Here are some important things you need to know b4 u start this journey:
Simple enough, here
are 50 things you
wish you knew before
starting medical
school.
1. If I had known
what it was
going to be
like, I would
never have
done it.
2. You’ll study
more than you
ever have in
your life.
3. Only half of
your class will
be in the top
50%. You have
a 50% chance
of being in the
top half of your
class. Get used
to it now.
4. You don’t need
to know
anatomy before
school starts.
Or pathology.
Or physiology.
5. Third year
rotations will
suck the life out
you.
6. Several people
from your class
will have intimate relationships
with each
other. You
might be one of
the lucky
participants.
7. You may
discover early
on that
medicine isn’t
for you.
8. You don’t have
to be AOA or
have
impeccable
board scores to
match
somewhere –
only if you’re
matching into
radiology.
9. Your social life
may suffer
some.
10. Pelvic exams
are teh suck.
11. You won’t be a
medical student
on the surgery
service. You’ll
be the retractor
bitch.
12. Residents will
probably ask
you to retrieve
some type of
nourishment for
them.
13. Most of your
time on
rotations will be
wasted. Thrown

14. You’ll work with
at least one
attending
physician who
you’ll want to

18. At some point

stay, a

come into
contact with
your exposed

your class will
flunk out of
medical school.
20. You’ll work 14
days straight
without a single
day off.

y2k62: *singing in frank Edwards' voice* Lord I love you so!!... My Testimony is kinda different. After 3yrs of hustling drowned by issues here and there, I finally took the step faith. Sat for JAMB and later PUME. I did well under very, very, believe me difficult conditions. By the grace of God I'd be in school come the end of the year (after 4yrs-2009-2013) studying not just any course but the course I have always loved - MEDICINE AND SURGERY. I didn't need 'long legs', I only needed a big hand...the hand of God. With just the 1st attempt at JAMB God has done it for me. *still sobbing* Still hustling...by God's grace I'd have enough to complete my clearance and still have enough to keep me going. To all who will be viewing this post, the idea is even if you feel like you're dying or being drowned by your situation keep your FAITH HIGH. Believe in God and he'll do it for you. At 20 I can say it's not too late to go for a 6-year course. I'm waiting for this new challenge.
