NonsoWow: Obiano has since debunked this false claim that peter obi left 78 billion naira for him. Peter obi should stop using his lackeys in the media to reopen old wounds. It won't do him any good. If he hasn't learned his lesson and still thinks that Obiano is inconsequential in his VP aspiration as far as Anambra is concerned, he will get flogged again. Go and watch Anambra state governorship debate. Obiano was stuttering like a fool when he was asked about the money Mr. Peter Obi left. Obiano ans his cronies have turned Anambra to a joke. A thousand Obiano can never match Peter Obi's achievement in Anambra state |

Peter Obi is one of the things that gives Atiku's candidacy credulity for me.
If Atiku had picked any other person, even if it was my kinsman, I won't be interested in the 2019 elections but with Mr. Peter Obi on that ticket, there is a chance of getting it right for once in this country |

I believe the Igbo grievance in Nigeria is one of the simplest thing any good leader can address. The Igbos are not asking for too much and would need much to be pacified.
What made Igbos join Ojukwu in his unprepared war was that Ojukwu banked on how Igbo blood was spilled with reckless abandon at any slightest opportunity. Igbos didn't join Ojukwu or are endorsing Nnamdi Kanu's hateful approach because of economic gains but for the fact that some Nigerians have no remorse, are even ready to spill more Igbo blood and are boasting about it.
Igbos are enterprising and need a market as big as and even bigger than Nigeria
If 1. Nigeria can technically apologise to the Igbos. Not oral apology per say.. by eg. Designating a day like May 30th to be a day of remembering people who died in the war, from both sides, make it a national holiday.. I believe something like this can go a long way in pacifying Igbos. 2. Make the country a bit fair; make appointments according to federal character. Just the little things and then don't make Biafra a taboo word. We can even start referring to Igbos as Biafrans as we use Aboki for Hausas. 3. Win the Biafran radicalism with logic, not with military force and coercion.
Biafrans are more patriotic than most Nigerians sef..
I say again, it won't take so much to unite us in this country, we just need a good person to do it. |

Politics › N29bn Fraud: Court Grants Nyako’s Request To Travel Abroad by MeanChris(op): 10:35pm On Oct 24, 2018 |
Wednesday, October 24th 2018 Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court sitting in Maitama Abuja, on Tuesday granted an application by a former governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, seeking the release of his travelling documents to enable him travel to Germany for medical check-up.
Moving the application dated September 20, Ibrahim Isiyaku, representing the 4th and 8th defendants, urged the court to grant the application on health grounds.
Responding, counsel to the EFCC, Rotimi Jacobs, who raised no objection to the application said, “the defendant has never made such application and as such I have no reason to object.”
Justice Abang granted the application and directed the Chief Registrar of the Court to release Mr Nyako’s international passport for renewal to enable him travel for medical check-up
The judge, however, added that Nyako should ensure that “he is back in the country on or before December 30, 2018”, upon which he shall re-submit his traveling documents to the court.
Earlier, Mr Jacobs had informed the court that the matter was for continuation of hearing of the PW20, adding that the said witness was unavoidably absent in court. He asked the court for another date to present the witness.
Mr Isiyaku, who held brief for Mr Nyako’s counsel, Kanu Agabi, did not oppose the application.
Justice Abang granted the prosecution’s prayer and adjourned to October 25 for continuation of hearing.
Mr Nyako is facing trial in a N29 billion fraud charge preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
He is being prosecuted alongside his son, Abdul-Aziz Nyako, Abubakar Aliyu and Zulkifikk Abba on a 37-count charge of criminal conspiracy, stealing, abuse of office and money laundering.
Five companies that allegedly served as conduit pipes for illegal diversion of the funds- Blue Opal Limited, Sebore Farms and Extension Limited, Pagoda Fortunes Limited, Tower Assets Management Limited and Crust Energy Limited, were equally charged before the court as the 5th to 9th defendants. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/nnorth-east/292240-alleged-n29bn-fraud-court-grants-nyakos-request-to-travel-abroad.html

