Politics / Re: Governor Wike Bans Street Protests, Condemns Biafra Protest by Maximiller(m): 7:36am On Nov 11, 2015 |
Read the press statement below.. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has banned all forms of street protests in the state, condemning the street protests by the Indigenous People of Biafra which have crippled commercial activities in the state. The governor declared : "let no one be in doubt of the resolve of the Rivers State Government and the security agencies to maintain law and order at all cost within the State and preserve the unity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria." In a state-wide broadcast on Tuesday night, Governor Wike decried the movement of protesters from neighbouring States into Rivers State, noting that they have inflicted injuries on other citizens going about their lawful businesses. He said: "Majority of these individuals have come from neighbouring States and in the course of these protests, disrupted social and economic activities, damaged properties, assaulted and inflicted injuries on other citizens going about their lawful endeavours." "While individuals and groups are free to exercise their freedom of expression, they must do so peacefully and strictly within the bounds of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. No individual or group has the right, whatsoever, to disturb public peace and order, threaten the safety of the public and create fear and an atmosphere of insecurity in the State or any part thereof." "The right of any group of persons to agitate for their perceived rights cannot be allowed to infringed on the rights of other Nigerians, especially the people of Rivers State to remain an integral component of the Federal Republic of Nigeria." Banning all forms of street protests, Governor Wike : "Consequently, after due consultations with the members of the State Security Council, and in exercise of my constitutional responsibility to preserve the safety, security and corporate integrity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it is hereby ordered that all forms of street protests, demonstrations, rallies or unlawful gatherings associated with the agitations for the secession of any group from the Federal Republic of Nigeria are banned in Rivers State. " Any person or group who violates this ban or acts in any manner prejudicial to the interest of peace and security would be arrested and prosecuted. " The governor commended security agencies for their mature handling of the the protests so far, urging them to continue to work in the right direction. Culture / Agulu:nigerian Village Where Man And Crocodiles Live In Harmony by Maximiller(m): 11:52pm On Nov 01, 2015 |
The crocodiles at Aguku Lake in Aniocha Local Government Area of Anambra State are different in many ways. Numbering about three hundred, the crocodiles are human friendly. Indeed, they are gatekeepers of the community, so to say. Hence they do not kill but rather protect the people. They also hear human voices and hearken to them. So, the crocodiles are regarded as sacred beings and cannot be killed. At noon, they appear at the bank of the lake basking in the sun to get the temperatures they desire. According to Mr Sunday Ogu alias Ayaka, a traditionalist, it is sacrilegious to kill a crocodile at Agulu Lake. He volunteered that anyone who does that even in secret will be beset with problems of unimaginable proportion. “Anybody who kills a crocodile at the lake will suffer in several ways whether he was seen or not. For instance, if the person is a billionaire, he can become a beggar within a short time. In fact, anything can happen to the person. So, nobody dares to do that,” he stated. Ayaka explained that anybody who kills a crocodile must atone for the sacrilege before he can be set free. The nature of penance, according to him, will depend on the demands of the deity. Myths and mysteries Indeed, there are many myths and mysteries swirling about the lake. For instance, it is a taboo to go fishing in the lake so as not to disturb the peace of the crocodiles that are revered by the locals. It was gathered that in the past, the crocodiles had saved the town from foreign invaders hence they are highly regarded. A local source said: “We learnt from our forbearers that the crocodiles saved Agulu people from powerful enemies who came to eliminate them. During wars, the crocodiles transformed into beautiful ladies and lured the enemies into the lake where they drowned. Another side of the story had it that the enemies disappeared without trace”. Even today, Agulu Lake remains an uncommon development. It is home to traditional worshippers who use it for various spiritual exercises such as making sacrifices and exorcising evil spirits from people. The water is also believed to contain healing property for all manner of ailments. It is also the source of Idemili River, which serves different communities in Anambra State. Inside crocodiles’ conclave Daily Sun was at the rare and extraordinary location recently and got a special welcome from the sacred reptiles. It was like a fairytale, like a stranger than fiction kind of tale. On arrival in Ogidi this Thurday morning, the reporter and his guide were directed to a priest, Mr Chukwudi Nwanweke Nkwalu whose shrine is located close to the lake. By way of introduction, he described himself as “the Akajiofo Idemili Diodo Umuowele, Agulu. I am the head of Idemili, the person looking after the lake. I met some of our forbearers such as Obi Echenya, Nkenke Enyi, Nwankwo and others. They were the people who handed over the ofo (mantle) to me. They were the people who said that I should forge ahead; that I would neither stumble nor fall. Whatever that is been done in Agulu Idemili Umuowele, I must be the head or leader. No