You explain why it is economically not sensible to close the borders they call you are smuggler. As one individual said no matter the quantity you produce, you still have to augment. People talk about jobs from agriculture. Please what kind of jobs? Must everybody go to the farm? As another individual said, what we need is employment of a skilled work force. How do people actually think that we can survive or compete when running agriculture like in the days of okonkwo of things fall apart? You need a skilled work force to even go into agriculture not a bunch of iliterate farmers who do not know what it takes to produce in a massive scale. By the way, how did we end up having a discussion on rice as boosting the economy? Nigeria is going down. |

Write this down: The SS is very important to the Igbos coz you’re always using the alliance of the SS as a bargaining power in the south. If you dare lose the brotherhood with the SS ethnicities, the Igbos will play the second fiddle to one of the SS minorities in the South! are you also cursed to always be in threads that are Igbo related then you come and start talking nonsense about how SS does not have Igbos and Igbos want to attach by force. What exactly is your aim on this forum and who are you? You are always active on threads like these. |

America spent years to attain that level hence no need for comparison. We have media at the beck and call but the man at the street lack enough exposure that is why our politician still use religion, tribe and nepotism to deceive the masses if Nnamdi Azikwe or Awolowo had ruled Nigeria from Independence, Nigeria would have been an advanced country. This excuse doesn't hold water. The North has been holding us back even before Independence. Firstly we are not a Nation and will never be.secondly only a Nation can have a democracy. We are rules by proxy from The UK. And their custodians are a tribe and region were 80% are illiterates and not having basic education. |

I watched this Ali guy yapping about how they seized containers filled with rice and groundnut oil that have expired and my feelings told me that the man was lying. It was obvious just watching him carefully. I am yet to understand the economic gain of this border closure. My gut feelings is telling me that there is a reason for this and it is entirely different from the reasons that has been told to the public. If you notice, policies and actions brought by this president is always pro North. Ruga, grasses imported,North East funds, promotion of Northern Muslims into sensitive post, before the election, removal of judges by destroying and tarnishing their image in preparation for election tribunal. Now the army is basically asking for identification nation wide. The BORDER CLOSURE has nothing to do with economics and how the country would move forward but something sinister. A script is being played out. The border closed to be opened January,Enugu airport closed to be completed April. After Christmas. We are watching and the truth would be revealed. All those supporting EVIL,a day of reconning is fast approaching. Whatever you sow you reap. |

An average Igbo man has confidence which probably annoys his host. You must be silly to say i have inferiority complex. Peter Obis record speaks for him. His educational background is stellar he doesn't need to prove ish to you or the slowpoke who even had to compare the two. When it comes to politics i would give it to Tinubu. But educational qualification's,I won't even bring Obis reputation low to his level. Was it no this same Tinubu that claimed he went to a school that he didn't attend? Peter Obis CV is loaded. Sorry your god Tinubu doesn't come close. And please don't include properties he aquired after 1999 because we know he made his money in government. We can't even trace the source of his wealth. |

Politics › Re: Border Closure: Northern Textile Traders Say They Stand To Lose Over N3 Trillion by meccuno: 3:10pm On Nov 03, 2019 |
BUSINESSARENAA: I once said that the closure of these borders is not a properly thought idea, but some ignorant entities were ranting up and down.
Rice is not the only commodity that passes through a border. There are a lot of genuine business that passes through the land border.
If you are importing or exporting to some of the west African countries, it's easier and more cost effective to use the land boarders than the sea port.
Imagine a man exporting textiles to Ghana from Kano, how possibly will he do that through the sea port in APAPA?
I am totally against rice smuggling but the government should have come up with smarter ideas to deal with this issue, and not shutting down the whole boarder.
Presently I have about two trailers of hides and skin from Mali parked at the boarder incurring bills, with high possibility of spoiling within the shortest period of time because of its present condition.
How do I import from Mali to Nigeria through the seaport?
It is only those that does not understand what happens at the land boarders that are jumping up and down.
Once again I reiterate my stance against smuggling rice through the boarders, but we have to be more tactical in handling certain issues as regards to our economy.
This boarder issue in Nigeria is like a fly perching on a man's scrotal sack, you have to apply wisdom in dealing with it, if not you may end up hurting yourself terribly bad if you hit it with great force. smartness is not synonimous to Buhari. |
