No big deal. Durin my days at iyana ipaja camp in lagos, we were forced to sit on bare floor for long hours under the hot sun. Soldiers flogged some corpers eating at the mammy market while parade was on.
I only used ten days on camp due to my business but that period was very unpleasant, l saw soldiers tearin trousers of female corpers with scissors on their body just because its a customised type. Some soldiers busted female hostels while they were bathing rushin them out for the mornin parade.

To me nysc is crap and shld be scrapd. Its just a means for the govt to embezzle funds. Do u know that the budget for each corpers uniform is 75,000 and all u get is a set of poor quality clothes. Not to mention the food and hostel condition. A soldier flogged a corper in one of the south eastern states few years ago and she later died. Its so sad and painful

Am feelin this thread and av learnt quite a lot. My wedn is in 5weeks time so its a good platform to share my ideas.

Its so sad that couples can't be in control in Nigeria as parents always have different ideas and want to have their way. The only thing u can control is groom and bride apparel.

For me, I want a low key wedn of 200guests. 100each from both families. See both parents sayin it will be up to 500guests. I don't want to print IV just to reduce guests, see my own parents objectn to it. I told them bulk sms, bbm and verbally is better, they said no.

I want my own digital photographer(a close friend), my parent said they will use the family photographer. The guy is so old school but to them he's classic and more experienced.

The bride's parent church is very small and shabby. With old wooden chairs, broken walls and little space. Can only accommodate about 75people. I told both parents its better we use the reception hall for the service, they said no that plastic chairs will be rented and canopies can be errected outside the church. My plan is to paint the church and buy 75plastic chairs and give the pastor as my own special gift.

Av gotn a Dj, both parents said live band is better. I said aso ebi isn't compulsory, they said no. Infact there are about 3ypes of aso ebi. So in Nigeria, there is little couples can do to be in charge of the wedn. Even when u hire a wedn planner, parents still av their own plans.

I must confess, l don tire for all this wahala. Arguements and disagreement just for an event of few hours. Its so sad sha. Na wa for naija parents.

Basic things for any wedn are:

1.Couple Apparel(as u can afford)

2. Good venue(easily accessible)

3. Quality food not quantity alone(use family members u can trust that are committed)

4. Control number of guests(circulate only few IVs)

5. Don't impress people to depress yourself. You will regret it after the wedn

6. Stick to your budget(never ever borrow to fund a wedn)

7. Aso ebi is not compulsory. If u av to do it, both parents, couple siblings and close relatives are okay so there won't be any issue of gift or debt

8. Reception isn't compulsory if u can't afford it(u can package take away food for people after the church service or nikkah)

9. Good music and sound balance

10. Uninterrupted power supply(use a generator and have a back up incase it fails)

In a nutshell, wedn is for a day and marriage is for a life time. We should focus more on the marriage. Am just happy that my wife to be is on the same page with me. I luv her so much. May all nairalanders heart desires for their wedn be fulfilled and may we all experience all the blessings of matrimony in jesus name.

For me its omotola. After four kids, she still looks so pretty and sexy. Av seen omotola with and without make up and she looked so cool.l don't know why people are sayin yvonne nelson is pretty. She's just okay abeg. Genevieve used to be so pretty, don't know what happened to her. Its so sad she's agein fast even at her young age.

My sister, am going to be very practical with you. If u really love this guy, your parents opinion dont count. You're ghanian and he's nigerian(both west african). you've lived all your life in the US so l expect u to think like an american not like the average african. He's hardworkin and progressin gradually. He loves you and you love him too. My question is, do u love him more to see him blossom and become like the "so called status your parents desire". If your parent are self made and didn't inherit wealth, they will value this young man.

He's a graduate, also workin on his masters, an immigrant that now has his own apartment. Haha, The best your can do for this young man is to persuade your dad to help him get a "real job" as u noted. He doesn't av a car. So what. Don't marry a man because of what he drives but be sensitive to what drives him. In this case, your man is driven by a strong passion to succeed and a desire to make you happy. - Huawei, Ericsson, ZTE, CNSSL, etc are big companies that maintain various network infrastructures for MTN, who do you think indirectly gives employment to the staff of these companies?
- With over 9,000 base stations, who pays some of your cronies, relatives and uncles who supply diesel to fuel these generators and do maintenance on the ACs, masts, generators, etc
- Do you know how many mouths that walk-in centres, connect stores, recharge cards sales outlets, feed daily because they do business directly with MTN?
- What of security guards in all the base stations and offices, drivers, cleaners, facility maintenance guys, the IT companies that maintain systems and network stuff for the company added staff because a company like MTN demand their services.
- need I tell you about MTN Foundation that are staffed by ordinary Nigerians like you and me, but are solely involved in providing Corporate Social Responsibilities to support government efforts in health-care, education, entertainment, social rehabilitation.
