the worst marginalization a people can suffer is the one done by his own brothers .that is why when you complain outside they will laugh at you and ask you if it is not your brothers that have destroyed your state resources and put the progress in jeopardy.

We need to tell ourselves the truth
Yes the Nigeria state first marginalised us but Ndigbo are a very resourceful people, if we can stand back to our feet after the war with just 20pounds why can't we turn around our state economies with the millions and billions of allocations we have been receiving.
yes the worst marginalisation is done by brothers from the inside. But my stand still remains that the marginalisation started with the federal government of Nigeria and it is still powered by them. They are the major reason for this marginalisation on the Igbo people and we all know the reasons why. Laugh all you want but that's the fact .

exactly they have marginalized their igbo brothers and the masses more than anybody.
They have come to realize that ipob is the new mass movement that can rally the people.

For me I think this struggle by the ipob should start from the southEast ,they must first liberate themselves from the greedy politicians who have motgaged the future of the masses before moving to liberate themselves from Nigeria.
sorry, i do not agree with this statement of yours. The Nigerian state HAS MARGINALIZED THE IGBOS FIRST BEFORE THE POLITICIANS FROM THE EAST. The reason why Igbos are angry with them is because they have taken sides with those who have decided to treat them unequally.

but that is not what ezeife's statement looks like
He is saying that if you don't give the igbo president they will join to seceed from Nigeria.
Does that make sense to you?
These are the same politicians that have betrayed the SE and Igbos in general. All they know is politics and their pockets nothing more.

This kind of statement is unbecoming of an igbo elite even though ezeife is well respected it only makes it look like we are politically hopeless.

Nobody will give you the presidency on a platter of gold except you work tirelessly for it or get the national assembly to make the office a rotational one amongst all geographical zone.

The igbo politicians should challenge the pdp to zone their 2023 presidential ticket to the southeast zone having supported them a lot in the past and test their political will at the poll.

If you believe in ipob for the actualization of biafra fine but do not tie it to 2023 presidency because it won't work.
The Igbos don't need the presidency. They need equity and justice which Nigeria cannot give to them.

GEJ and his gang of thieves were an absolute disaster. There was freedom of speech yes, but there was more freedom to STEAL especially at the top. There were gonn run Nigeria finances down the gutter had they not been kicked out and I have NO REGRETS being a part of that process. Sowore was right!!!!!!!

Gej's disastrous performance in office pushed Nigerians to Buhari whose propaganda machine convinced the majority that he was now a reformed Democrat. We were wrong and we admit it now. To err is human.

You cant fault sowore's stance against GEJ. The same way he went against GEJ is the same way he went against abacha, babangida, and now buhari. He is persistently been on the side of the truth and constantly fought the political class for the masses. I am yet to see anyone with any concrete proof of corruption against the guy. Not even Gej's houseboy, con-artist Pastor Reno was able to provide any proof of corruption against sowore

NationGist:
“RATHER THAN PROMOTING DIVISION, NIGERIANS SHOULD CONTINUE TO PROMOTE UNITY AND TOGETHERNESS,”

Osinbajo said on Saturday in Osogbo while delivering the 8th convocation lecture of the Osun State University.

He spoke on the theme

“Six Decades of Chequered Nationhood: Nigeria Still Holds The Key To Africa’s Development”.

“IT IS NOT TRUE THAT OUR DIVERSITY IS AN IMPEDIMENT TO OUR SUSTAINABILITY; OUR STRENGTH IS IN OUR SIZE. “

Great nations are those that stay together despite their diversity.

“GOING OUR SEPARATE WAYS WILL NOT SOLVE OUR PROBLEMS; STAYING TOGETHER WILL BE OF GREAT BENEFIT TO US. “

NIGERIA STILL HOLDS THE KEY TO AFRICA’S DEVELOPMENT AND REMAINS A REGIONAL CHAMPION.

“OUR MANIFEST DESTINY IS TO LEAD AFRICA AND THE WORLD, SO WE MUST BE UNITED.

“NIGERIA’S OUTSTANDING ENDOWMENTS ARE FACING CHALLENGES, BUT THE NATION MUST FOLLOW THE PATH THAT MADE OTHER NATIONS GREAT.”

