The king feels the market union stipulating a price that traders must sell leads to food price gorging. They want food sellers to dictate their own price by themselves. Don't go like that! I have been using aero contractor to travel from Edo to Abuja for N9,999 not too long ago. Sometimes promo will go for N7k. This was 2012 - 2016. Around 2019, it was 21K - 25k for Arik. Lagos route were always cheaper. The dollar has nothing doing at N1600. It was N400 official before Tinubu took over. Did our income reduce from mining or oil export? NO! We even had more money when crude soared to $100 per barren. The thing that encouraged that is subsidy. If fuel became surplus with subsidy only coming from crude supply to Dangote and others, anyone can go sell fuel outside Nigeria. Custom will be empowered to collect export tax on it. We just need to make sure we meet our crude export quotas from OPEC and also producing more for local consumption. Govt task is to increase crude production. We have the resources while curbing bunkering.

No Ghana won't buy in Naira. That is why NNPC is buying all of Dangote refinery fuel and leave a good profit margin for Dangote. They are probably not even selling crude to Dangote. They supply dangote crude, dangote refines it and they buy it back at a margin. NNPC wants to make sure Nigeria has enough for local consumption and NNPC can even be exporting the finished product. But I do know Dangote will still make money from all the other byproducts like fertilizer, polypropylene, gas, tar etc. The immediate problem facing dangote refinery is how to get feedstock of 650,000 barren of crude per day for their operation. They will need to accept supply deal and later think about owning oil well and crude production plants.

We all need to pray for Dangote. This was a cartel business and it will never had worked if Dangote wasn't alive. Dangote broke the jinx and now more oil refinery will crop up.

The crude sold in Naira means less crude in normal exchange for forex or dollar and thus lower forex inflow. But once Dangote starts refining beyond local consumption capacity, which may reduce very drastically if smuggling stops, it means the refined crude will earn more forex than it usually would have in govt hand as raw crude oil because value has been added and it sells for higher. It is still a win on the long run as long govt doesnt make petrol artificially lower than in neighbouring countries.
Heard the FEC is the one dictating final prices and that points to an arrangement where FG bills dangote for crude lower than intl rates just to allow it come out as refined crude product lower than market rates while preserving Dangote flat profit margin. Dangote is now acting a lot like public refineries should under FG on a level playing field.

You are correct. BUA cement guy refineries is coming up. Nigeria should be a center for refineries and supply finished product to Africa as export earnings in $. If Dangote successfully takes off, our 4 refineries would be sold to individual and they will compete also. Government has no business refining crude. Too much corruption in govt business.
