Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has explained why he played Alex Iwobi in the goalless draw at Chelsea on Wednesday, January 10. Iwobi played the whole 90 minutes as Arsenal held Chelsea to a goalless draw in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final. The Nigeria international was a surprise addition to the starting XI following revelations that he partied a night before the FA Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday, January 7. Wenger, however, insists that he started the player because he could help the team. “ It is one thing to punish someone individually and the second thing to punish everybody,” Wenger said after the game. “ If I think he can help the team to win it has nothing to do with the fact that he can be punished separately and individually. ” See Also: Arsene Wenger urges Arsenal to avenge 4-0 Anfield humiliation Recall that Iwobi was caught partying into the early morning of Saturday, January 6 before the game against Forest. The 21-year-old played the entire 90 minutes of the game and struggled all through. Wenger branded his behaviour ‘unacceptable’ and revealed that the player will be fined. “ It was not the night before the game. It was 48 hours. But it’s not acceptable, I will speak to him about it. If that is true he will be fined ,” Wenger said. https://www.davinadiaries.com/arsenal-manager-explains-why-alex-iwobi-played-against-chelsea/ |
Ebuehi Demands Pay Rise To Extend ADO Den Haag Stay 0 January 11, 2018 1:44 pm Ebuehi Demands Pay Rise To Extend ADO Den Haag Stay Nigeria defender, Tyronne Ebuehi, is keen to extend his stay at Dutch outfit ADO Den Haag, but insists the club must show desire to keep him by offering him what he rightly deserves, reports Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN). Ebuehi who has been capped twice by Nigeria is in the final six months of his contract at the club, and both parties are in talks over a new deal. The right-back has also been linked with a move to English championship club Norwich City and Portuguese outfit Benfica. ”I do not think the offer I received is very great. I need the club to appreciate me more,” Ebuehi told Omroepwest.nl at the club’s training base in Belek “I’m enjoying myself here and I do not want to leave. I still learn every day, am happy with the players and trainers and if I can sign here, I would really like to do that. But I am also just honest. I do not think the offer I received is very good.” The 21-year-old also debunked speculations he has signed a pre-contract with Norwich City and that he attended the club’s Emirates FA Cup clash against Chelsea last Saturday. “The most important thing now is the training camp. Of course I see messages on social media, so I cannot say that I do not care about it at all,” Ebuehi stated. “I think some rumours are pretty funny. Maybe I signed the contract in my sleep.” Ebuehi further stated that he was not motivated by money as he seek to sort out his future. “I am not someone who now plays football for money. That is something that comes later. The most important thing for me is my development. I have to be better and I want to achieve the highest possible level,” he admitted. “At the end of my career, I want to say that I have made the most of it, but as I said before, the rating can be better for someone who has played so many matches. ” https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/www.completesportsnigeria.com/ebuehi-demands-pay-rise-extend-ado-den-haag-stay/amp/ |

TheSuperNerd: TheGoodJoe:The hate is real brethen. I logged in on facebook this morning and navigated straight to Arsenal fan page because of this issue (something I wouldn't have done on a normal circumstance). Most of them were calling for his head. I some patriotic Nigerians were defending there own though they were outnumbered. Most of them have nothing on him accept the poor first touch he had at second half. Now if they have to overlook his contribution in yesterday's match only to focus on that first touch proves that most of them are out t for an anti Iwobi campaign. Lacazette and Wilshere had a not so good performance yesterday from what I gathered,Iwobi got a better ratings than most of his teammates in that match but Nobody is talking about that. I feel most of them are not really true Arsenal fans but rather English fans who are out to break his confidence for choosing Nigeria over England ![]() |
safarigirl:Though I'm not viewing the match, his rating so far in the match is not bad to be compared to his last match. Same with Victor Moses |
Only in Africa |

Arsenal FC news: Arsene Wenger confirms Alex Iwobi to be fined for 'unacceptable' behaviour Arsenal FC news: Arsene Wenger confirms Alex Iwobi to be fined for 'unacceptable' behaviour Alex Iwobi By talkSPORT - @talkSPORT Tuesday, January 9, 2018 Alex Iwobi will be fined by Arsenal after partying until the early hours of Saturday morning ahead of Sunday's FA Cup defeat at Nottingham Forest, boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed. The 21-year-old forward was filmed dancing in central London at 2.37am on Saturday in a video uploaded to Snapchat, according to The Sun. He then played 90 minutes at the City Ground as the holders crashed out, going down 4-2 to Championship side Forest. Wenger said: "That is true. He will be fined. It is impossible to go out 48 hours before a game. It is unacceptable." Iwobi was reported to have attended a party that included people smoking cannabis and inhaling laughing gas. But Wenger said his player was not involved in either taking drugs or drinking alcohol. "First of all we have to be cautious with everything that is coming out," Wenger said. "When you read what is reported it is like he has taken drugs. He was not involved in that at all. "He has been out at a birthday party and how long he has stayed? That is important. After, I will decide what happens. "Did he do drugs or alcohol? Not at all. If your neighbour takes drugs, what can you do? You are responsible for your own behaviour, not the behaviour of your neighbour." Wenger admitted Iwobi's performance against Forest may have been affected. "Who knows that?" Wenger said. "You know that sometimes you want to prepare 100 per cent but it is not always a guarantee you will be at your best. "But that is what is requested from a top-level professional." https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/talksport.com/football/arsenal-fc-news-arsene-wenger-confirms-alex-iwobi-be-fined-unacceptable-behaviour%3famp |
NgeneUkwenu:With all honesty, Nobody would like to test APC for 16 years with the way they managed Nigeria for only two years except zombies. APC two years Is nothing to write home about the loots, the hardship, the insecurities, corruption got to a whole new level under the Mr integrity regime, What about the division this government created among Nigerians ? It has never been this terrible . We have never had it this rough. If you doubt me we fit ask nairalanders which regime for PDP 16 years that Buhari APC led Government better pass. We fit use opinion pull for nairaland to ascertain what Nigerians think of your APC two years everything bad. |
NgeneUkwenu:Now that you have confirmed that you share money and are no different from your illutional "my loved party", What makes you think Nigerians will not go for the devil they know than the Angel the APC Is pretending to be? |
NgeneUkwenu:So easy that APC spent so much and your candidate couldn't even win his local Government area? Easy must have another meaning in your dictionary. By the way, why didn't Obiano run for the Governorship with APC? He Is the incubent governor and APC broom beside his campaign poster would have made his victory a sweeter one . Don't you think so? |
Some guys above me talking like they are the Abia people that will vote APC. Mind you, Abia are not happy with what they have presently does mean they will vote for APC. Remember, Alex Otti Is still a member of APGA. Abia have a far better option to choose from, you can go ahead and deceive yourselves like you did in Anambra. |
