Montaque: the post said "an ibo man's point of view". You don't need to be just an ibo man to see them. I thought he wanted to reel out the failings of the Govt in the SE. I guess he was just being patriotic, that was why in that letter he pointed out that most of those events didn't affect him but it might be him tomorrow |

Montaque: How are these points peculiar to the Ibo man? It's not about how the points were peculiar to the Ibo man, but it's about how it affects Nigeria as whole |

Here is what CHINEDU NEBO, a facebook pal has to say medamillion: WHY I DID NOT SUPPORT PRESIDENT JONATHAN:
Many people have asked me this question, that why do I NOT support President Jonathan despite the fact that most Igbos (if not all) support him. Here are my reasons:
1)INSECURITY: President Jonathan's administration has recorded almost the highest number death in his administration due BokoHaram insurgency. When BokoHaram initially started, the president handled them with kid's glove. He said, and I quote "BokoHaram is our siblings, how can you send the army to wipe off your family?". Six weeks to election, he came out to say "I underestimated BokoHaram". This underestimation has cost him the lives of thousands of Northerners, even Southerners residing in the North. Although, I was not affected by the event, but Mr President has failed in his duty to protect the lifes and properties of the citizens. IT COULD BE YOU TOMORROW.
2). CORRUPTION Countless number of corruption has taken place under his watch:
The Minister of Aviation bought bullet proof cars worth N255M, the case was initially investigated but today we here nothing about it again.
The Minister of Petroleum, Allison Madueke hire Jets for a whopping N10B amidst poverty-strikened Nigerians. The case was initially investigated but today we here nothing about it again. And many others too numerous to mention.
I am not affected by this event for now, but another 4years of Jonathan may see Nigeria go "bankrupt" which will definitely affect all Nigerians irrespective of tribe or religion.
3) THE IMMIGRATION JOB SCAM: I feel shocked whenever I see the pictures of the youths who died (in stampede) at a stadium due to poor organization of the event. The government collected N1,000 each from over 20,000 youths and the Minister that oversaw this terrible event has been left to enjoy more under Jonathan. NO disciplinary measures taken against him.
It could be my brother or your brother who becomes a victim of this event, will you still support GEJ to run the affairs of this nation for another 4years?
I became more shocked to hear that, an event that happened about a year ago, the President, in just 6weeks to election has called the parents of the deceased for compensation.
4) THE OIL SUBSIDY SCAM: When Jonathan administration removed oil subsidy on January 1, 2011...We all know how we suffered, we know how he spoiled that New Year for us. Many shops closed down, food prices escalated, no transport.
The same oil subsidy removal, the revenue recovered as been embezzled by some "TOP Class" citizen. (FAROUK LAWAN and FEMI OTEDOLA Saga) comes to mind
4) THE CHIBOK GIRLS KIDNAP: When over 200 girls were kidnapped, instead of my president to act on this issue, he termed it "propaganda", until about 10days later, he started acting. This is over 300days, where are the girls? It could be your sister or my sister who has been in the jungle of BokoHaram, would you still support GEJ?
We may feel less-concerned as all this is happening In the North NOT in the South, but an adage says "a burning fire knows no boundary". I can't entrust the lifes of my family in the hands of this present government for another as years. IT WILL BE A SUICIDE.
FINALLY: I reside in Igbo Etiti LGA, in Enugu...In 2011 nobody in my community could support GEJ more than I do to the extent that I almost got lynched by some supporters of the defunct ACN when I was traveling to Lagos because I wore Jonathan's campaign T-Shirt.
Having witnessed many irregularities in President Jonathan's administration, I am left with no choice but to vote the APC and see what they have to offer.
As at now, having tendered my reasons to friends and relatives who once hated me for not supporting GEJ, they've come to reason with me and they are also clamouring for CHANGE.
BUHARI may not be a saint, but we just have to give him a chance #givebuhariachance Meet CHINEDU NEBO on facebook: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1400953276887908&id=100009197478892&refid=17&_ft_&__tn__=%2As

