Politics › Re: PDP Did Not Zone Presidential Candidacy To Yorubas In 1999 by meccuno: 6:36pm On Oct 28, 2019 |
[s] 0monnak0da: There is an aphorism that says that when a lie is told often it becomes "truth".
Another one says
"when water remains in the mouth for long it becomes saliva"
The PDP zoned the 1999 Presidency to the SOUTH that is the reality.
Alex Ekwueme contested against Obasanjo and was roundly defeated . THE PRIMARIES TOOK PLACE IN JOS
Now here is the interesting bit.
The same Alex Ekwueme contested again in 2003 against an incumbent Obasanjo and was defeated by 2642 votes to 611 votes It is anyone's guess where those 611 votes came from( Maybe Tom Ikimi can help)
Why is this important Some may not know or might have forgotten and so when we hear modern Eboe revisionists say they supported Obasanjo we need to set the record straight.
THERE NEVER WAS ANY PDP ZONING TO THE YORUBAS
Rather there was zoning to the south but within the PDP especially in the North there was sympathy to the SW. The Eboes did not share this sympathy but insisted on contesting.
Again in 2003 within the same PDP they insisted on contesting
It is important to contrast this behaviour within the same PDP to what they did in 2011 , 2015 when Goodluck Jonathan contested and also in 2019 when Kwankwaso,Tambuwwal Saraki etc contested. In short they have always seen themselves as natural rivals and spoilers for the SW. Back to 1999 the primaries were done and dusted in the PDP and Obasanjo won . He was not the choice of the Yoruba race rather Falae was. The Eboes voted against him(Falae). We must recall that the Eboes voted against Abiola.
To my mind it amounts to cheap blackmail after the antics of Ekwueme to demand that the Yoruba do not contest against them. Pray tell, what would have happened if Ekwueme defeated Obasanjo in PDP? Did they recognize any TURN
We must set the record straight on this . They did not recognize the turn of the Yoruba and actively contested against it. It was their right and the Yoruba did not begrudge them that. I challenge anyone to show any complaint by the Yoruba when Ekwueme contested Any time the Presidency is zoned to the south the same competition will happen. Do we say to Brazil when they get to the World Cup final to let their opponent win because they have won it before?
The Eboes have no moral basis to ask the Yoruba to cede anything to them . That is the height of dishonesty. The Eboes like to pretend that the North is one and there should be no microzoning there but in the south they remember that there is SW,SS and SE. Why do they not advocate for the Turns of the Tivs,Igala,Jukun,Nupe,Berom etc.
Yes there may be a good argument for an Eboe President but so far we have not heard it. What we hear is a tissue of lies and revisionism
For the record the Eboes did not cede anything to Obasanjo whether in 1999 or 2003 . They contested and were defeated. They would have a moral claim to a "quid pro quo" if they did not contest which is exactly what the North (please note we are talking PDP) did and that is why the North was aggrieved with Goodluck Jonathan's behaviour . Interestingly the Eboes never contested against Jonathan .
One thing we can say for certain. THE YORUBA DO NOT CARRY ANY MORAL BURDEN TO CEDE THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDACY TO EBOES whether in PDP or any other party.
THe Eboes never supported a Yoruba presidency rather they fell in line after defeat [/s] |

[s] References: • Says ex-Lagos gov best man for presidency 2023
Scores of loyalists and supporters of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu have stormed Akure, the Ondo State capital to solicit the support of the people of the state and the South West region for Tinubu presidency in 2023.
The party made up of politicians and non politicians from all the 18 local government areas of the state were under the umbrella of Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) Network Vision which was also inaugurated in the state today.
The group declared that Tinubu is the best person to lead the country, describing him as a political strategist and grassroots mobiliser.
At the meeting were the former Ondo State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Sola Amodeni; former Ondo State lawmaker, Hon Samuel Ade Pelemo; BAT Vision State Coordinator, Akinlolu Ayodele and his deputy, Bukky Oluderu.
Speaking, the coordinator of the group, Ayodele maintained that the BAT vision was not just a group but a network movement to showcase the values and promote the essence of Tinubu’s leadership qualities.
Ayodele said the meeting was to garner all minds together under the umbrella of BAT network vision, focusing on how the APC national leader will attain victory as Nigeria’s president in 2023.
He observed that the platform would be used to test run the 2020 guber poll in the state, urging the citizenry to key into the group’s philosophy.
Amodeni, who extolled the leadership virtues of the former governor said: “I believe in Tinubu’s vision; through his leadership at the national level of governance, Nigeria will not be the same in handling the menace of unemployment, insecurity and economic stagnation.”
The former commissioner emphasised that the present hardship in the country especially …economy and security did not start with the APC.
According to him” eight years of the administration of Buhari cannot even solve the multi-dimensional problem in the country. He is just laying the foundation that the likes of Tinubu can build on solidly, if he is given the mandate to rule after 2023.”
He supported the closure of land borders in Nigeria, stressing that most of the fake drugs, illegal arms and ammunition with other contrabands were brought into the country through the land borders.
Amodeni enthused that with the closure, crime rate was reducing gradually, adding that the order should be permanent and total.
Ijabiyi said: “As a Yoruba man, Tinubu is worth celebrating. He has demonstrated good leadership in all facets of life; I am not hesitating to join the crusade of network movement of BAT to promote his vision for Nigeria.”

