You are so right,I have a friend who has finished her masters in Unilag before going to Germany to study the same course again (masters as well). The last time we spoke, she was complaining bitterly about how tough their education system is.... Chiggsglover: Person go pay more, come dey struggle as if na free education. Let's thank God the struggle is for JUST ONE YR. Unlike in Germany, where you go contend with tough education and language |

Wow,thank you so much for this comprehensive explanation, I am so grateful. I was actually thinking of getting an HDD laptop because it is cheap and I have other things to buy before traveling. Please if you don't mind,I would like to enquire more from you before I finally purchase the system. My email address is funflora20@gmail.com or you can drop yours so that I can add you. Thank you. [1quote author=vkyburnz post=83946961]@mayfav, just in case you have the dough 2burn without plugging a hole in your pocket, instead of a Mac or the less cheaper brands, Go for Dell XPS 13 (2019). It's a dream 2work with and behold. n/b - this like other top performers uses SSD - 256GB in XPS (which is upgradable to something bigger for more storage space). Also it has an empty 2.5 sata slot to add your HDD (use as secondary drive)....though your core OS and code program files shd boot from your SSD. You can choose to buy a bigger SSD (1TB) instead of a slower HDD if cash is not an issue ) Hope this helps. Got some more extra bucks to spend? The all rounder beast of a marathon machine that gets you covered for any programming task/development - Samsung Notebook 9 (8th Gen core i7, 16GB RAM, Nvidia graphic card, 16hrs battery life and all the top end specs) is waiting for you!!![/quote] |

Hello everyone, please I want to ask anyone studying business analytics/data analytics at Dublin business school if we can bring our laptops from Nigeria.I was told students studying IT related courses at NCI were only allowed to use MAC/Apple laptops. I want to know if there are such rules for IT students in dublin business school,as I am planning to buy my laptop in Nigeria before coming (January intake).Thanks. |

It's very obvious you are a senseless fellow, a nincompoop and a dust brain. You could have just shut ur trap of a mouth since you knew u didn't have an answer to my questions. But no,u need to display stupidity!. As u can see,the one that can properly comprehend has answered my question.Empty barrels make the loudest noise, next time think before u start typing. U must not reply everything, especially if u don't have an answer #thankGodsaymannobeGod #mumu willy2000: Ask her again ohh. Signs of a half-baked graduate.... SHIOOR!!! It is like a medical Doc. saying he hates and can't stand the sight of blood, How did he graduate from Med school? |

Thanks so much for your response, I will rate myself average in maths and I just started learning coding on udemy. I just don't see myself been a programmer/ software developer forever,so I was thinking about other fields that require little or no coding. So far,I have been able to research other fields in IT which I will be applying for. Thanks for taking ur time to understand and respond to my questions,I really appreciate it. legionnaire: 1. Berlin, Bonn 2. Seems like one can get internship during the third semester or so. It depends on your school though. But I think it's possible. 3. I think the other fields in IT are also in demand.
4. The thing about Germany is that most schools admit students on a consecutive basis i.e your previous education must be closely related to the masters you're applying for. So you should be applying for a course related to Computer Science so as to boost your chances of getting admitted.
You said you made a 2.1. Once you arrange your CV and motivation letters very well, you should get admission and don't avoid UNIASSIST.
I saw what you wrote about maths and coding. Well, it may be quite difficult for you to survive a masters in a computer related field if you don't have coding and maths skills.
Is it that you have no passion for them or you weren't taught well. If it's the latter, I will suggest that you sign up for coding classes. People who know coding did not come with it from heaven, they learnt through practice. With constant practice, you can get it too. I heard programming is very profitable in Germany.
But if you have a natural aversion for maths and coding, then I would advice you go for another BSc in Germany in a field that you love. You mustn't go for a masters. After your BSc, you can still secure a job with it and you will adapt easily.
Going for a masters in Computer Science related field like the Information Systems you mentioned may be too tedious for you.
I wish you well. Jesus will see us through. |

If you think Computer science is only about coding and maths and there are no other areas of specialization, then you are the JOKE here and probably need to go back to school for proper education. If u don't have an answer to my question, kindly take several seats and allow the ones that do to help out. #itooknow #loudmouth #emptybarrel . willy2000: You don't like coding and maths...HAHAHAHA.
Nigerian education is a joke. Please, when you come, don't say it loud that you hava a Bsc. in CSC and don't know how to code. |

Thanks for this inspiring piece I' m a female computer science graduate(second class upper) with no experience except a 6months internship. I would love to go for MS in information systems or information engineering because I don't really like coding and maths. Please my question goes thus. 1)which school/city can u recommend as I don't have money to renew the blocked account in the following year? 2)Also I would love a city where I can get internship during my studies so as to gain some work experience 3) Is it only programmers that are in demand in Germany?what are the chances for other fields in IT? 4)I would appreciate if u think there are other courses that are good as well. Thanks and God bless. pompido: I am greatly pleased to be on this thread and actually read from the very first page
Quite educative and brings back a flood of memories. We thank God for grace.
All questions asked and answers given (sliding tackles and all ) are great learning curves for all.
My summary....
Landed October 3rd 2015.....Digital Communications in CAU Kiel. Took the first lecture and knew it wasn't for me. Told the profs so and opted out of the program (was still registered of course and was attending the german class provided by the school and intensive language class with VHS at the same time (register with VHS in your city within your first year to get a good rebate (up to 50% off) you can select a start date months away).
Switched to Information Engineering in FH Kiel the following summer (March 2016), did multiple jobs while studying (Printing presses, Cruise ships, Umzug, Chinese Restaurant. etc. Man hustle oooo....days of 12hrs straight jobs 4 times a week and top it with a 13hrs shift on Sundays I was actually doing good in school but learning the language suffered as I couldn't fit it in the calamitous schedule I was running (I did attend intensive classes later though).
Then I got a rude awakening , I visited my naija university mate in Berlin working for Bombardier at the time and immediately knew I was wasting my time with the lager jobs I thought was giving me money. I needed to look at the bigger picture. Got back from Berlin and applied to Allianz Technology in Munich for internship, I got in and all of a sudden was making more working 9-5pm (own office with perks, fantastic international team and exposure into the professional world in Germany) than i was doing working 12hrs (4times a week) plus 13hrs on sundays. All, while doing professional work and improving my professional profile.
I was at Allianz Technology for 1yr & 3months (finished my master project and thesis) and got 2 full time offers before I was done with my master study in October of 2018.
My advice, do what you have to do to survive out here (legally of course). Make sure you pick the right course and if you find yourself in a jam with your choice course, be open to changing. Do not worry about hustling, it is not going to be at the top of your priorities when you actually settle and draw those priorities. Especially if you are looking at the bigger picture. Work will always be available, whether in your city or outside but believe me when I say you will be alright and find a way as everyone before you have done.
Learn the language
Before you leave Nigeria or wherever you are based, set your goals (minimum and maximum), have unbelievably high expectations but also psych yourself up for the very worst case scenario so that wherever you find yourself, you would be mentally grounded to face the music and sing out loud because darkness lasts just the night, light comes with the break of dawn.
God bless our dreams and make our strives abundantly fruitful... |
