Religion / Billy Graham, Renowned TV Evangelist, Dead At 99 by mcfranc(m): 2:34pm On Feb 21, 2018
The Rev. Billy Graham, whose sermons were broadcast in churches around the country, has died, a spokesman confirmed to CBS News. He was 99.

In the summer of 2005, Graham preached at what he called his "Final Crusade."

Graham said: "Deep inside we need something else. And that something else can be brought about by Jesus."

"When I touch the podium, I can feel a new strength and a new power come and it's a thrilling thing for me to preach the gospel at this age," Graham said.

The three-day event in New York City was the culmination of a lifetime of evangelism -- seven decades of spreading the gospel to more than 200 million people in 185 countries around the world.

Graham once said: "Jesus Christ, the son of God, has an answer to every problem that you face!"

Raised in the fundamentalist faith of his native North Carolina, Graham dedicated his life to Christ when he was 16, and was ordained a Baptist minister in 1939. He created his own brand of populist evangelism. His "crusades," as he called them, were soon attracting millions in person and later through television.

"We are United, and are ready to march under the banner of Almighty God, taking as our slogan that which we have on our coins, 'In God We Trust,'" Graham once said.

Business / Have You Been Having Difficulties Paying With Paypal? This Is The Solution by mcfranc(m): 1:39pm On Sep 08, 2016
Hello,

I just wanted to share a resent experience I had trying to pay for services using paypal. Before now, its been very easy buying goods or paying for services with Nigerian Debit Mastercard/VISA until recently. I observed that each time I try to pay in USD, Paypal automatically converted the amount to Nigerian currency, thus I get a decline notice from the bank. This is one of the notice from my bank:

Dear Valued Customer,
Declined Card Transaction: DCC Restriction
Thank you for using your GTBank Naira MasterCard.

Please be informed that your transaction with the details below could not be completed because you have selected the DCC payment option (Dynamic Currency Conversion) that allows you to pay in Naira, which has been temporarily restricted on all our cards. Please reattempt the transaction and select the currency of the country you are transacting in.

I tried severally to no avail. I had to use FBN Mastercard and VISA, same thing happened. I also used a colleague DOLLAR VISA CARD, all to no avail. The customer care representatives of these banks are clueless, their suggestions did no good. Though they affirmed that nothing was wrong with my cards.

On a second thought, I contacted Paypal via email and in less than five minutes I got a response followed by a call. The guy walked me through and it worked! Below is the solution as contained in the email he (paypal rep) sent to me.

I hope you are doing well today. My name is Mark from PayPal Customer Service.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been unable to complete your payment. We recently upgraded our services and PayPal is now able to charge your debit/credit card in Nigerian Nairas. This allows you to know upfront the exact cost of your transaction. However, it shows that your card issuer is not authorizing us to charge your card in your local currency.

Normally, you can opt out of using PayPal's conversion rate. However, we have received reports that this option doesn't show on our users' end. I assure you that this has been escalated and our technical support team is already working on resolving this issue. In the meantime, kindly follow the steps I have outlined below to allow you to complete your payment.

The steps that I have outlined below will have you try sending a payment in AUD. But don't worry as you would not complete it. It will just prompt you out of having your card charged automatically in NGN.

1.Log in to your PayPal account.
2.Click Send & Request at the top of the page.
3.Click Pay for goods or services.
4.Enter the recipient's email address and enter $1.00 AUD for the amount.
5.Click Continue.
6.Click ‘Other Conversion Options’ and select 'Use My Card's Conversion Rate' or ‘Bill me in the currency listed on the seller’s invoice.’
7.Click Next.
8.Log out of your PayPal account and log back in to your PayPal account.
9.Try sending your payment again.

I assure you that you'll be all set for your future payments after completing the steps I have outlined above.

We'll be glad to hear from you if you need clarification or assistance. Please don't hesitate to email us again. You can also call us at +1-402-517-4519 (U.S. telephone number) Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM local Nigerian time.

Thank you for choosing PayPal. Have a great day!

