erico2k2: Try a BMW E90 or VW golf or the humble Audi A3/A4 your drive life will never B the same! I didn't say I was looking for a car to buy na. I got my choice already. Try 2013 Camry bros and your drive life will never remain the same. |

erico2k2: Toyota, Honda and Nissan are all the same things they are Japs. Nothing is wrong with using any of them, I'm just going by the notion of the presumption most Nigerians have that Japanese car parts are cheap which is false! They are all Japs but not the same thing Biko and to me, I can't use anything Honda again. That is my personal choice. |

erico2k2: you are wrong there, there is nothing like cheap/fake parts from Honda or Toyota, its all from china, making counterfeit parts courtesy how bross dem frm the yeast wey dey instruct them to manufacture less grade for cheap.quick and easy sales. Well that maybe true. But I haven't had any reason to buy cheap parts since I have been using Toyota. That is my major argument. Toyota offers greater reliability. |
Car Talk › Re: Is Toyota A Better Company Than Mercedes? by maynation(f): 2:54pm On Feb 24, 2020 |
rationalmind: You are still not getting the point.
Follow this link, that's how much an original Honda ball joint cost. This is for one single lower ball joint. If you have to buy a pair, multiply by two and add shipping costs, you're looking at 100k already.
https://www.oemacuraparts.com/oem-parts/acura-joint-front-ball-51220sda305?c=cT01MTIyMC1TREEtQTAy
So if you use fake parts (and obviously you did) and it fails or you had to replace it frequently, it's not the manufacturers fault. You only have yourself to blame. Fake parts or not, I am not to be blamed. Honda is to be blamed since they are only known to produce cheap and fake parts. We bought what we saw, and thank you for the link but it is all a thing of the past. I am forever done with anything Honda. Toyota is Bae. |

adanny01: If you donot understand the mechanics, how can you be of an opinion which car is better?
If we talk about weave-ons, hand bags, pumps etc, you will properly give reasons for each choice you make other that its physical appearance.
Not discriminating you gender wise, but I think you should not be in the front of this kind of argument since the only appreciable contribution you will have is the face value.
Benz are cute, what more can you say about it if no one told you his/her opinion? You are giving a passionate opinion on Honda but that opinion in the real sense is not yours. Your Kazeem said this or that. You need an opinion of your own other than what someone who is not well grounded has giving you.
Have you visited car complaints website before? Have you seen the Honda "universal problem" in the site or any other website.
US Toyota drivers filed a class action lawsuit over vehicles with 2AZ-FE that burn excessive amounts of oil but have forgotten to remember that Honda legs pull out. What about the Takata airbag issue that affects Honda, Toyota, Benz and a long list of manufacturers. If there was a universal suspension problem with Honda, am sure airbag will be of least concern and a class action lawsuit would have made Honda bankrupt.
Besides, you say you spent alot on your DC, how much is considered too much when the only problem you mentioned is ball joint. Even if you replaced ball joint with the chinko ones sold less than 5k, how many did you change to qualify your spending as a disaster.
If your complain was a 2008 Accord V6, I will not argue with you. Firstly, If I didn't learn from my Kazeem where then would I learn? From medical school? If I kept visiting my Kareem with the substandard Honda I bought, am I not expected to ask questions why the Honda was the 2nd worst thing on earth after the devil? That is about that. Secondly, the first time I had this experience with my ball joint was right in front of my church why I was trying to turn in and the embarrassment alone was haunting. I spent above 30k just that day alone if not more. I only laid emphasis on ball joint because that is off course the only name I will never forget. No way I could remember all that he listed to buy but I spent above 30K just that Sunday and then he advised I should be replacing it periodically. And off course several other faults were developing along the line. That is that. Thirdly, can a Nigerian file a law suit against a maker of a car? Nigerians would never, we haven't gotten to that level. And these white guys don't have bad roads like we Africans so they don't majorly experience it like we do. This doesn't change the fact that it is a universal problem. If we had a reasonable platform like the whites to tender our aggressions then Honda would have been a thing of the past. You yourself know that Honda products are known to always have this ball joints/suspension issues. I can swear with my life that you know. Then again, do you know how many times Toyota has withdrawn a number of their vehicles from the market because people's complained about some mechanical faults?? That is what is expected from a company that is ready to give nothing but the best. Lastly, No. It wasn't a 2008 accord, it was 2006. You can continue with your gender discrimination tho. |