He emphasised the need for Nigeria to embrace merit over quota in appointments, and also invest in human development capital.

The Vice President said that President Muhammadu Buhari was doing everything possible to lift Nigerians out of poverty.

“THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS INVESTING IN INFRASTRUCTURE, AGRICULTURE, EDUCATION, POWER, TECHNOLOGY, INNOVATION AND SOCIAL INVESTMENT PROGRAMMES TO EMPOWER NIGERIANS. “

ON A DAILY BASIS, THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FEEDS 9.5 MILLION CHILDREN UNDER ITS NATIONAL SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAMME IN 26 STATES IN THE COUNTRY.

“ALREADY, 520 NIGERIANS HAVE BEEN ENGAGED UNDER THE N-POWER PROGRAMME, WHILE TRADERMONI PROGRAMME TO EMPOWER PETTY TRADERS IS STILL ONGOING,”

he said.

By Dele Momodu

Fellow Nigerians, please allow me to quickly apologise for not concluding the series I started last week on the importance of celebrity journalism, the basis of my Fellowship at The African Studies Centre, University of Oxford. The reason for this change of plan must be pretty obvious, and predictable. A subject of pressing, and urgent, importance, and necessity, has presented itself. And it has to do with the systematic and instalmental, harassment, intimidation, degradation and denudation of our dear beloved Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo. He is being shorn of most of his statutory and constitutional powers with veiled and unsubstantiated insinuations that he has not been following due process when he clearly has been doing a stickler for such due process. Such inferences are at best rich when one considers that we are talking about a Presidency in which the President is famed for delegating powers and trying not to engage as demonstrated by the much publicised stripping of his constitutional powers in favour of a Chief of Staff who has no constitutional or statutory governmental authority. The contradiction and irony are stark and makes a mockery of what is being done. The situation is aptly captured by the Yorubas when they say, “ejo l’owo ninu” (the snake has hands in its stomach)! There is certainly more to the recent events than meets the eye!

Let the dramatis personae deny there is nothing of such and claim this is only a figment of our fertile imagination, or even call it a false alarm, or whatever nomenclature catches their fancy. However, no matter the denials, what is unfolding, before our very eyes is more than a storm in a teacup. It is a stuff of a multi-billion-dollar box office thriller and the suspenseful drama and twists would make Alfred Hitchcock green with envy. Not even Samuel Beckett could have scripted this sort of absurdist drama.

We can now start from the beginning, if you like, call it genesis. A cerebral technocrat, thoroughbred professional, a teacher who is an accomplished Professor of Law for that matter, and a preacher of values and morals as a Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God to boot, Yemi Osinbajo, was selected by retired Major General Muhammadu Buhari as Vice Presidential candidate sometime in 2014. The selection was applauded by many onlookers as a counterbalance to a Presidential candidate who was accused, and being pummelled, for not possessing the minimum educational requirement for the job applied, and also as a reassurance to those who regarded the APC candidate as a Muslim fundamentalist. Beyond religion, Osinbajo also represented a much younger segment of our society who saw Buhari as being too old, too conservative, too out of tune with modern trends and much more. Osinbajo was thus a seemingly perfect choice, and those of us who were Buharists, once upon a time, rejoiced and dreamt of a new Nigeria, clothed in tranquillity and unity. How wrong we were. Little did we realise that this was not a one-part story but one of which we were only seeing the prequel, without the benefit that there would be a sequel and possibly even a serialisation! We foolishly thought that this was a story that could not have a Part 2.

Gbam... and they did it to control power. Now, what I found disgusting is the fact that when Ekweremadu was beaten, some persons were agitating that we do not respect elders... can you imagine? That singular act alone saw S.E leaders sit up and made necessary adjustment.

Imagine if every region adopt same method? Imagine the changes that it will bring within 30 days... but some people were more interested in respect than a better country, disregarding the fact that these vultures are invincible when in Nigeria.

