Nairaland General › Diversion Of $ 1bn Rail Transport Loan by mdbissalla(op): 5:53am On Aug 11, 2015 |
Buhari Questions PS Over Diversion Of $ 1bn Rail Transport Loan Under Okonjo -Iweala’s Watch President Muhammed Buhari on Monday asked the Ministry of Finance to provide explanations on the whereabouts of the foreign loans obtained for rail projects but diverted to other purposes under the watch of former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The president directive followed an instance of the diversion of a substantial part of the loan of USD1.005 billion from the Chinese Exim Bank, meant for the construction of a standard gauge rail line linking Lagos and Kano States. President Buhari, who was briefed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport, Alhaji Mohammed Bashar was informed that only $400 million was left of the loan. “I hope that due process was followed before such diversions were carried out. Taking money from one project to another has to be done properly,” Buhari warned. He expressed regret that government had, over the years, failed to meet its counterpart funding obligation on some projects, leading to such projects being left uncompleted or abandoned. He added that there was a clear need to streamline, harmonize, and prioritize ongoing projects in the transportation sector. Politics › Buhari’s Appointments Vindicated Our Stand – S/east APC by mdbissalla(op): 11:42pm On Aug 09, 2015 |
The South East chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the current appointment of President Muhammadu Buhari has vindicated its position that every region of the country under his watch will receive equal and fair treatment. A statement by the zonal spokesman of the APC, Mr Osita Okechuwku on Friday said the appointment of Dr Ibe Kachikwu and Engr. Dennis Ajulu as GMD and GED Exploration and Production of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) respectively and the enlistment of Enugu Airport among those to be upgraded were clear indication and demonstration that Mr. President bears no grudge against Ndigbo for not voting for him. The South-East APC, however, appealed to Mr. President to consider the ‘dilapidated’ federal roads in the zone, the second Niger Bridge, the Enugu Coal, and the tangle between Geometric Power and Interstate Electric in Aba, among others. Politics › Re: Buhari Wants NNPC To Be Sole Importers Of Petroleum Products – Emefiele by mdbissalla(op): 12:21pm On Aug 09, 2015 |
i wonder why people keep saying/thinking that dis is not going to possible. however, i dont blame such people, its not their fualt. its a result of a failed system or bad governance. i think dis is very simple & very easy to achieve. all NNPC needs to do is to engage as many private refineries as possible to pertake in the "i give you crude oil, you give me refine product" then government takes care of transportation. gradually, NNPC owned refineries get to refine & reduce d dependance on importation.
it only take Truth & Sincerity of Purpose to achieve this.
Baba Buhari, pls Go-Slow & Slowly. dnt rush. we want you to arrive safely |
Politics › Re: Buhari Wants NNPC To Be Sole Importers Of Petroleum Products – Emefiele by mdbissalla(op): 11:06am On Aug 09, 2015 |
janus05: Even with the most prudent administrators, it will cost billions and take NNPC years to have the capacity to be sole importer. Tank farms takes money and time. Plus so many other logistics. What happens during the wait? We can't go back to NNPC now. The solution is total end on subsidy. This will encourage private refineries to spring up. All the talks about port Harcourt and kaduna refineries starting production are bogus. There are things government can't really do well especially in Nigeria. ok woo its your own opinion & point of view... |

Jesusloveyou: increase ke, that will reduce d price, no cabal will be importing fuel 140 naira again with d hope of getting double subsidy, if nnpc import with 100 naira,we will all know how much govt is paying for subsidy, that will reduce fuel price to less than 80 naira, before coming down to 60 naira when our refinery will be fully working, you are really on point... |

The Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, in this interview with the Financial Times of London explained why he believes recent steps like cutting off dollar access to importers of certain key goods will enable him to avoid further devaluing the currency - a strategy widely criticised by the market, which believes putting off another devaluation risks more economic instability. He justified restricting imports by saying it would stimulate local production and gave his views on the state of the parallel market and liquidity. He also discussed efforts by the country’s new president to block leakages and recover stolen oil revenues. Here are excerpts from Mr Emefiele’s interview with the Financial Times: Read More>>> |