[s] Kapeter: The unnecessary fuss i see so many innecessary fuss and foolishness in all FFK falsehood and it's not even funny,
do you even know that it was the hausas that gave fulanis their name? The rest of them all over are known as fula which is their original name and they in turn gave the hausas their name which in turn means 'The southern people' in fulfude.
Anago or Yoruba?
now the last phrase. Pre stone age, during the dark age, only the Northern yorubas(which include oyo, kwara) regards to themselves as Yorubas and many others in the east regards to themselves as anago while others held on to their ethnicity as a name rather than collective names and because of the anagos being one of the major victims of the slave trades, the name anago quickly spread all over other west african countries, till today Ghanaians stil refers to every Nigerians as 'Anago'.
The man that eventually described the entire western people of Nigeria as yoruba in one of his letters wasn't even a Nigeria and never ever been to Nigeria, he made the description based on the influence of the Oyo empire who eventually control every other ethnicity.
The yoruba name was eventually made popular by Ajayi Crowther who while on slavery kept describing himself as a yoruba man rathr than anago which was more popular outside the shores and with the western Nigeria people taking as slaves.
He eventually popularize the yoruba name when he returned home and translated the bible to'Yoruba language'. [/s] |

[s] Kapeter: Opposition is not madness the say buh FFk has taken it far even at the detriment of his own political career.
Now addressing his lies and foolishness.
he peddled some falsehood recently about how the great yoruba came about our collective name.
First: FFK said Yoruba came about from an insulting/derogatory name the Fulanis call us as a people. Totally false.
I challenge FFk himself and all his believers to find a fulani man and ask him if there is any word like Ya.ri.ba in their language. You will be surprised there is nothing like such in fulfude and not even in hausa language, it is just a corrupted way of pronouncing Yoruba just like the whites corrupted Igbos to Ib.os and Ubinu to bennin and same way the hausa soldiers corrupted yen mmiri to 'yan,m.uri' and many more. Our tongues are different, we all can't pronounce other peoples tongue perfectly,
it's something totally impossible.
secondly, i see ffk regarding himself as 'omo karo o jire', this is funny, that isn't meant to be a name of people collectively, that's just a description. It's more like the way some of us call the ibos 'omo n.na', why? Because they call themselves nna and nne, we use that to address them as a people buh that's not their name collctively and also same way we call every northerners 'ab.oki' it's because they refer to themselves as aboki which means friend, we this pick the word to describe them but that doeasn't change the fact they are hausas, nupes, fulanis and all..
He also said he's omoluabi, that is also an appraisal of us. It's a way we praise ourselves as a people and never our collective name.... [/s] |

YorubaNinja: @bolded. Whatever you've been smoking, madam pls, come off it! There's so much you don't know. Are you sure you're a Nigerian at all?
They didn't invest jack! They're all victims of their own misguidance. Their region is so messed up that it's become almost inhabitable for modern civilization. A haven and fortress for savagery. Their negative attitudes, divisibility, and arrogant nature have been the apex reason of their downfall.
Even in the most fairly contested election ever held in the history of this nation where MKO won the north and SW in a landslide, he lost in the SE. Simply because of their sentiments and hatred for Yorubas and anything Yoruba. They supported OBJ cuz they've got no choice as it was btw two Yorubas. They supported OBJ to spite the SW as, the SW supported Falae. They'll do anything to spite Yoruba pple. They opposed PMB simply cuz of Osinbajo, his Yoruba V.P.
The same Yorubas that give them accomodation and roofs upon their heads. No other tribes can successfully thrive in their own region. They're very un-accomodating to other tribes even their own Igbo pple if you're not from their states or localities.
I love progressive minded Igbos... Late Major Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu will always be my hero. I love him to death but, his pple messed up the 1966 coup due to unnecessary sentiments. That's story for another day. Guess who 'strategically' killed him? That coward, Ojukwu!
Of course, not all of them are bad. Majority of the educated ones are great. I've got several Igbo friends and, trust me they sometimes regret their heritage. you harbour all these in your heart at this age. Then you call the people who you despise. Haters. These comments of yours were unwarranted because no one abused or insulted Yorubas but you decided to express your hate filled bitterness. What has the post up there about Achebe got to do with your personal hate filled bitterness? How a human being can move with this envy and bitterness beats my imagination. I pray whatever evil or thoughts you have for these people who have done you no harm shall be returned back to you in ten folds. That is the law of karma 21 Likes |
