Business / Re: United Nations Ranks Edo As Best State In ICT, Digital Governance In Nigeria by Mcreloaded(m): 5:44pm On Oct 13, 2023
UdabaPrince100:
United Nations ranks Edo as best State in ICT, digital governance in Nigeria

… ‘Obaseki a trailblazer in ICT, digital transformation’

The United Nations, in recognition of the e-governance reforms by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration, has ranked Edo as the best State in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and digital governance in Nigeria.

The State got the recognition at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Design Workshop held in Lagos, which had in attendance representatives from the 36 States of the country, including Commissioners and Managing Directors of State ICT agencies and parastatals, among others.

The Obaseki-led government has in the past seven years undertaken bold and transformative reforms in the State’s civil and public service, transitioning the service delivery from an archaic, analogue and strenuous mode of operations to a digitised, seamless and efficient mode.

The State is today the most connected digitally in Nigeria and operates the most digitised civil and public service, with all local governments connected to fibre optics. Edo is also the first State in the country to have entirely shifted to a digital mode of administration. Files are now processed through the service-wide e-government platform, ensuring quick turnaround time.

Responding to the honour at the well-attended event in Lagos, the Edo State Commissioner for Digital Economy, Science and Technology, Hon. Ogbeide Ifaluyi-Isibor, commended Obaseki for being a trailblazer in the ICT sector.

He noted, “I felt like a superstar at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) workshop as Honourable Commissioners from across the nation, Managing Directors of States’ ICT agencies gathered in Lagos to brainstorm about the levels of digital transformation in their States, challenges and possible solutions to the challenges.

“At this event, I really appreciated how far we have come in Edo State and why we are ranked number one in ICT and Digital Governance in Nigeria.

“We are about the only State that has gone paperless in our government processes. Some States are centuries behind on this. With our almost 80 percent e-government compliance in the civil and public service, we lead all other States.”

He further noted, “While many States are trying to negotiate with Galaxy Backbone, the Nation’s Data Center for web hosting and others, Edo State has a tier-3 State-of-the-art Data Center with over 1.5 petabyte data storage space with a 99.9 percent efficiency level.

“When I told my colleagues that our civil/public servants are the best paid in the country and have the best working environment, they were in awe. To be honest, I was a very proud Edo son and an extremely proud Commissioner for Digital Economy today.

“I had everyone asking me how we did it, asking about our EdoBEST programme, asking how we are able to pay N40,000 minimum wage, asking about our Edo Innovates hub, among others.”

The Commissioner added, “In the next few weeks, I will be hosting a lot of my colleagues in Benin. They want to come to see what magic we have done in the Digital Economy of our State.

“Special appreciation to my Governor, Godwin Obaseki, for being a trailblazer in the ICT sector. To be honest, I was prouder of him today than I've ever been. Kudos to you, boss!”

OBASEKI THE GREAT

That's my governor who has done wonders especially in the area of security and workers welfare

Any which way you look at it, Israel now have more than enough excuse to finish Hamas once and for all.

I'm not so sure about that. Hezbollah is already firing missiles on IDF positions on the border towns of Lebanon. Before it gets to the point of "finish Hamas once and for all," who knows what other paramilitaries would've joined the conflict openly. Iran is just looking for an excuse to do just that. Khemenei has already made an appearance of solidarity with Hamas. In any case, Hamas will always lose, even if not exterminated altogether.

I think you need to understand fully about This tradition.

I am not igbo so I can't u derstand what you are saying.

Your kind can understand and as such don't force your ways or tradition on others.

That's why I say your women should stick to their kind d so there qill be no problem.

Advice your women to make sure dowry is paid. Efore giving birth.

Well sha it is now a precedent in a competent court that has condemned this igbo tradition.

There are reasons for so.e tradition but over time some evil tradition are stopped especially when the tradition involves others who are not from the same igbo tribe.

Better still your women should only marry from their side as it is their ways.

I believe when this tradition was started it wS for igbo os and igbos alone but now that your women have started marrying g outside their tribe then such barbaric and evil tradition should not hold with a man not from igbo.

Think long and hard if this tradition means we'll for the children, or it is a means for parents to make money off their daughters.