Saw this mind-opening letter on Facebook and decide to share. medamillion: 2015 Elections: LETTER TO MY IGBO BROTHERS
With just 1 day to the long anticipated general election, and seeing the way things are going, I am compelled to write this letter to all progress loving Nigerians particularly Ndi Igbo Nwafor. I have observed we Igbos are mostly voting on religion and tribal lines. This we must stop if we want a better Nigeria. Let's look beyond religion and tribes and see which party is likely to be of more benefit to the masses.
WHY VOTING JONATHAN/PDP MAY LIKELY NOT FAVOUR US:
1) Jonathan will have nothing to lose: Once elected, whatever the cry of the masses maybe, he knows that either he act on it or not, he is leaving by 2019. So he has no challenges. An example is the issue of Stella Odua who bought N255M bullet proof cars amidst poverty-strikened Nigerians; she was initially investigated but now the case has been swept under the carpet.
2) He must recover his dollars: Report has it that, President Jonathan, in his urge to retain power, has embarked on the policy of dollarization. All this money: some given to our pastors, obas, OPC etc shall be recovered at the detriment of OUR (taxpayer's) money.
3) PDP will take us for granted: The impression that the incumbent cannot be defeated and they will rule us for 60 years according to one of them will remain in their heart. A victory for the PDP is a slap on democracy.
WHY VOTING BUHARI/APC MAY FAVOUR THE MASSES:
I have only one reason: This party is NOT the party of the saints but the way things are now, they have tendency to give us a better form of governance different from what we have witnessed in the past 16years under the PDP.
1) They have a lot to lose: The APC will be under pressure to deliver. They know that if they do not perform after 4years, the stronger party (PDP) will takeover again. This party will like to take up atleast one thing that they can be remembered for. For example this party may take the bull. by the horn in the power sector only, and solve this problem for us.
I am neither supporting the APC nor the PDP in this case, we should just take things with the "common sense" factor. Ndi Igbo, I know the past of Buhari is still in our minds, but an adage says "He who does not leave beyond the past may lose the goodness of the future".
According to him, he said, and I quote:"I am a former military dictator, but now a democratic convert". Ironically, he sought our forgiveness. Many of us say Buhari can never change, you as an individual cannot tell me that the way you behave 10years ago is still the way you behave now. Some things must have changed. Buhari of 30years ago may not be the Buhari of today. Please let's give him a chance.
Some will say we need youths to rule us not an old man, remember people like James Ibori, Alameseigha etc were convicted for money laundry in their 40s. Good leadership is not by age but integrity.
This is a call to Ndi Igbo, look beyond your personal hatred for Buhari and put Nigeria first. I am an indegene of Enugu State, born in Igbo Etiti, I was a vibrant youth leader of President Jonathan campaign in 2011 but he has failed us. I am more exposed and wiser now that I cannot be blinded by religion and ethnicity in the choice of candidate. The same should apply to you.
Let's vote the APC and see what they have to offer, if they fail us after four years we shall get rid of them with the power of our vote. Yours. Chinedu Nebo.
Don't just read, please print and share it to our Igbo brothers. |

SIRKOL: Sir i respects u a lot and with all due respect, consider my own opinion. I see from this letter dat ur comand of logic is not too strong. If u think dat APC will take d bull by d horn by trying to please d ppl in it first tenure so dat d PDP whom u refer to as the bigger power will not power from them then u are mistaken. The bigger power is d power on the sit of power. APC have men who are too desperate and will do anything for power, little wonder why a father of 72 wants to rule his over 170million children with different minds, behavior, thinking etc. when his first son is matured enough to handle dat. If he had good intentions for this country he would hv rada dan seek power, acted like a father n supply his son help and some of his ideas, if he has good intentions for Ndi igbo he would not hv only be remembering to come and see us only during campaign. I know u hv not openly supported Apc but our reasoning is not blind!!!! Ndi Igbo knows what we want and we will vote who we want 4 me its gej till 2019 #Oga jona carry on# All igbos are behind you Buhari let's wait till 2019 then Ndi igbo will consider u From the writer's letter, the issue of age has been addressed. It's hightime you summon wisdom and vote wisely for the interest of yourself, myself, and posterity. Read again, there is element of truth in that letter. Think twice. You don't vote out of emotion. |