Nigerians are not ready yet.
we don't need Nigerians to be ready. We need to Igbos to be ready. I learnt a lot from the 1966 coup which was a big g mistake. Fight for only your interest.

granted... but we down south can never end up like Niger, may be those in the North. The stats are there for all to see.
my guy, that has been the plan all along. If you read an article here on Nairaland you would understand that Lord luggard never liked the educated blacks. He felt we were beneath them. Naturally they knew that Awo and Zik were highly educated so before indepence they created a foundation of Nigeria that put the North in a fundamental position which they have exploited till this day. What made the South more prosperous that the North? The natural resources and the human resources. Before the regions were destroyed we saw the progress of the south and we saw the intellectuals they produced. You know the magic Awo did in SW. Now these resources are controlled by those who were not qualified to manage them.we are going down every day. We do not produce intellectuals like in the 60s and 70s. We are moving at their place and downgrading to the level of mediocrity. Education doesn't matter any more. We even have a president with an affidavit as certificate. How long will it take before our IQ level drops to the level of writing an exam just to score only 3 and pass? My guy we are moving towards that direction.
Politics › Re: Why Is South Mocking Osibanjo? by meccuno: 5:18pm On Sep 20, 2019
With the arguments that I have read,it goes to show that are better of divided. No matter how hard we try to love one another it would never work out. The British brought us together for the sole purpose of using our natural resources for the benefit of their people. The sooner we realize this the better for us. We can never make head way with the North who do not believe in progress and development. If care is not taken we might end up like Niger republic of Chad in the next 15 - 20 years.

Idokojimmy:
A lot has already been said and written about the xenophobic attack currently going on in South Africa. One that resonated with me is the view that this is specifically Afrophobia rather than outright xenophobia. In a post by popular South African comedian and TV host, Trevor Noah, he declared that other Africans in the rainbow country control less than two percent of its businesses and resources. The bulk of it, is squarely in the hands of white Europeans. Thus, if the locals are looking for someone to lynch, they should face the direction of the rightful enemy.
But by attacking Nigerians, Tanzanians and other blacks, the South Africans has displayed ignorance of their history.

History is like a map, it guides us going forward. Like a lighthouse, history provides a bearing of our present position relative to where we want to go. It also alerts us when we edge closer to the shore or dangerously lying reefs.
Perhaps, it is very prophetic in this regard that at the height of the attacks in Mandela's own country, the trending song across Africa is one by a Master KG, a South African artist. The song titled, "skeleton", talks about remembering the road that would lead you home, no matter where you go.
This brings me back home. In the last decades Nigeria has battled with the challenges of national identity. When it is politically convenient for us, we call ourselves Arewa, Biafrans and Oduduwa. We describe ourselves as everything else but Nigerians. While this had come to be seen as part of our national phenomenon, the emergence of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, definitely took it to a dangerous dimension with his Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) movement.

At the height of his charade in the name of secession, Kanu roared and puff at the authorities, threatening to rain down fire and brimstone on the country which he deliriously described as a zoo. His followers both home and abroad, joined this misguided misadventure. Some withdrew their allegiance to the country while others went as far as tearing their Nigerian passport.

Alas, xenophobia arose and everyone remembered the road that leads home. And for the Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba man and women in South Africa, there was only one home; Nigeria.
In the peak of the uproar that greeted the attack, I patiently awaited the voice of Kanu, to either deploy his much touted Biafran army to lead the rescue of Biafrans in South or comdenm the attacks. Till this moment, not a word has come from Mazi Nnamdi Kanu neither has he offered any way out for his stranded members. Neither KANU nor any of his spokesmen such as Emma POWERFUL could muster the courage to atleast condemn the atrocities committed on the Igbos .

But Nigeria, the same place they labeled a zoo, has risen up to the rescue for everyone.
And that's the lesson from this whole tragedy. Every country has it own challenges. Even America is not without people and group calling for independence and self governance. Yet, they recognize that they are first and above all, Americans.
We can claim to be whoever we want, but we must realize that when the chips are down, there's only one Nigeria to protect us. Whether Hausa, Igbo Yoruba or any other group. Las las, we're all Nigerians.

When it mattered most Mazi Nnamdi Kanu simply kept mute!!!!! Perhaps he is scared of being declared a Persona-non-grata by the government of South Africa. May be MAZI is still in bed with his wife, planning to share fresh nude pictures to appease hundreds of Igbos butchered by the South Africans.