one can come out and challenge my headship. Even all those who employ it into one use or another, they still come to me and I will say how things will be. I am addressed as Akajiofo and Ewelata Ozo in Umuowele”. When told that my mission was to see the mystery crocodiles that hear and hearken to human voices, the youthful priest said that certain items should be provided before one could be taken to the lake. The items were kolanuts, few days old chick, nzu (clay) and white fowl. After these items were presented, the priest took the small group to the bank of the river. Time was about 3.00pm. On getting there, the priest stepped into the lake and began to speak to the crocodiles. No crocodile was in sight and the river was placid. He told the crocodiles that some dignitaries were around to see them, urging them to come out and welcome the guests. Telling them that the guests brought gifts for them, he broke the kolanuts and threw the portions into the lake. He also broke the native clay and the pieces into the river. Suddenly, a crocodile appeared from the distance and started coming towards the priest. After a while, it went under the water, out of sight. The priest went to another side of the lake and called out to the crocodiles, telling them that they had an important visitor. Yet another crocodile came out and moved toward the priest. When it moved close enough, the priest threw the fowl, with its head wrapped with the feathers, into the lake. The crocodile picked the fowl, lifted its head perhaps in salutation and drifted to a corner to have its meal. Indeed, it was a spectacular scene: Crocodiles hearing and obeying the voices of human beings was beyond the ken of men. “This is unbelievable. I’ve heard about this before but I thought it was one of those unsubstantiable tales created by people. Now I’ve seen this wonder with my own eyes,” Mr Onyeka Njoku said, with a glint in his eyes and excitement in his voice. Interestingly, shortly before the crocodiles emerged, a woman was seen coming out of the lake in a relaxed manner. She showed no sign of apprehension whatsoever. In fact, she could be said to be at home in that environment. There was also a dead goat floating in the corner of the lake but the crocodiles did not touch it. Perhaps they do not touch such‘unclean’ things.

Crime / Photos:we Sell Adulterated Water To Banks-suspects Confess by Maximiller(m): 12:35pm On Nov 01, 2015 |
A five-man syndicate that specialize in selling adulterated water to banks and other companies in Lagos have been arrested by men of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad. A statement by the police states that the suspects identified as Chukwuma Uzor, (48) and Ofonime Ikpe (44) and three of their accomplices were arrested at 3, Adesola Street, Ago-Palace Way, Okota in Lagos on Thursday October 22nd following a tip- off. One of the suspects, Chukwuma Uzor, had worked with a registered water dispensing company but stopped working and decided to connive with some other men to start up a quack water bottling company using his former boss's brand name. His former boss, Sunday Nnaduaga, who gave the police the tip-off said: "I just noticed that he just stopped coming to office and efforts to reach him via his mobile phones proved abortive as all his lines were switched off. Sometime ago, a friend of mine hinted me that he saw him distributing dispensable water to our customers mostly banks and other big companies in Lagos. Since that day I started to keep tab on him until I caught him red-handed selling produced water with several registered names in an unkempt environment. Afterwards, I hinted RRS team on patrol which led to the arrest of the two suspects". He added that this criminal act has greatly affected his water business because customers have seized to come. While confessing to the crime, one of the prime suspects, Chukwuma, who hailed from Mbaise Local Government in Imo State, said “I decided to use the brand name because it has a ready-made market. We had many customers particularly new generation banks that patronize us. Before now, I had worked as a marketer for him but he was paying me poorly despite all the huge sales I made for him. And, the only way to make my own sales was to use his brand name which is acceptable to many people". he stated. His accomplice, Ofonime Ikpe, who also adulterated another brand of table water, said that he only accommodated him to produce the water in his factory. "I made a big mistake for allowing him to be producing the water in my factory. I regret aiding and abetting him in committing this heinous crime. He paid me just token from profit he made from the sales". The Commander of RRS, ACP Olatunji Disu revealed that the suspects were not only adulterating popular brands, they were also pouring untreated water in jars and sachets in an unwholesome manner as well as selling them to various companies such as banks and unsuspecting members of the public. Hundreds of assorted brands of empty dispensable jars were among the items recovered from them. The two suspects and other co-workers have been transferred to the State Investigation and Intelligent Bureau in Ikeja for further questioning and investigation. Celebrities / How I Was Robbed – Mercy Aigbe-gentry by Maximiller(m): 11:09am On Oct 31, 2015 |
Lat week,it was revealed Mercy Aigbe lost her
expensive phones after a robber disguised as an
electrician had access to her shop and stole some
of her belongings. She told Saturday Beats
“I normally would not want to dwell on the
matter because I cannot regain what they
stole from me but I want people to learn from
what happened to me. I was doing some
repairs in my shop and I asked one of the
workers who fixed the aluminum to help me
get an electrician because I did not know any.
