TYPES OF DOCTORS

Doctors, also called physicians, have an effect on everyone’s life. They treat people when they are sick or hurt. They give advice to patients to help keep them fromgetting sick. They bandage knees, prescribe medicine, sew up cuts, and operate on bones. They bring new babies into the world and comfort older people who are sick or dying. Some Doctors see all kinds of patients, and other Doctors only see patients with a particular illness or injury. There are even doctors who never see patients at all. In the United States alone, there are over a half-million Doctors. They all do different things, and they are all important in their own way.

Family Practice Doctors

Most people have a family Doctor. This is the person who sees and treats all members of the family. These Doctors are usually called family practice or primary care Doctors. They are trained to provide medical care to everyone from pregnant mothers to babies and adults. If their patients need further treatment, or need more specialized care, family practice Doctors may refer them to a specialist.
Some family practice Doctors work in large or medium-sized cities, where thereare a number of Hospitals and many physicians. Others, like Dr. Larry Curtis, are“country” or “rural Doctors,” who may be the only physician to serve an entire county of people. Country doctors work insmall, rural towns such as Driggs, Idaho, where Dr. Curtis has his medical practice. He says that he enjoys being a country Doctor because he feels at home in a small town and thinks of his patients as his friends. Also, he must deal with a wide variety of medical needs, as he explains: “At fall harvest, an injured farmer might not want to travel [to a distant town] for treatment. He might ask, ‘Sew me up quick, doc, so I can get back to work.’

Emergency Doctors

Many Doctors have regular office hours and see most of their patients during the daytime. This is not the case, however, with emergency room (ER) doctors. ER Doctors see patients at all hours of the day and night. Over 100 million people visit emergency rooms each year, for all kinds of reasons. ER doctors see patients for everything from broken bones to breathing problems, from food poisoning to pneumonia. In fact, there is no other type of doctor who sees such a variety of medical problems as an ER Doctor.
Some hospitals have different types of emergency rooms—for instance, those that fly. The MCG Health System in Augusta,Georgia, has a large emergency room on the ground and a smaller one in the air. The hospital owns a specially equipped helicopter that serves as a flying emergency room. It resembles a miniature hospital ER, and it is staffed with an ER Doctor and two other emergency medical professionals. When every second counts because a patient is seriously ill or injured, the three jump in with the pilot and take off in the “flying ER.”

Surgeons

Doctors who perform operations are called surgeons. Years ago almost all surgery was performed by general surgeons. As medicine became more advanced, surgery became more specialized. Today general surgeons perform many types of common surgeries such as removal of tonsils, appendix, or breast lumps and repairing hernias. However, there are also specialist surgeons who operate only on particular areas of the body.
Plastic surgeons repair body parts that are abnormal in some way, from injury, disease, or birth defects. They also perform “cosmetic” surgery on patients, which is surgery that improves a patient’s appearance. Several other types of surgeons include orthopedic surgeons, who operate on bones, joints, muscles, nerves, and tendons;neurosurgeons (brain surgeons) who operate on the brain and surrounding nerves; and pediatric surgeons, who perform surgery on children, from newborn babies to teenagers.
Some pediatric surgeons specialize in children’s Heart conditions, and are called pediatric heart surgeons. Dr. Tom Karl, of UCSF Children’s Hospital in San Francisco, is a well-known pediatric heart surgeon. During the summer of 2002, Dr. Karl traveled to Nicaragua with a team of health care professionals. While he was there, he and his team performed surgery on twenty children who were born with heart defects

Jetibrain: pls just tell me why u hav such a strong faith is it attributed 2 any form of runz or do u tink d cutoff wud b less dis yr
My Boss, seriously I don't know any Lecturer from Uniben and I have not used any form of runs right from the Jamb to the post ume. But trust me, my name has already be selected into MedIcine and Surgery list.

It is God that is backing me up. U will be surprise on how I was selected if u happened to see it.

People score very high than me but it happened that the grace of God cover me and I was selected. I am not joking cuz my admision this year has a reason. I scored 62 as aggregate & my friend that I met 2011 post ume scored 68. Both of us will be admitted. It may sound like a joke but I am saying the truth.

God favour supersede any form of help from man

I am on the side line viewing cut off mark being posted here and smiling.

So many person panic and believe man rather than God.

When the list is out, everyone here will decide from that moment onward wether it is God that can be trusted or it is man that can be trusted.

I will advice u to start putting ur trust in God now. I know why I typed this to u.

My name is already on the list since on Monday. How it got into the list is best known to God cuz he was the one that said touch not my Candidate. This is a race that God can run for u and u sit down and watch him.

But it is so unfortunate to see other panicking and asking if they will be admitted instead of asking God for grace.

Build ur faith and remove any form of doubt frm ur mind and see if God will not give u ur real course.

As for me, my course has already been given to me.