This really saved my day. Am sure it will help someone.

Business / Re: Konga.com Is A JOKE by mcfranc(m): 1:33pm On Jan 12, 2015
It is true that Konga's delivery system hasn't been commendable lately. But overall, eommerce business is a growing trend in Nigeria and with time, they will greatly improve. You need to understand that some of these delays are not directly caused by Konga. Konga has merchants who sell on the site and sometimes, these merchants don't drop off items purchased from their store to the designated dropoff centres promptly thereby causing delay.

Another major barrier is the courier companies in partnership with Konga, some of them are a clog in the wheel of the supply chain process. Konga express, the courier company owned by Konga appear to be more effective in terms of delivery than the third party companies.

We just hope that they keep improving the process and become better by the day.
Religion / Int'l Renowned Preacher And Transformational Leader, Dr. Myles Munroe is Dead by mcfranc(m): 9:00am On Nov 10, 2014
Prolific best selling author and internationally renowned preacher and business coach, Dr. Myles Munroe of Bahamas Faith Ministries International and his wife Mrs. Ruth Ann Munroe, died in a plane crash earlier today in the Bahamas. According to The Associated Press, the plane, a Lear LEA -1.05% 36 executive jet, reportedly struck a crane at the Grand Bahama Ship Yard, exploding on impact and crashing into the ground near a junkyard area.

The Bahamas Ministry of Transport and Aviation reported that the Lear 36 executive jet departed the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) in Nassau, Bahamas at 4:07PM for the Grand Bahama International Airport, a privately owned international airport in Freeport, Bahamas with nine people on board.

The plane crashed while making an approach for landing at Grand Bahama International Airport at 5.10pm, the Ministry of Transport and Aviation said. The crash killed all nine people on board the private jet. The identities of the other people on board have not yet been confirmed. The cause of the crash was not immediately determined, though there had been heavy rain across the region. A full investigation is expected to begin on Monday.

The crash occurred as people were gathering in Grand Bahama for Dr. Munroe’s 2014 Global Leadership Forum which starts tomorrow, November, 10. Former mayor of Atlanta and former U.S Ambassador to the United Nations, Andrew Young scheduled to speak at the popular leadership forum, released the following statement through his foundation: “Ambassador Young expresses his deep sadness over the tragic death of his friends Dr. Myles and Mrs. Ruth Munroe. He offers condolences to the Munroe family and the families of the other souls who lost their lives as a result of this shocking plane crash.”

Africa’s richest woman and oil mogul, Mrs. Folorunso Alakija is also expected to speak at the leadership forum.

Known for his work and teachings on leadership, purpose and maximizing your potential, vision, individual and national transformation, Dr. Munroe was the senior pastor of Bahamas Faith Ministries International Fellowship, where his wife, Ruth Ann, served as co-senior pastor. They leave behind two children, daughter, Charisa and son, Chairo (Myles Jr.) Munroe.

Dr. Munroe died living out his purpose in life; spreading the gospel of Christ.

**UPDATE: Dr. Myles Munroe, along with his wife and daughter, Charisa died in the plane crash

Webmasters / Re: Joomla Article Editing Problem by mcfranc(m): 9:43pm On Apr 22, 2013
Like yawatide pointed out, moving from 1.5x to 2.5 is a very tedious task. You must be very conversant with the migration procedures to get it done because it is technical. The syntax of 2.5 is quite different from the 1.5x versions.

Yawa, i think u are referring to this migration extension - http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/migration-a-conversion/joomla-migration/15609 or a similar one. Note that most of the migrations are for database, images and not your old joomla 1.5x extentions except if the developers have upgraded to the newer version.
Webmasters / Re: Recent Joomla Hacking And Poor 9jahost by mcfranc(m): 11:51am On Apr 20, 2013
The issue of site security is a very serious one. Most times the hosting companies are not the ones responsible for the hack of your site. If you use joomla, u probably have left off some very important security measures like changing the default database prefix, or u have used extensions that are porous to attacks. You may consider installing some security extensions on all your joomla site.
