One thing I noticed is that some people do run away from getting dividend with the intention to come back after markdown, but I just think if the fund is not urgently needed, one can always buy, get the dividend and still wait for price appreciation later.......that's if the person didn't enter at bargain price.
Me, I will soon become an investor grin ...but will still be doing jijo sha. tongue

PS: This is just my opinion.

. Exactly. It applies to both funds settlement as well as share settlement. T + 3 = 4days. anyone who didn't buy before Wednesday will not qualify for dividend.
You guys are getting this whole thing twisted. We're no more in analogue era.
Why is it that you sell a stock and can use the fund to buy another one almost immediately? Anyone that buys today will be qualified, reason for the qualification date. List of qualified investors wouldn't even be drawn on same date, could be much later, only that the last date will be used for drawing the list.
OK. I can see that OGG addressed this already.

No chance. I believe you need a T+3 for the shares to settle. If you buy tomorrow, your name would not be on the register as at the COB 2moro
Thought T+3 applies to fund settlement?
Anyone that buy shares on the qualification date before COB will qualify.
Someone will advice that he shouldn't buy again but wait to enter after qualification date cos the price may go lower or something......there could be exception to this if market is stable I think.
@Ibrahim505 you can only buy if you want to keep it for long
..... difficult to advice anyone during this period self. grin

I also got alert for the tashere registrar's units I have. smiley

PharmAlfred:
UCAP is experiencing serious sell down even with the juicy dividend. Na wa for NSE.
I wonder what could cause this cos there's a cool money to be made here.
For instance, someone with 5M units will get N2.5M (excluding vat) as dividend, isn't this something?

Anyway, for whoever that's still interested in the dividend, there's still an opportunity to pick in tomorrow's market, which is the final qualification day. Will be marked down on Monday 9th before commencement of trading. Q1 result is also around the corner.

Caveat: Just a harmless advice for dividend hunter and a medium-long term investor.

@Mcy. we might not say it or quote you, but your presence here can't be underrated. The very fact that amongst a male dominated thread, you are the only consistent female that has a strong footing here is enough to be commended. ( In developed countries where intangibles like this are cited, you will be preped for top leadership positions in multi nationals).

Please keep doing what you are doing. people will always have opinions and they are entitled to it by the way but don't let it affect you. you will be really missed if you leave us grin

If him like make him chop amala spaghetti and ewedu saporati macarino...there is no coronavirus in nigeria.
You're right. There's no Corona virus anywhere in Nigeria.
I was discussing similar thing with some guys in one related topic as well.
I said those th.iev.es were simply looking for ways of siphoning fund or have a share of their own cake from the fund earmarked for the epidemic.
It's a set up and a planned work. The Italian man will collect his own contract share after everything. Shikena! grin
So Italian suddenly developed how to eat amala and ewedu! Wonders shall never end in this country. grin

Having read some of the submissions on monitoring daily price movement or not, I must say I've learnt few things along the line.
Anyway, fyi, I used to do this for myself cos it's convenient for me.
I only extend this to the forum as a way of contributing or giving back in my own little way.
I understood daily updates didn't sit well with some, maybe at one time or the other they allowed emotions to have a better part of them and took some wrong decisions based on it but let me remind you that, as a trader and jijo-ist, it's really in order with me. I'm happy few people benefitted from this as well, that's such a relief.
I will withdraw the service to myself again, after-all majority are registered with digital broker and can do this themselves too. Besides, it's not like I get paid for giving updates anyway.
Make Una no vex. smiley

NB: Boss Seyisanya , Oga Chibuking81 , Sir Rebekah, oga Oakpearl and of cos, Sir Pluto09 I appreciate your contributions, I've learnt from your "for and against'. Really helpful. wink

Anyway, you said well. Thank you.

Fbnh leaped with whooping 50kobo today to close at 5.65.
I knew it will reverse up with the crazy bids below 4.50.
The moneybag with 30M single bid below 4.50 has been surfacing regularly these days. Another 20M moneybag joined him. If something is not after them, then they're after something. That was how 100M single bid was pursuing it at btw N3-N4 then, the guy must have smiled to the bank when it hit N12.
Only dicerning mind can understand this ......but someone said it's fake bid. lipsrsealed

** Na my own I just talk o, not promoting Fbnh, I dont even have it.......but I think whosoever is interested could set his/her trap at N4 region again, if fear go gree you.*

You don't know how long the panic will last, but if you are liquid, have an uninterrupted cash flow or you have a minimum of 2 years of your living expenses in cash or money market funds you have nothing to fear and you are good to go.

The main cause of the panic and fear is when people have all their funds in the market, no uninterrupted cash flow and they will need to sell their shares in order to be liquid
You're right sir. Especially the second part.

Being an investor pays, especially with good and healthy stocks.
I'm really eyeing that section now with the digital trading in vogue.......one can always monitor his/her portfolio and the coys performances.
Will just build on two stocks first, then start adding additional one by one as funds show.
The secret is to lay low and strike during panic or bad news time when prices are low, by God's grace.

BTW, if I am after dividends, why should I leave Zen and go for GTB? Just thinking out loud.
Very correct sir.
I'll rather go for Zenith than gtb too..............but you know gt is highly favoured, its just like IBTC too.

Boss, people do this.
In a situation where market is going up, it used to pay well.