adanny01: There you have it. It is plausible that you bought a lemon out of desperation. The same way I told my evil spirited friend to chill but ended up with a lemon.
Please tell us the truth, you bought a lemon, period.
Trusted Kazeem? Do you even know what brand of parts he installs on you car? Do you even know whether your car had a CAT converter or not as at when you bought and sold it?
My neighbor's trusted mechanic collected 20k and poured 4k Forte Visco 2000 20w50 in his 4 months old toks 2008 Corolla gear box. He bought another gear box thereafter but his mechanic is still trustworthy till today.
You got ripped off by your car dealer and continued to get ripped off by your Kazeem. I guess he is still trust worthy, just go now and tell him your steering freezes intermittently if he will not ask you to buy a new steering rack. Try it. I bet you, he will not reject the offer to rip you off as usual.
The difference between me and you is that I overcome challenges with solutions while you are overcomed by challenges with blames.
At the current state of my Accord, if I get a pull out, believe me, I am 100% responsible. If I put a non OEM ball joint and decided to manage, and it pulls out, why shift blame? But a person like you who has no idea what was put in the car has no one to blame but the stereotypical way, Honda. Will you mechanic accept responsibility and lose a customer?
I wish you luck, you will need it on your next Kazeem appointment. Okay I bought a Lemon out of desperation, the tons of others having this same experience bought Lemons too? Common, call a spade a spade. I could remember my Kazeem saying it is an error from the company, the weight of the tyres are resting on the ball joint or however he put it. I am sure you understand what he meant with that. I really may not understand the mechanical gimmicks he might have played on me as you suggested but Honda is a huge disaster. It would have made more sense if it happened to just me or a few people but it is a universal problem. The maker's error not ours. I don't overcome challenges like this by proffering solutions, avoiding the defective and substandard make is my own solution. Thanks for the good luck, but I ain't visiting Kazeem anytime soon. My baby is too perfect for that. I dash you the luck. And ohh! I learnt a new word from you today 'Lemon', thanks for that. |

adanny01: The way you sounded, like if Dangote should bless your life with a brand new 2020 Accord, you will say, "nah, I pass".
Or when you negotiated for your 2013 Camry, if there was an offer for a 2018 Accord, you will still say, "nah, I pass".
You used a DC, it scarred you. FINE. Out of 10 DC users, say 2 are scarred. FINE. Say 10 out of 10 Murano users get scarred. FINE.
To say Murano is a piece of shiit i will say FINE. To say Nissans are pieces of shiit, I will not say fine.
Secondly, my evil spirited friend bought a scar when he made a good deal for his car. The price was alright, the car was fixable yes, but he did not have the patience, the knowledge, the experience and the will to see the car in good shape, this got him scarred. Did Honda scar him? When your mechanic says your crank shaft is shot and you must replace your 300k engine when actually you have a worn camshaft, how do you stop yourself from paying 400k? It is the knowledge that will save you not Honda. How am I sure you didn't scar yourself with a combination of lack of knowledge and a dubious mechanic? Okay this is it. I know you will defend Honda regardless, same way I will defend Toyota. Ordinarily Dangote won't dash me a car as I have no business with him. Does this mean I didn't get your narrative? I did, but those that can get me a car will know my choice and they won't buy me what I won't appreciate. When I bought my DC, it was out of desperation. I was eager to join league of car owners, my bf advised me to chill but i never listened. I bought it and for the first two-four months it was nice until later I started leaving the car with 'Baba KAzeem'. People will tell you to beware of Honda's and their steering ball joints and suspension issues, I didn't even listen until it happened to me hands down. Like how was that even predictable?? How comes everyone knows there is 90% probability of a honda user facing this ish. Do you know the funniest thing? I was blamed for lack of maintenance and then for plying rough roads. Imagine!! I asked some of them why my mom's toyota that I drove for years despite the very rough roads in Osun state didn't experience such ish. Las Las Honda loves using cheap and substandard parts. And... Would I have opted for 2018 accord over my Camry '13? Nahh. I won't. This is my choice, I even saw some ridiculous offers that were too juicy to be ignored but nah I passed. Secondly, I must have scarred myself with lack of knowledge and patience, my mechanic didn't contribute to it. He is a trusted person. The ugly thing about the abnormality of Honda cars is, Honda users will blame everyother person but the maker. You will blame the mechanic, the victim, the roads and all and all but you will never blame the maker for packaging a cheap trash as car. |

