port Harcourt has stakes from ijaw, eleme and Igbo. But as it stands now, until the ikwerre people agree to be igbos( of which they are anyway) port Harcourt will remain larger an ikwerre owned city rather than Igbo. Though Igbo still has a stake even with the statusquo because the ndoki people of oyigbo are part of greater port Harcourt.

As for asaba, asaba is a pure Igbo city, you can hardly hear any other language there apart from Igbo
ikwerri is a dialect of igbo. Even the white men who came knew that. Whether they agree or not is left to them. There are some people from the igbo speaking part of delta who don't want to be called igbo when the stamp is on their head that shows they are. Mean while, I have friends also from ibuza who claim to be igbos and they are many. I wonder why these people who claim not to be igbos do not stop bearing our names, our culture and our behavioural attributes. If they spoke a different language and had a culture similar to the yorubas, no body would disturb them. Even the onistha man claims not to be igbo. But there are majority of them who are very much comfortable with the tag "igbo"

Do you not realise that ikwerre is an ethnic group and a tribe of its own or you want me to school you.

Now here's an example. The Isokos speak a language which is strikingly similar to Urhobo. In fact, Isoko is a clan of urhobo but you don't see urhobos claiming their lands and property. We have come to realise that they have an identity of their own now and respect that

Why can't igbos replicate this? Some months back, it was Nnamdi KANU saying that Warri is Biafra land. And I ask how?
oga, in ebonyi and enugu state, they have languages that are similar to igbo too. But they are igbos.the enugu man and ebonyi man have the same difference as the ikwerri man....I don't expect you to know this because you aren't igbo and you don't speak the language.....the problem with the ikwerri man is political...... Your argument doesn't hold water.......urhobo is urhobo and itsekiri is itsekiri, isoko is isoko ...they have different languages.....ikwerri is a dialect of the igbo language......they are igbos

Yoruba's are not land grabbers, they know their boundaries. Something the igbos don't know.
saying ikwerri is igbo doesn't mean land grabbing. After all, the ikwerris are still the owners of the land. And they have been the owners for donkey years....their governor is an ikwerri man. So I don't see how land grabbing comes into the picture. Try and learn and stop being obstinate.

You need to get over yourself dear... That is why Africa is light years behind civilisation. People are going to the moon and you're dragging boundaries and borders.

You have to respect the fact that the ikwerres are a distinct ethnic group which Nigeria recognizes. You cannot keep forcing them to be with you if they don't want to nor keep dragging their lands.

Live and let live.
what makes them a distinct ethnic group?

Ok,let us assume that ikwerris are not igbos. But what beats my imagination is when a yoruba man would come online and determine who is igbo or not. In lagos,an average yourba man cannot even differentiate between an igbo man and a calabar man,and others from the ss. They term all of them igbos. Being a yoruba and speaking the language doesn't make you an encyclopedia on igbo matters. The cities mentioned by the OP are igbo cities. The language spoken in those places are igbo. In PH and asaba, they speak pidgin because of other tribes like the ijaws and itsekiris and urhobos......but others are predominantly igbos. Instead my fellow yorubas should learn, they instead start telling us who is igbos or not which is embarrassing and insulting. Even in lagos, there are tribes who do not like to be called yorubas but doesn't make them leSs a yoruba person. People should learn to respect others. When the delta man starts a coup he is igbo. But when it relates to oil he is SS. Please give us a break and face your problems.

yorubas actually know that Igbo cities like Asaba, Igweocha are in the SS, they even call people from there 'omo ibo' and the land 'ile ibo'.
But it kills them you say it officially and dismantle their divide-and rule. If yorubas were god, Igboland will be in middle of hausaland, surrounded by bomb-weilding murderous hausa-fulanis. But yoruba no be god finally. God rather made it that they are ones with a fulani emir on their land. *dancing to fada fada*. grin

For a country to be great, the individuals of a country would be willing to defend the country and if possible die for it. A situation where a union is one that is done through coercion will not stand the test of time. A union which is done just for the sole aim of parasitic and a tilted trade of balance is one that is not left to desire. The North and the south west has been favoured tremendously in this improper federal structure in terms of infrastructure, political appointments, and positions in all federal civil services. I for one have always wanted Nigeria. But not one of injustice. We cannot say all is well with the things happening all around us. Like I used to tell my friends, the civil war would have been much more bloody,if it had been fought in the 80's. And if another is fought, Nigeria will never be the same again. The Niger Delta has been neglected for several years and I wonder the magic that would have been done by governors or the local government chairman if the utilise their allocation. We should ask what has the federal government done to protect its citizens there. A government who cedes its ancestral land to a foreign country just to please western powers is not only myopic and unintelligent. The only way we can make Nigeria great is to practise federalism because we are still in a unitary system of government. Failure to do so would only set the tones of what would happen in the nearest future. There would continue to be crises and as sanusi emir of kano said, there wwould arise a group of igbos who never experienced the war who would get tired of being second class citizens and wage a war and in the end get that peace which the germans achieved in the second world war. Make no mistake. The war fought in 66, was fought in the eastern region. But the next one would spread all over the country. We as Nigerians have a faulty foundation. Playing politics with it is only postponing the doomsday.

