budaatum:I want you to know that in the gospel context, Christ means King of the Jews, which will come from Bethlehem Check Luke 22:67, that's the first offence. Luke 22:70, is the second offence. Check john 18:40. That Barabbas literally means Son of the father. His other name is jesus. Jesus king of the Jews and Jesus son of the father are one and the same. |

budaatum:The 'gospel' there is is the Anglo-Saxon translation of the Greek word "Euangelion." The Greek term was employed to interpret the Aramaic "awon-Galee-Yoon," which conveys the meaning of "He reveals." There might have been a Jesus, in the gospel story, someone was released in place of Jesus. This person name is Barnabas, which means son of the father, his other name is Jesus. That's, Jesus Barnabas. The Pharisees nailed Jesus with 2 offenses but only one sticked. They called him king of Jews which means Christ. And Barnabas, Son of the Father. The Jews killed Christ but saved Barnabas. It's a wordplay by the gospel authors

Dustbinbint:Matthew 27:4-- Judas, Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the "innocent BLOOD". And the other one has already been explained, but I'm not sure you read anything. In Matthew 27:9, who was the author mimicking? Field of blood is same thing with potter's field. Matthew and Acts even contradicts themselves, was Judas buried or did he die in this potter's field? In Matthew he went and hanged himself immediately before they bought the Land or was he still around? In Acts he was the one that bought the field and killed himself there. There's only a contradiction if you don't know what it really says, which I've explained in the article. Start from here https://www.nairaland.com/7888378/other-disciple-whom-jesus-loved And was new testament not written in Greek? |

HeatSeeker:Lol, go look up the history and how predominantly it was used, then you'll better know the view of early Christianity before Catholic hijacked it and termed it "heresy". You should also look up the history of the word "heresy", who and what qualifies as "heretic". |

Religion / Thirty Shekels Of Silver. by Maynman: 12:29pm On Nov 22, 2023 |
Exodus 21:32: If the ox gores a slave, male or female, the owner shall give to their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned. In the Book of Matthew, we learn of Judas delivering Jesus for thirty shekels of silver, But how much is this money worth, and did Judas betray Jesus solely due to the love of money, or were there other motives involved? In Exodus 21:32, thirty shekels of silver represented the compensation paid to a slave's master in case the slave was gored by an ox—an amount not considered significantly valuable. Matthew 26:15 notes the counting out of thirty pieces of silver for Judas. This amount is metaphorical, echoing themes from the Tanakh. The author of Matthew consistently mirrors various Old Testament instances and concepts in his writing, like the prophecy of Jesus' virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14), though he got it wrong, and locations associated with Jesus' birth and ministry (Micah 5:2, Isaiah 9:1). This similar theme was used for the Judas Allegory. The Betrayal. 2 Sam. 16:23- Now in those days the advice Ahithophel gave was like that of one who inquires of God. That was how both David and Absalom regarded all of Ahithophel’s advice. Here, Ahithophel is the betrayer. He was one of David's trusted advisers but later betrayed David by seeking to kill him and supporting Absalom's claim to the throne, as recounted in 2 Samuel 15:31 and 2 Samuel 17:1-3. The Thirty Skekels Coin. Zechariah 11:12- Then I said to them: “If it seems good to you, give me my wages; but if not, withhold them.” And they paid my wages, 30 pieces of silver. Similar to how the Pharisees paid Judas for his job, the Israelites paid Zechariah thirty pieces of silver, an amount they deemed equivalent to the value of a slave in the case of accidental death. This was a deliberate insult aimed at Zechariah. In response, he was instructed to 'throw it to the potter'. Potter's Field. Zachariah 11:13- And the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter"—the handsome price at which they valued me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter at the house of the Lord. After Judas had thrown the money into the temple, the Pharisees took it and bought the 'potter's' field. This same concept aligns with the prophet Zechariah who tossed the money into the house of the Lord for 'the Potter.' Death of Judas. Matthew 27:5- Judas threw the silver coins into the Temple and left. Then he went out and hung himself. Acts 1:18- Now this man acquired a field with the reward of his wickedness, and falling headlong he burst open in the middle and all his bowels gushed out. While there are no parallels to this in the Tanakh, his death is also a metaphor, Judas did not die. As I have explained in my other articles, Judas is the disciple whom Jesus loved. https://www.nairaland.com/7888378/other-disciple-whom-jesus-loved Judas was the disciple who allowed Peter entry because he was known by the high priests. The Book of Matthew mentions how Judas died AFTER WITNESSING the Pharisees' judgment on Jesus in Matthew 27:3. In Matthew 27:5, the explanation of Jesus' death by hanging uses a Greek metaphor, 'apanchomai' from 'apancho.' This term is a combination of 'apo,' meaning 'away from,' and 'ancho,' meaning 'to squeeze.' Judas was "Choked Up" as in squeezing one's self as with great emotion or grief. This was reiterated in Acts 1:18, where it says, 'falling headlong, he burst open in the middle, and all his bowels gushed out.' In Greek, 'falling headlong' is 'presthes genomenos,' which symbolizes 'becoming swollen.' He burst open in the middle, and all his bowels(splagchna) gushed out figuratively meant he poured his heart out among them, referring to the chief priests and elders. https://www.adventisthealthcare.com/living-well/the-splagchnizomai-difference/#:~:text=The%20Greek%20word%20is%20splagchnizomai,story%20of%20the%20Prodigal%20Son. Early Church Tradition. The fourth book of Papias’s lost Exposition of the Sayings of the Lord contains a tradition about the death of Judas that is different from what we find in both Matt 27:3–10 and Acts 1:18–20. "But Judas went about in this world as a great model of impiety. He became so bloated in the flesh that he could not pass through a place that was easily wide enough for a wagon—not even his swollen head could fit. They say that his eyelids swelled to such an extent that he could not see the light at all; and a doctor could not see his eyes even with an optical device, so deeply sunken they were in the surrounding flesh. And his genitals became more disgusting and larger than anyone's; simply by relieving himself, to his wanton shame, he emitted pus and worms that flowed through his entire body. And they say that after he suffered numerous torments and punishments, he died on his own land, and that land has been, until now, desolate and uninhabited because of the stench. Indeed, even to this day no one can pass by the place without holding his nose. This was how great an outpouring he made from his flesh on the ground."
