Last month, Nigerian singer Folarin Falana, Popularly known as falz fuelled rumours that he may be dating singer Simi after he sharing a photo of the two of them on Instagram along with a kiss emoji. However, Simi may have just burst her fans’ bubble and killed any hope of herself and the Karashika crooner dating with her latest interview with HipTV. When asked about her relationship during the interview, Simi made it clear that herself and Falz were nothing more than good friends even though she stated that she didn’t mind dating him. She added that all chances of them dating in this world have been ruled out before talking about her new projects and her upcoming album. http://www.oneinfoplus.com.ng/2016/05/21/singer-simi-clears-air-relationship-falz/

President Buhari who left for london for an Anti-Corruption Summit paid an unexpected visit to Lambeth Palace in London The Archbishop of Centerbury Shared the information on his facebook page few min ago He said It was a great honour to welcome the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, to Lambeth Palace in London this morning. It’s a rare day at Lambeth Palace when we do not pray for Nigeria, the largest country in Africa, which has a very large Anglican Church. We pray for President Buhari and for all those both in government and in opposition. We pray for the poor in Nigeria and for those who have suffered over the last number of years from the violence that has plagued the country, which President Buhari has been tackling so determinedly since he first took office. Nigeria is a country which has more promise, more opportunity, more potential than anywhere else that I know in many continents, not just in Africa. Its people are so intelligent, so full of energy, so full of commitment, that when Nigerians work together, the world – not just Africa – is affected by that beneficially. So we continue to pray for the potential and future of this land to be a place that has a profound effect for good on our world, and demonstrates what is possible to be achieved. Five Governors of Nigeria’s south-south states plan talks with President Muhammadu Buhari to discuss various security issues affecting the zone, including the menace of herdsmen. The governors, who are members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), met on Sunday in Asaba, the capital of Delta State. At the meeting were Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, that of Akwa Ibom, Gabriel Udom Emmanuel, Rivers State, Mr Nyesom Wike, Bayelsa, Seriake Dickson and Cross River State, Professor Ben Ayade. They discussed security challenges posed by Fulani herdsmen and condemned the recent pipeline vandalism in the Niger delta. Discussions were also focused on the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State and the governors resolved to reposition the party to be victorious. At a press conference after the meeting, which took place at the Delta State Government House, Asaba, the host, Governor Okowa, said that far reaching decisions were made. He said: “We discussed issues concerning our great party, the PDP. You will recall that our convention has been fixed to hold in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on May 21 and we are putting plans in place for that convention.” “The Chairman of the committee for the convention is Governor Wike of Rivers State and we use this medium to call on all our supporters and members of the PDP to desist from any form of crisis before, during and after the convention. We accepted, as a party, and the leadership of the party agreed that the national convention should hold at Port Harcourt. We stand by that resolution,” he added. Senator Okowa stated that issues bothering on the PDP in Edo State and the governorship elections coming up in September, 2016 were also discussed, asserting that had tried to map out strategies in order to strengthen the PDP in Edo State. Asked about the strategies to muscle power from the All Progressive Congress-led government in Edo State, Governor Okowa, beaming with smile alongside his colleagues said: “We will not let the cat out of the bag because we are putting things in place at the moment” http://www.oneinfoplus.com.ng/2016/05/09/south-south-governors-plan-meet-buhari-security-issues/

Rivers State Government has assured of its preparedness to collaborate with the federal government in the implementation of the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), report in the clean-up of Ogoni land environment devastated by oil pollution. The State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike gave the assurance Thursday, when the Minister of Environment paid him a courtesy call at Government House, Port Harcourt. Chief Wike who was represented by his Deputy Dr. Mrs Ipalibo Harry Banigo expressed happiness with the commitment of the Federal Government in the implementation of the UNEP report, noting that the devastation of the Niger Delta environment has impacted negatively on the people. “As a State, we strongly reiterate our support towards the holistic Implementation of the UNEP Report on Ogoniland. We are excited to see the drive of the Minister for Environment in ensuring that the Ogoni clean-up exercise becomes a reality.” The Governor stated. He expressed the readiness of the Ogoni people and indeed the State to cooperate and collaborate to see the successful conclusion of the clean-up exercise in accordance with internationally acceptable standards to enable the people return back to their farm lands. The Governor said his administration is determined to do all within its powers to provide a people oriented governance while efforts are on to restore the garden city status of Port Harcourt. Earlier, the Minister for Environment, Mrs. Amina Muhammed who was represented by the Minister of State for Environment, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Jubril, said they were in the State to seek collaboration and cooperation with the State Government and Ogoni Stakeholders in the implementation of the UNEP report. The Minister noted that the programme which is expected to be launched on the 2nd of June this year, is to be driven by all Stakeholders in the region and will ensure that the people benefit from it. She thanked the State Government for the warm reception accorded them, stressing that it was an indication that the Federal Government can partner with the State in several areas. http://www.oneinfoplus.com/2016/04/unep-report-implementation-rsg-pledges.html?m=1

FBN Holdings Plc, the parent company of First Bank Nigeria Limited, is planning to cut about 1000 jobs and focus less on providing loans to the oil industry in a bid to reverse the 2015 financial year’s 82 per cent slump in profit. The lender expects to boost its return on equity, a key measure of profitability, to between 11 per cent and 14 per cent in 2016 from last year’s “really bad” figure of three per cent, according to the Chief Executive Officer of First Bank of Nigeria Limited, FBN’s main subsidiary, Mr. Adesola Adeduntan. He said the company was also targeting a cost-to-income ratio of 55 per cent in two years time from 59 per cent, Bloomberg reported. Adeduntan said in a telephone interview from Lagos on Wednesday. “ROE will be much better than last year,” “At a minimum, we should triple it. We do not shy away from taking difficult decisions. We used to have above 8,000 people. We’ll push it down, gradually to 7,000,” he added. Its net profit fell to N15bn ($76m) from N84bn in 2014, as impairments soared and the economy slowed amid a crash in the price of crude, the biggest source of Federal Government revenue and export earnings. Growth decelerated to 2.8 per cent in 2015, the lowest level since 1999, and may worsen to 2.3 per cent this year, according to the International Monetary Fund. First Bank’s non-performing loans ratio stood at 22 per cent at the end of March, compared with 3.8 per cent a year earlier. Reducing that figure is the “number one priority,” said Adeduntan. He said the bank would do that by reducing the proportion of its lending to the oil and gas sector, currently at about 39 per cent of total loans, and focusing more on blue-chip companies in other industries. Adeduntan ruled out any equity raising this year, saying the bank’s capital adequacy ratio of 17.2 per cent was enough of a buffer and above the Central Bank of Nigeria’s minimum requirement of 15 per cent. It would still be adequate if the floor is raised to 16 per cent in July for Systemically Important Institutions, including First Bank. . FBN’s shares rose by 5.3 per cent to N3.57 on Wednesday. They are, however, still down 30 per cent this year, more than the Nigerian Stock Exchange All Share Index’s drop of 13 per cent. The bank’s valuation lags that of its main competitors such as Guaranty Trust Bank Plc and Zenith Bank Plc. Its stock trades at 0.22 times book value, or the theoretical price that shareholders will get if all assets are sold and liabilities paid off. That compares with 1.18 times for GTBank and 0.62 for Zenith. “The market has over-corrected,” Adeduntan said, adding, “It’s priced in all the negative information. For us, it can only go up.” http://www.oneinfoplus.com/2016/04/first-bank-set-to-fire-1000-workers.html?m=1