caught? Pray you don't fall into the hands of these security personnels. I was arrested me and a friend just because we looked suspicious. They were with AKs and it wasn't a joke. We were almost transferred to another unknown place if not for a phone call to a very senior police officer. They tore our statement and was asked to leave with apologies.I was naïve then. If they had paraded us as criminals with guns who would have believed us ? These people especially the police are pathological liars. There is no way that the NDA boys would just be caught so easily like that when they are well aware that there is a bounty on their head. Even if they would be caught, not like this. Most people here do not know the stress these militants caused in rivers. Strong soldiers had to be sent. I hardly believe Government news these days

Rxpetite:
Every state has a right to allow or deny herdsmen access to her territory.
Not all herdsmen are evil but one has to be careful. When boko haram started, northerners treated these issues with kid gloves until it started to torment them. They knew the members but protected them until they became uncontrollable. As far as I'm concerned, Northerners grew, groomed and nourished boko haram.
Here in the south we will not tolerate any act of terrorism especially from the north. We have our own issues to deal with.
They ask why we reacted differently to the kidnap of amina and ese ? The answer is simple;
Northern terrorists kidnap their northern schoolgirls in their northern territory and we Southerners can only show our concern(#bringbakourgirls ) and caution the north.
Northern assholes kidnap southern girls from southern territory and we will in orubebe's words , not take it.
States which can monitor the herdsmen can let them roam. If fayose cannot guarantee the security of his state from herdmen, he has every right to ban them from the on set to avoid stories that touch. people learn from their mistakes but smart people learn from other's mistakes.

When I deliberately asked a question relating to where they are from my close delta friend said if I am not igbo then who am I? I was shocked when an andoni man if am correct. Was carrying biafra on his head I was very surprised. Its like there are things that's happening below the surface that we do not know about. Those who dis own being tagged igbo are those who do not know their history and probably ignorant. But with current situation in Nigeria, people are becoming wiser now...I am an igbo man and a proud one.

Politics › Re: New Militant Group"Red Egbesu Water Lions" (REWL) Has Emerged In The Niger Delta by meccuno: 7:27pm On May 18, 2016
sosanova:
YENAGOA- A new militant group, Red Egbesu Water Lions, has surfaced in the Niger Delta region, just as suspected militants, Tuesday night, blew up the Sagbama-Tuomo gas line, belonging to Nigerian Agip Oil Company, NAOC, at Egbembiri, Southern Ijaw local government area of Bayelsa State . A security source, who confirmed the explosion, said: “Egbembiri is a border town between Bayelsa and Delta states. They destroyed the Ayama section of the Ogboinbiri-Tuomo gas pipeline with dynamites at about 9.00 pm on Tuesday. That line was earlier repaired, last week and again vandalized.” “We, however, suspect that dispute over the surveillance contract led to the attack. The Agip pipeline links major oil facilities in Delta and Bayelsa States,” he added. The new militant group in a statement by its Creek Network Coordinator, “General” Torunanawei Latei, said it was teaming up with the Niger Delta Avengers and Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. “It issued the Federal Government a seven-day ultimatum to release Nnamdi Kanu, former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki and direct EFCC to defreeze the bank accounts of ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupol, alias Tompolo, Threatening to shut down all oil exploration activities in the Niger Delta at the expiration of the ultimatum, the group also demanded “unconditional immediate payment to victims of the Bonga Oil Spill and Chevron gas explosion in Koluama, Bayelsa state.” “It is extremely important to note that the engine room of the national interest is the executive obedience to court orders, protection and preservation of citizens’ constitutional liberties. Justification of executive disobedience to court orders as a protection of national interest is abominable. “This is a deliberate ploy to bend the law and suspend the 1999 Constitution. We ask, does President Muhammadu Buhari have any legal capacity to declare anyone as a criminal? Disobedience to court orders is an act of executive rascality in the country,” the group added.

For those screaming against the army. If you were given all the dynamite to go and destroy the pipeline handling gas, how will you find it?

These people have insiders that know all the working of all pipelines, what leads where and what you need to blow it up. I am sure even the Nigerian navy does not have the pipe diagrams.

So the fact that these people had id cards does not automatically exonorate them.

They were caught at the scene of the crime. Not picked up in their backyards at home. If after investigation it was discovered that they were on official duty at the time they were pick up. I am certain they would be released.

The fact that Chevron is silent on the issue speaks volumes.
since when has the army, police, navy,Dss conducted any reasonable investigation? Pray you don't fall into their net cause your own would be sorry!!
