Gamesmart:Exactly. LASU had the lowest research and lowest teaching quality, international outlook of all the uni remains the same but the citations of it's research was the highest of all(93.7%). This gave LASU an edge over others. I think other uni should walk along this path: little but quality research. |
Thanks@ Gamesmart for educating the ignoramus CodeTemplar who at every given opportunity discredits public uni. |
CodeTemplar:private uni what? when it was even UI that was the first uni to be ranked by THE. please just focus on your private uni not to be at the bottom of the pit at the next ranking. |
The three key Criteria for Institutions to be included in the ranking include: -Publish a sufficient number of academic papers over a five-year period – this threshold is currently set at 1,000 papers. -Teach Undergraduates. -Work across a range of subjects. |
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings are the only global performance tables that judge research-intensive universities across all their core missions which include teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. Six Nigeria Universities made it to the top 1000 world University Ranking. OAU and LASU broke into the ranking for the first time as OAU emerged 6th in Nigeria while LASU sits 2nd place in Nigeria. UI emerges no 1 in Nigeria. Unilag emerges no 3 in Nigeria. CU position dropped from no 1 in 2020 ranking and currently sits 4th place in Nigeria. UNN sits no 5 in Nigeria https://www.timeshighereducation.com/world-university-rankings/2021/world-ranking#!/page/0/length/25/locations/NG/sort_by/rank/sort_order/asc/cols/stats

The Senate berated the Minister of State for Employment, Labour and Productivity, Mr Festus Keyamo(SAN), again on Wednesday over the recruitment of 774 , 000 Nigerians for the Federal Government ’s Special Public Works programme. Spokesperson for the Senate, Dr Ajibola Basiru, in an interview with The PUNCH, described as false, a claim by the minister that each member of the National Assembly was given 30 slots in the ongoing nationwide public works recruitment. As the Senate condemned Keyamo, the Ogun State Chairman of Special Public Works, Senator Gbenga Obadara, in an interview with The PUNCH, said four doctoral and 200 Master ’s degree holders were among applicants in the state. Recall that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari(retd.), had a few months ago, approved the employment of 774,000 workers as part of efforts to cushion the economic hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the programme, Nigerians, who will be unskilled workers, will earn N20,000 each on a monthly basis for three months. At least, 1,000 workers will be recruited from each of the 774 local government areas of the country. The programme ran into a hitch last month when the National Assembly and Keyamo disagreed over who should handle the recruitment. The Senators had insisted that the programme should be handled by the National Directorate of Employment. But following the President ’s intervention, the crisis was resolved. Two weeks ago, the Chairman of the Extended Special Public Work Selection Committee in Rivers State, Dr Innocent Barikor, was quoted to have said that the minister had directed that every governor should be given 40 slots in each local government area, while each senator and House of Representatives member would enjoy 30 slots in their various council areas. https://punchng.com/fgs-774000-unskilled-n20000-jobs-four-phd-200-masters-holders-apply-senate-tackles-keyamo-again-on-slots/ |

GboyegaD:It is very possible. Large class size would have their lectures both physical (it there's need for practical) and online resources. The school WiFi is okay and accessible to students at a friendly price. They should use their easy access wifi to their advantage. Hostels is not as congested as it was before. The problem here would be squatters which can be dealt with through some measures. |
GboyegaD:CONUA is here to stay and even dominating already. About 70% of lecturers in OAU are members. if school resume tomorrow, OAU will be one of the first government uni to open school. ASUU no get influence for that sch again. |
Wonderful Union not the self centered ASUU. The union started in Obafemi Awolowo University and now as Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Federal University, Lokoja and Kwara State University, Molete, University of Port Harcourt and some others as members. I hope other universities will refine their academic unionism mayprince: GboyegaD: mayprince:Opening Universities is not rocket science. Other fast WiFi spots like white house, law, yellow house, ICT and some are okay. Though there would be need for few improvements. GboyegaD: |
This was announced via Twitter handle... "Students who are our children and partners in progress should show understanding, what we are asking from the government are in their interest and the interest of the nation, good hostel accommodation, good classroom blocks that can engender effective learning,........ #ASUU laboratories where cutting edge research can be carried out and offices that can drive the process of quality university education. #ASUU “So what we are asking of the government are not baseless things, but those things that in 2012, the government conducted during a needs assessment survey and found out that there is widespread rot and decay in the university system." #ASUU https://twitter.com/ASUUNGR/status/1297800417754124288?s=19
