Islam for Muslims / Re: Ramadan: Kano Hisbah Arrests Three Males, Eight Females For Not Fasting by McJane(f): 9:49am On Apr 16
My dear Muslims is it a crime or sin not to partake in fast during the Ramadan period?

Islam for Muslims / Ramadan: Kano Hisbah Arrests Three Males, Eight Females For Not Fasting by McJane(f): 9:49am On Apr 16
The Kano State Hisbah Board said it has arrested some youths in the state for eating in the daytime during the Ramadan, which proves that they were not observing the fast, which is compulsory for healthy adults.

The Director General of the Hisbah board, Dr. Aliyu Musa Kibiya, said those arrested in different parts of the state included three males and eight females.

“We will investigate and if they have cogent reasons we will release them. Those found wanting will however be enlightened and even prosecuted if need be,” Dr. Kibiya said.

He said a woman should not be seen eating in public during fasting, “for whatever reason,” adding that the board will arrest anyone found to be eating during the day.

“Fasting is compulsory for healthy, adult Muslims in the month of Ramadan except for the travellers, menstruating women or old people.”

Hisbah has been notorious lately for making controversial arrests in the state.

SaharaReporters had on March 25 reported how Hisbah invaded some off-campus hostels of the Bayero University in Kano, arresting students of the opposite sex found in the same room.

It had been gathered that the incident happened at Danbare, a small community directly opposite the university’s gate.

The agency had continued to enforce Sharia law by going after stylish haircuts, sagging of trousers, playing of music at social events by disk jockeys and tricycle riders from adorning their vehicles with pictures considered to be obscene and against the tenets of Islam.

This was in addition to other unusual directives reeled out by the Islamic police.

Hisbah recently made headlines for shaving stylish haircuts of young men in Kano and arresting people for improper dressing.

A barber and his customers were also arrested recently for giving and having haircuts respectively, which were said to be offensive to Islam.

They are also notorious for destroying truckloads of alcoholic drinks.

Also in March, the Hisbah operatives had arrested two men suspected of sending pornographic materials to a married woman.

The suspects were traced and arrested after the woman complained to the board.

Look for an area that is largely dense in population with no bank, atm or few POS agent and start a POS business.

People are lazy to queue in bank atms just to withdraw, so the POS business is your best bet.

Education / Re: Is This My CGPA Useless As A Pharmacy Student? by McJane(f): 9:57am On Mar 23
HitRun:
It should count. Perhaps what your colleague was trying to say is that the weight of your 100level cgpa in your final cgpa is low. What that means is that even if you perform badly in your 100 level, but picked up subsequently, you still end up with a good cgpa. For example, the weighted score of 100 level may be 15%, 200 level 25%, 300level 30%, 400level 20%, and 500level, 10%. If u do badly in 100 or 500 level, it may not dent your final cgpa as much as if you did badly in 200, 300, and 400 level. Conversely, if you do very well in 100 and 500 levels, it wouldn't mean much if you do badly in the other levels.

The good thing is that doing well in 100level gives you the impetus to continue going strong. Do not slack. Go girl!

Woahhhh! This one is new, I've never heard of this before, how on earth will they calculate it with all this percentile?

We should be careful how we use the word "Medical" In Nigeria they're are only two branches independent in medicine which is "Dentistry and Veterinary medicine" Google the definition of Pharmacy and you will see it is "Allied Health". For clarification it is "Dental student" and "Veterinary student (vet student).
For Generalisation Students in the College of Medicine which may comprise other disciplines are called Medical students.
Pharmacy has its Faculty. We are misusing the word "Medical" and that's why we're having problem in the Health sector.
Your CGPA is good but doesn't pharmacy give just distinction or pass?

LOL, u still got it wrong pharmacy isn't an allied health course, it's a pharmaceutical course as it stands on its own. But still I get ur point

Yes it does

The only time a pharmacy students CGPA is useful in my school is when a pharmacy student graduates as the best student else it is unclassified. But heah! Who says you can't work hard? + your cgpa is a product of how much you've known ... Though not all the time!

Wait ooo so having 4.5 above in ur finals does get u a distinction in B.pharm ?

I won't say your Cgpa is useless, I can only tell you that in pharmacy school, the result is unclassified except school like unibadan that still make use of Cgpa for pharmacy. My advice to you is to continue studying hard, pharmacy is not going to be easy. I wish you well and hope you will join us in the Noble profession of druggist.

Do having a 4.5 above have no effect on ur degree since it's unclassified?

The CGPA of the 200L pharmacy that you are about to start is useless and about to go down the drain?

How come?

Do you plan to sleep the night away for your remaining levels and let this "colleague of mine" curse and control your future?

I don't think I understand you.

That's my 100L CGPA, I just got into 200L, I haven't started 200L I'm just here to clarify if my 100L CGPA counts in pharmacy?

Education / Is This My CGPA Useless As A Pharmacy Student? by McJane(f): 4:41pm On Mar 22
Holla amigos!

I'm Jane, a 200L pharmacy student. I just finished my 100L second semester exams last month and all our results are out! (yeah, my school's that fast grin)
Good news is that the list of those who crossed over to pharmacy school is out and guess whose name is there? Yeaaaaa it's ur girl, wink
Now I'm currently wrapped up in confusion because a colleague of mine just told me that My CGPA is useless angry I'm like howww? And she told me that it doesn't start counting from 100L, but from 200L
Now I'm in severe pain because my CGPA of 4.905 is about to go down the drain, all my sleepless night? angry

So out of curiosity I brought it to my elders on Nairaland to confirm the authenticity of this?

Also I want to clarify from med students, what's the criteria for graduating with a distinction in B.pharm?