Politics › Peter Obi Meets With EU, WEF Delegations On 2019 Election by MeanChris(op): 9:07pm On Oct 24, 2018 |
Posted By: Gbade Ogunwale, Abuja On: October 24, 2018 The vice presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Peter Obi on Wednesday in Abuja met with delegations from the European Union (EU) and the World Economic Forum (WEF) to discuss the need to conduct free and fair elections in 2019 and also how to grow the nation’s economy through collaboration. Obi who stood in for the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar at the separate meetings, told the EU delegation that efforts should be made to stop the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from intimidating candidates of opposition political parties who, he said, now live in fear. A statement released in Abuja by the Atiku campaign office said that the EU should insist on a level playing field for all candidates and parties during the 2019 elections in Nigeria, adding that “there is a need to get the country back to its feet and make it better for our children”. Obi was also quoted to have said that campaigns should be based on issues so that the electorate and the international community can come to grasp with the problems of the country, as well as the solutions being proffered by each of the political parties and their candidates. Has was similarly quoted to have said that there was need for agencies like the EU to strengthen and support the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The former Anambra Governor said that judging from what happened during gubernatorial elections in Ekiti and Osun states, INEC needs to show that it remains an unbiased umpire in future elections in the country. On the issue of vote buying, Obi described the incidence as a new phenomenon that must be stopped. “I contested and won elections when I was in a smaller party. Where would I have gotten the money to buy votes if it was the case then and how would I have gotten back the money especially when I am going to serve the people”, Obi was quoted to have said. On the new found unity of the PDP, the vice presidential candidate said the evidence could be seen from the outcome of the party’s free and fair presidential primary election conducted in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State on October 7, 2018 where all the presidential aspirants agreed that it was the best so far. On whether there was need for a fresh EU election observer group following the impending expiration of the tenure of the present group, Obi said that Nigeria deserved a replacement based on the role EU would play in ensuring free and fair elections in Nigeria in 2019 In his comments, the head of the EU delegation, Ketil Karlsen was quoted to have said that the election observer group has been consulting stakeholders in Nigeria to ascertain whether or not it would be necessary for the Union to send a new EU election observer mission. He said that the EU mission had been operating in Nigeria since 1999 and that the Union had invested over 100 million Euros in Nigeria’s election processes since then. While speaking with officials of WEF at a separate meeting, Obi emphasised the need for closer working relationship with African countries, especially Nigeria, saying that most governments in the continent do not want to work with the forum for fear of being criticised. He said that many governments in Africa implement activities that are “transactional instead of transformational” and therefore needed help to shape their policies. “A lot of work needs to be done in Africa because things are tough. The presidential and vice presidential candidates of the PDP have a clear picture of what the economic priorities are and what the international community feels about the country”. “Nigeria needs to do something immediately for its economy to be put back on track and something has to be done immediately”, Obi was quoted to have said. Leader of the WEF delegation, Nontle Kabanyane was quoted to have said that the Forum was ready to strengthen relationships and to implement more activities in Nigeria through a collaboration that would lead to national transformation. http://thenationonlineng.net/peter-obi-meets-with-eu-wef-delegations-on-2019-election/

Daviddson: In judicial parlance, "closing a case" does not mean ending that case. It means that the prosecutor (in this case, EFCC) has laid out all its case with evidence, etc, and it's now the time for the defendant, Badeh (or through his lawyers) to start his own defence by trying to pick holes, errors, etc, in the way EFCC has argued its case against him or even outrightly deny everything. Mistake on my part, I'm lay in the field of law and the associated parlance. Thanks for clarifications. Apologies |

Channels Television Updated October 24, 2018 Alleged N3.9bn Money Laundering: Court Adjourns Badeh’s Trial The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Tuesday, closed its case against a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh (Rtd), who is facing trial over allegations of money laundering to the tune of N3.9bn.
The former Air Staff boss is standing trial alongside Iyalikam Nigeria Limited, before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja.
He is being accused of abusing his position by diverting Nigeria Air Force, NAF, funds for personal enrichment, and acquisition of properties in choice areas in Abuja.
He was first arraigned in 2015 on a 10-count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust, abuse of office and money laundering to the tune of N3.9billion.
In a statement by the spokesman of the anti-graft agency, Wilson Uwujaren, says, “Upon discovery of fresh evidence, Badeh was re-arraigned by the anti-graft agency on July 4, 2018, on an amended 14-count charge bordering on money laundering, which he pleaded not guilty to.
One of the new charges reads:
“That you, Air Chief Marshal Alex S. Badeh (Rtd) And Iyalikam Nigeria Limited on or about 24th February 2016 in Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did retain possession of the sum of $1,000,000.00 (One Million Dollar) only which you kept at No.6 Ogun River Street, Off Danube Street, Maitama, Abuja which funds you reasonably ought to have known formed part of the proceed of your unlawful activity to wit: theft, criminal breach of trust or corruption and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 15 (2) (d) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 2011 as amended in 2012 and punishable under Section 15 (3) of the same Act”.
The statement further said that “At the resumed sitting, counsel to the EFCC, Rotimi Jacobs, SAN, told the court that the prosecution would be closing its case, after calling 21 witnesses to prove the charge against the defendant (Badeh).
“With the close of the prosecution’s case, the stage is set for the defendant to prove his innocence on the charges preferred against him”.
However, Badeh’s counsel, Akin Olujimi, SAN, informed the court of the defence’s intention to make a no-case submission, noting that the prosecution had failed to establish the necessary ingredients as to warrant an explanation from the defendant.
Justice Abang asked the defence to serve the prosecution with the processes within 21 days and the prosecution to respond within 10 days after service.
Thereafter, the case was adjourned to November 21, 2018, for the adoption of written addresses on the no-case submission https://www.channelstv.com/2018/10/24/alleged-money-laundering-efcc-closes-case-against-badeh/?utm_source=TW&utm_medium=ChannelsTV-+AutoPoster&utm_campaign=SNAP%2Bfrom%2BChannels+Television |