If anyone doubt me here then watch out for me in the faculty of Medicine for those going Med

SO MANY PERSONS ARE NOT BOLD ENOUGH TO DECREE AND DECLARE THEIR ADMISION TO COME TO PASS. THEY PANIC WITH EVERY SLIGHT CUT OFF MARK POSTED HERE.

AS FOR ME, MY ADMISION IS REST ASSURE. NO MATTER HOW HIGH PEOPLE SCORES ARE, MY SLOT CAN NEVER BE GIVEN TO ANOTHER PERSON. EVEN IF THEY FIX CUT OFF MARK TO BE 75, I HAVE SURELY BEEN ADMITTED.

THESE ADMISION OFFICERS ARE MEN LIKE U AND ME. BUT THE PERSON THAT IS BACKING ME UP RIGHT NOW IS THE SUPER ULTIMATE. HE CAN DO ANYTHING. HE IS THE GREATEST MANIPULATOR. HE IS THE DEAN OF ALL DEANS. THE LECTURER OF ALL LECTURERS.

HE IS THE ONE THAT KNOWS THE OUTCOME OF THIS ADMISION. HE HAS HIS OWN CANDIDATES. AND HIS CANDIDATES ARE COVER BY HIS GRACE. TOUCH NOT MY ANNOINTING HE SAID.

THIS ADMISION LIST IS GOING TO FAVOUR THOSE WHO PUT THEIR TRUST IN HIM & NOT THE MERE FIGURES.

AS I HAVE REITERATED SEVERALLY, MY NAME IS ALREADY ADDED TO THE LIST. THAT IS IF U KNOW WHAT GOD CAN DO FOR U, U WILL UNDERSTAND WHAT I MEAN.

IT IS NOT THAT MY SCORE WAS HIGH BUT MY NAME GOT IN THE LIST.

MY ADMISION THIS YEAR WILL SERVE AS FAITH BUILDING TO THE WORLD. IF I CAN MAKE IT INTO MED WITH 62 , SURELY U CAN MAKE IT TOO. THE DIFFERENCE IS JUST THE DEGREE OF UR FAITH.

WHEN U HAVE DOUBT IN UR MIND THEN IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO TRUST GOD RATHER U WILL PANIC BY MERE STATEMENT OF OTHERS.

TRUST IN GOD WITH ALL UR MIND AND HE WILL GRANT U UR HEART DESIRE.

LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING ALL MY FELLOW MED SURG ADMITTEE SOON IN THE FACULTY OF MEDICINE.

YOURS FAITHFULLY

ADMITTED

ASUU UPDATE

Indication emerged yesterday
that the Academic Staff Union of
Universities (ASUU) may call off
its ongoing strike before or soon
after the Sallah celebration, as the
federal government may have
caved in to the demands of the
union by meeting about 60 per
cent of what it is asking for.
This was the outcome of a
closed-door meeting between
President Goodluck Jonathan
yesterday and Benue State
Governor Gabriel Suswam;
Minister of Education, Prof.
Ruqqayat Rufa’i as well as some
other ministers over the current
industrial action being embarked
by ASUU.
Other ministers who were at the
meeting with the president on
Monday evening included the
minister of finance and the
coordinating minister of the
economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-
Iweala, and Minister of Labour
and Productivity, Chief Emeka
Wogu.
No official statement was issued
at the end of the meeting, as
Suswam, Okonjo-Iweala and
Wogu declined to comment on
the outcome of the meeting
despite effort made by State
House Correspondents to make
them talk.
A reliable presidency source told
LEADERSHIP that, at the meeting,
President Jonathan directed
Suswam and the ministers to do
all they could to ensure that
strike is called off by the union,
saying that Jonathan was very
worried that the ASUU strike was
distorting the academic calendar,
his immediate constituency

Nigeria declares Thursday and Friday Public Holiday

The Minister also “enjoined all Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to extend the spiritual benefits of Ramadan, which are love, joy, peace, to their daily living and through this, contribute to the development of the nation.”
Mr. Moro while wishing Nigerians a peaceful celebration also urged Nigerians to seize the opportunity of the holiday to reflect on the imperative of peace in nation building

The days are counting. Just waiting patiently to print out my admision status.

Uniben can't escape me this time around. Let them have all the slots , my course has already been given to me. I am sounding it repeatedly to show u guys how sure I am about this my admision. It is not just an admision. It is more than that cuz it is my real course that has been given to me. As I have typed, my name has been boldly written on the merit list. All the admision officers have no option than to leave my name on that list. Even when they try to remove it, they can't. They will try to but they can't. U see why am so sure of my admision?

Watch out for me in the faculty of Medicine.

If u don't mind u can search for me on the clearance day at Auditorium u will surely see me.

If u are referring to last year and still considering wether to go for the State Uni that had offered u admision into Med then I don't think the admision will still be waiting for u to accept it. It has expired