I know some igbo o ladies who are I. Their parents house because men have not Co.e to price their market.

Allow your women especially the Adas to breathe

Keep your tradition to igbos and ig os alone and don't force it on other men who are not igbos.

You take my children because I have not paid dowry and you give them to another man and change their names is pure evil as it does not help the children.

Evil is evil and stop explaining or trying g to white wash it as it is plain evil.

If you don't know na u a women dey suffer am.

Not be all men children una go fit take.

Shey this man has gone to court and has won the day.

Some men like us don't need to go to court, we will just make sure the woman collects.

As igbos get craze na so other tribes get craze.

A big advice is for you people to stop forcing your ways on others so as to make other tribes look at you igbos in a good light.

Even if you are good and every other person says you are bad then it means you are bad.

Your tradition of dowry another be better than other tribes.

Force your tradition on your kind and not to others and believe you me there will be peace and respect.

I repeat only weak men will be fighting g to take others children because tootooo too sweet am.

Your dowry matter is all about making g money a d nothing more.
It's barbaric and evil

igbankwu nwanyi is a well respected tradition.
The man should go and pay bride price !! Nobody is dragging his wife and children with him.

The judge will call it whatever name he Wants because it’s not an English tradition.

Don't call her his wife after all he has. Ot paid the dowry.
Is it not better your women wait for dowry to be paid before they start having children for a man whose tradition is different from yours.

Will it not be better for the children also if the igbo woman does not have to change father.

Be honest with ur self who suffers when a dowry is not paid, is it not the children.

Enlighten your women to stick to their kind or better still confirm the dowry is paid before they start giving birth.

Well sha everything about it o is money money money.

How much you people will make from the dowryis all that matters to you people. It's business for you people as always.

Stop the evil tradition or go to court.

Like I said before,
Are you more knowledgeable than the judge.

Enlighten your women and stop spreading evil.

I hate person's who like evil and I hate a group of people more who like evil.
Your ways are evil and barbaric as stated by the judge.

Wake up and smell the coffee as your ways make people to hate you guys.

it’s her business to find love wherever she want not disrespecting the tradition of where she’s coming from . .
Her family is ready to take full responsibility of the children till her husband pay her diary
That is Igbo culture.
Here she can choose to continue living with her husband, she should not forget that she’s not married yet ! Living with a man and having kids like dogs doesn’t mean you are married hello

You are right to say she is having kids like dogs.
Ur way says dowry before you can claim to be a father.
What of the man's way.
It's her business to find love and marry when her dowry is paid instead of giving birth like dogs as you rightly said.

Tell her to go to a higher court like the supreme court to challenge the decision of the judge that said her igbo tradition is a barbaric one.

Because your igbo women fuuk anything and e erything in sight they end up selling the infant thats why you have more of baby factories because your evil and barbaric tradition allows it.

If you think or believe the judge is wrong g in labeling such as evil and barbaric then you should advice her to go to a supreme court to challenge the decision of the lower court.

Like it or not it is evil to take children and give another man on the ground that dowry was not paid.
Only stupid men from your part will claim another man's children on the grounds that dowry was not paid.

Where I come from I am very certain that our men will never take another man's children and give the children our name because dowry was not paid by the other man.
Who does that.
Some men stupid for this life sha to want to claim another man children.

Una .e. no go go born their own.

Biologically they are his children, nobody is denying that fact right ??
He need to get married to the women properly else everyone knows especially the igbos knows he’s wasting his time .

Won't it be better if the igbo women stick to their kind that pays dowry so that the children won't have to suffer for it.

Nigerian men won’t even provide and take good care of their wife and children. undecided

It's not devaluation but Re-denomination... It's what they call it. It's a bit confusing.

If our refineries are working optimally then we can refine what we use and sell both the crude and refined products.

Massive investments in our agricultural sector to increase production for not only self sufficiency but exportation.

Electricity is very important as well and I don't even see any sense in supplying neighboring countries with electricity when we don't have.

Generally, we just need to do more of exporting than importing.

Ghana went this same route in 2007 and it worked for them. I believe this can still work if we're sincere and not have people who would be scheming to sabotage the system.

You are absolutely correct so far we can export and earn dollars.
