towards a better Nigeria 🇳🇬.
America is majorly English speaker and them maybe French and Spanish......other languages could be immigrant who mostly migrated after the appropriate system have already been put in place....I am not talking about present America but the one you were talking about back then.

Someone has got to try.

As I suggest, make effort to watch the documentary titled "men who built America".

The president that set the change in motion was sponsored by cutthroat businessmen that what the rot to continue but when he came in he did otherwise.

The decay in this country is deeper than anyone can imagine but if any change must happen it got to start with the head.

Someone have got to try.
Someone has to try but if we look at America as well and Nigeria we will still see that Nigeria's situation is much tougher.....at least there weren't plenty languages in America back then and one religion was dominant which would make speaking with one voice and sharing a similar goal more achievable but Nigeria's own will be more difficult.....anyway someone has to try like you said and we all have to try as well....we mustn't wait for some sole messiah.
BusinessRe: Finance, Insurance Sector Hits ₦1.93 Trillion As GDP Growth Slows To 3.8% by Mattswaggz: 2:10pm On May 29
Tenses:
I have had a frank discussion with Nairalanda1 and I told him most of his solutions he proffered are similar to that of PO.

I would want you to look up on the documentary, "men who built America ".

America 🇺🇸 was as corrupt, if not more than today's Nigeria. It took just one president to set the path of which today's America is known.

I don't expect PO to magically fix the country over night but it's the transformational changes that he will set on motion that will be built on by successive government that I look forward to.

I'll will leave you with a quote from Peter Obi

"If the head is not corrupt, you'll cut corruption by 50%".
Okay....at least you do have some understanding of the root problems....now you know that Obi would like to pick Kwakwaso as his VP(same man entangled in the present US terrorism networking investigations)..... you've also seen him made huge donations to the North(a form of appeasement )and also we've seen pics with him and gumi as well.

Now all these are strategies because he(Obi) at this point in time has already realized that the system doesn't recognize real/legit/original.....one must form alliance with certain questionable characters and should those characters chose to help anyone achieve anything it'll be at a cost.....which will now mean that it's almost impossible to get there on a clean slate and effect the much needed change. To get there on a clean slate, you'll need the citizens to back you up and be willing to d*e to protect you and ur votes which is also almost impossible when you have tribalism, religious extremism/bigotry, self centeredness, illiteracy, disunity etc.

I repeat again.... dealing with Nigeria's problems must be spearheaded from the grassroots..... it's too complex to be a one man thing.....their must be a change of mentality, goals, views, desires etc by majority of average Nigerians before you'll see the Nigerian dream come to pass....do you think you think the people that frustrated GEJ government will just sit down and fold their arms while Obi dismantle the present system which benefits them?. undecided ......and those people I am talking about aren't just the few elite one's, they have pawns they could easily use religion, poverty, illiteracy to manipulate ooo.
