You can learn the basics in 6 mths but mastery is about 3 to 5 years doing it 9-5 daily and you restrict yourself to a few tools.

This might be peculiar to your chosen theme. If you have the latest post/news or featured news option, make sure you check it before posting. If you already did, then go back to the post and look for such option.

If it's a beginner certification you need then start with CompTIA Security+. Then move to Comptia CySA.

The thing is if you do not have a networking background, some basic concepts about networking might sound unclear to you as you study for Security+. This could be prevented by taking the CompTIA Network+ training. Udemy is a good platform for this.

Also, it's not necessary to sit for the exam since you are not aspiring to be a Network Engineer. CompTIA Network+ is mostly suited for Network engineers and network administrators.

If you still want to insist, then find time to develop this project on your own even if it's a demo/dummy. By doing this, you would have had the experience. Trying to learn on the job as a freelancer/side gig brings a lot of problems.

You overrate programming or other technical skills. If you have a bad attitude or you have lousy work ethics, you will remain where you are.

Some sort of soft skills are needed to function in today's society. Presentation skills, communication skills, empathy, team player and good attitude are required either in business ( if you choose freelance) and paid employment.

Some programmers cannot be punctual and make it to work by 8am. Some do not even know how to make a good CV, let alone know how to appear properly dressed for an interview or manage himself during such engagement.

Its these tiny things that a programmer does not have that can keep him unemployed.

These are just a few of what could make a dev poor.