adanny01: There's a point where the mouth (hands) vomits the mind.
Not trying to be overly defensive sha, a friend of mine recently moved from a 2002 Corolla to a DC and has all the praise for the latter. I know that Corolla is a good car but I wonder why DC seemed to be a good upgrade to him. Don't you think the Corolla is good too?
I want to think you are better than the comment "Honda is a disaster" but you know what you are better than. Your scars do not define who you are, they shape who you will be.
Are you sure you didn't buy the scar with your hard earned money thinking you bought a car? A lot of people have done exactly that, including my evil spirited friend. Is corolla 2002 a car I will pick over DC? Personally No. I will pick DC over 2002 corolla so I am definitely on the same page with your friend although my reason won't be because I see it as an upgrade but just a simple choice. The last paragraph, I seriously can't phantom the parables of the scars and cars o. Biko come to my level. |

Openbusiness: When the iPhone 4 was made, what was the equivalent android available, maybe the symbian android, then maybe the java blackberry. They're all dead, but the iPhone 4 is still here, could be updated up to ios 7 or 8 I think, and in that era the iphone 4 was "bragging material" just like the V-boot in its era was bragging material etc. But nobody is talking bragging rights here, I don’t know why you have brought that up into this conversation or what exactly you're driving at with it. We're talking the everyday misconceptions about certain brands of cars like the Toyota and Benz etc. Every car manufacturer produces a car in a certain segment, and by so, different cars from different manufacturers fall in the same segment and certain models fall within the same group and this establishes the grounds for comparison. For example, you can't compare an S550 Benz sedan with a camry, even though they are both in the same segment (SEDAN), they are not in the same group or class. But you can compare an E350 Benz with maybe a camry or avalon. Now, it doesn't matter how you look at it or grade it, it doesn't matter which year you consider, let's even say 2001 model, a E350 model of that year is more luxurious than a camry same year, and in that same era the man driving that 2001 camry still falls under the broke people category. If only we had a time machine to go back in time, say, 2001, and let's see the kind of people that "EXCLUSIVELY" own the 2001 E350 compared to those that "exclusively " own the 2001 Camry. Check their thinking, it's the same kind of mindset with the Toyota buyers of today: 'does it chop fuel', 'shey the parts full market', 'can baba Kazeem repair it' etc. But check out those buying benz, their mindset is how many HP on this baby, can it go 0 - 100 in 6 secs, what kind of tech is inside etc. And that's how rich people think when buying cars, they think LUXURY and Performance to guide their choice. I like this Particular analysis, your points are loud and clear, I even liked and shared it. Thanks for this piece, I just had to remove the part where you talked about broke people at the last lines. Those weren't needed. Oshey Openbusiness. |

It's a personal thing ...I enjoy in Benz the handling No doubts, Benz has been a brand of repute although overly hyped. Let us enjoy our Japanese cars in peace, some of us would die for Toyota or let me just say me. |