He agreed and shortly after, someone claiming
to be an electrician arrived. I showed him
where to work and I left the shop for about 20
minutes.
“I don’t know how the guy broke into my office
but he stole my two phones, a blackberry
passport and iPhone 6plus. I thank God he did
not cart away my money. He ran away
immediately he took my phones and before we
knew what was happening, he had
disappeared. The aluminum guy claimed that
was not the electrician he sent to me and till
date, I have not seen the guy. Investigation is
still ongoing but I am devastated because of all
the contacts I have lost. Unfortunately, I did
not back up my contacts,” she said.
The actress said that the thief broke into her
office at a wrong time because this is a time when
she really needs her contacts.
She said, “I have a private screening of my
movie, Victims, tomorrow and as I have lost
my contacts, I don’t know how I would follow
up on my guests. It has been a major setback
for me but I thank God for the strength to
cross the hurdle. I have learnt my lesson and
anytime I buy a new phone, the first thing I
would do is to back it up.”

Politics / Fayose: Lecturers Contribute To Bastardisation Of Nigeria’s Education by Maximiller(m): 9:21am On Oct 31, 2015 |
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State said on
Thursday that increasing sexual harassment and
sponsorship of cultism by lecturers in
some higher institutions contributed to the
decadence in the country’s education sector.
Fayose regretted that apart from perpetrating
sexual harassment against young ladies and
victimizing the male students, some lecturers also
engage in Indian hemp smoking and sponsorship
of cultism, describing these as dangerous to the
development of education in Nigeria.
The Governor said this during the 22nd
convocation ceremony of the College of
Education, Ikere Ekiti, where over 2,000
graduates were churned out.
The College through its Provost, Prof Francisca
Aladejana also conferred on Senator representing
Ekiti South senatorial district, Mrs
Biodun Olujimi and the Chairman, Capitol Oil, Mr
Ifeanyi Ubah with the Fellowship of the College in
view of their immense contributions to the growth
of education.
Fayose while lamenting the dwindling fortunes of
education in Nigeria appealed to the graduates to
go out and multiply in the most positive manners.

Romance / 10 Thing Ladies Do That Shows They Want Sex When They Visit Their Boyfriends by Maximiller(m): 10:57am On Oct 30, 2015 |
Few days ago, I got numerous mentions from
my peeps complaining I barely create threads
cos I'm now short of ideas but they are far
from it.. Hahaha
Dudes let's get started
It's no news that most ladies (if not all) were
taught to always hide their intimate feelings
even if they want it
, only a few of them are bold enough to show
that feeling
Please don't get this write-up twisted cos I'm
not trying to say that all ladies who exhibit
these characters want to get laid, but most
often than not, their action speaks volume
1. Assure Me You Will Not Initiate Sex
When I Visit You
Yes a lady once told me prior to her arrival
that I should assure her I will not touch her
when she comes. She actually wanted to
know if I'm capable
2. I Feel So bored
When you turn yourself into a clown just to
put a smile on her face and she still tells you
she's bored, oooooh boi, na you come sabi
oooo
3. I'm feeling heat
It's normal to feel heat inside a stuffy room
condition, but it's abnormal to feel heat when
the AC is at high frequency. She'd be like,
please get me a hand fan, haba inside AC ?
that's awkward
4. She Says No To Everything
She says NO to movies, she says NO to
checking of photo albums, she says NO to
magazines, she says NO to everything. It's just
one of those signs
5. She Stops Talking
Someone who has been talking to you
suddenly stopped responding to your chat,
isn't that weird ?
6. She Says You Are Not Romantic
When men were boys, a lady visited me and
uttered that statement but I never
understood what she meant until she stopped
visiting. When you are both in the room and
she tells it to straight to your face that you are
not romantic, then she has indirectly signal to
you to do the needful
7. Please Lock The Door
In some cases, she will tell you to lock the
door with the key cos she doesn't like the
noise coming from outside
8. She Checks Her WristWatch At
Intervals
If she checks her watch by intervals and
keeps reminding by intervals that she will
soon be going, it's just one of those signs
9. She Keeps Silent When Her
Boyfriend's Pals Are Present
Yes many of them will keep mute so as to
signal to his friends that she's not feeling their
presence and that they should bleep off
10 She Rejects Your Permission
Not every guy is way too forward to make
moves. However, some might take permission
before making moves. For example, the guy
asks, "please can I kiss you ?", she replies " I
don't know" ooooooh boi na you come know
ooooo
Guys feel free to add yours |
