Something crazy happened to me recently. My regular plumber is unavailable so i got this new guy through a neighbor for some plumbing repairs at my place.
To avoid usual rip-off, I mostly tell the artisans to quote their materials. Most fortunately for me, he quoted the plumbing materials, and I got them myself from the stores. It's 42k worth of materials, and I thank God specially that that was not part of the money that entered gbege.

So after the job dude charged me 15k and I drag down to 12k, then I asked for his aza for transfer. He called out his phone number without the first zero, and immediately I finished entering it (under other bank option on my palmpay app), a PalmPay account popped up. Then I asked him, palmpay abi? (really don't know what he actually heard), but the response I got was "Yes". Then I went further to ask him when the name appeared "Kennedy dey the name? " dude still said yes! Then I send the money and show him receipt on my phone.
He left and I about 15 min he was back, saying "the money no enta". Wetin happen, I checked my app again all is normal, the I show him again. That was when he said "oga na Opay be my account". Shuuuu!
But you said yes when I asked "palmpay abi", dude denied o!
But na your number be this nah? Him say yes.
Okay who be A. B. Kennedy? (not real names here for privacy), dude said him nor know.
Wetin be your own full name? Him say Y. Z. Kennedy.
I confuse small, na him i codedly check the number again. Truly, with the same number, Y. Z. Kennedy do exist with Opay! Shuuuu!

So, I was quiet, thinking, and carefully characterizing the scam is the whole senerio.
Meanwhile, dude is already agitating, infact, my niece was already wipering some slacking statements to my hears, "may not be his fault bros," lets" just pay him and get him out of here". But omo the only thing I keep telling myself was "na lie nor be here"!

Something told me that A. B. Kennedy must be a relative of Y. Z. Kennedy, and that he is only denying it.
So, I just picked phone, move a bit away, and pretended I made a call to someone about the matter. I spoke loudly with contents that easily let the Kennedy before me understand that the person on the other side is either a soldier or a police. The unknown person on the other side of my fake call promised to send a contact, I thanked him and begged him to send it quickly because of the urgency of the situation. Then I made another fake call to no number, greeted, introduced myself to come from ASP...of xyz division... Then I called Kennedys number out and said its both on Opay and palmpay and I want the full ID of both persons on the account. After the call, I could clearly see that dude understood that the case has been escalated.

So after the calls, everywhere has got calm and dude was already soft. There was a brief graveyard silence, then dude asked me, "oga wetin dey happen now, wetin you go do?" I just replied him calmly: "just be a bit patient, A. B. Kennedy will be located and he will either give the money back to you or me. They also confirmed that A. B. Kennedy is either your father, brother or uncle, but they will confirm soon. Also, they say they would have refund my money immediately, but A. B. Kennedy don quickly comot am from the account"

My people, that last statement made Y. Z. Kennedy leave my house. He was grumbling but picked up his things and left. I have not seen him again for about two weeks.

You should be serious about taking your head back from the private uni wey don use am.

If you think the "ones in 2-4 years ceremonial visits" by NUC delegates is regulation, then you have been gravely deceived.
I have served as adjunct staff in private uni, and I friends all over the places.
You may want to say management of both private and public universities are Nigerians, and there you fail the critical knowledge.
Private uni management are very money- and business-conscious, and the people working there understand that fact. Typically, If you have your money:
1. Any jamb score can give you admission in a private uni (they have their ways of doing that)
2.No matter how poor, a student rarely spill-over (one you reach the last year, you will pass all your courses and graduate)
3. As a lecturer in some private uni, it is a job-threatening offence to score any student F grade. Then, scoring a student F does not mean s/he is coming back to rewrite the course.
4. One lecturer can take up to 15 courses in a semester.
5. One lecturer can belong to 2-3 department e.g Dr. A can be a staff in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Biotechnology departments
5. A masters degree holder can teach postgraduates courses.
6. Postgraduate programs are mostly jokes: people complete masters and PhD in less that 1 and 2 years, respectfully, in private unis.
7. Most private unis do not actually have functional facilities, especially labs basically equipped for science and technology research.
All these and more yields low quality certifications.

You are definitely a beneficiary of the substandard pay-and-get practices that is very common in many private universities. That is one of the reasons you will even attempt to contend the fact that most private universities go below par generally.
