The Irish Aviation Authority is investigating reports of bright lights and UFOs off the south-west coast of Ireland.

It began at 06:47 local time on Friday 9 November when a British Airways pilot contacted Shannon air traffic control.

She wanted to know if there were military exercises in the area because there was something "moving so fast".

The air traffic controller said there were no such exercises.

The pilot, flying from the Canadian city of Montreal to Heathrow, said there was a "very bright light" and the object had come up along the left side of the aircraft before it "rapidly veered to the north".

She was wondering what it could be but said it did not seem to be heading for a collision.

Another pilot from a Virgin plane joined in and suggested it might be a meteor or another object re-entering the earth's atmosphere.

He said there were "multiple objects following the same sort of trajectory" and that they were very bright.

The pilot said he saw "two bright lights" over to the right which climbed away at speed.

One pilot said the speed was "astronomical, it was like Mach 2" - which is twice the speed of sound.

"Following reports from a small number of aircraft on Friday 9 November of unusual air activity the IAA has filed a report," the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) said.

"This report will be investigated under the normal confidential occurrence investigation process."

A spokesperson for Shannon Airport said it would not be appropriate for the airport to comment while the IAA investigation is ongoing

[s]I am not entirely happy with the performance of PMB over the past 3 years (herdsmen menace in particular and cronyism ) but I remain a pragmatic fan because I know he has kept the 'Wolves at bay' like others can't and is probably the best President for current Nigeria because of a silent 'strongman' style that gets a lot done in the background ordinary Nigerians do not see.

PMB is not an attention seeker and the next President after PMB will have it easier as many of the destructive old boys like Atiku and OBJ will be finished for good and rendered impotent.

Regarding the election, PMB will win by a landslide because Atiku is totally the wrong choice, as a despised elitist Northerner the talakawas cannot identify with, while Obi is simply a no-no for many in the SW and North. Obi , showing nauseating bigotry and lack of intelligence, once said, and I quote, Igbos should not vote for "the Yoruba Party" when Ngige ran on the platform of the ACN. He insinuated directly that the Yorubas are enemies to be rejected, as Kanu, does dauly, and I am sure this will be a major campaign logo agisnt him in the SW to the extent only self-hating Yorubas will vote a man who has showed open disdain for their ethnic group.

A former commissioner in Benue State, Mrs. Rebecca Akpedzan, has said that with the way Benue people were slaughtered by Fulani herdsmen this year, any person in the state voting the All Progressive Congress is committing suicide.

Akpedzan, who is the first state secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, said that the experience of the people of the state in the hands of herdsmen, with no support from the APC-led Federal Government, made the people believe that the ‘APC is a Miyetti Allah party.’

“Any sane Benue person that votes for the APC is committing suicide, given the pains we have gone through. Even if you were not directly affected by the crisis, at least your neighbour or somebody from your village was affected.”

The former commissioner who held office during Governor George Akume’s administration also slammed the Federal Government for introducing vote buying across the country.

She alleged that the money given to traders by Vice President Yemi Osibanjo was a tactical way of buying their votes.
