Health › Re: How Can I Register My Aged Parent For Nhis by medex(m): 8:39pm On Nov 09, 2019
@badoh
badoh:
Good day Nairalanders. I sincerely need your expertise opinion and suggestion on this.
I work for a private organisation where myself and my dependants(wife and children) are under HMO coverage but the coverage do not have provision for parent. I wish to put my parent under an health plan like NHIS that will be tied to my own monthly salary just like it is obtainable in HMO. I want a situation where they will no longer depend on me sending money to them anytime they want to go for check up since NHIS would take care of this.
Please how do I go about this or is there any other way private HMO can bring my parent into their health coverage?

Thank you.
Bros, Hygeia HMO has a plan for older people See www hygeiahmo.com/senior

Family › The Ballads Of Heartbreak by medex(op): 9:45am On Oct 16, 2011
New blogpost about heartbreak. Truly heartwrenching

Her cry rang true
As true as the anguish that tore at her heart
Pain as raw as day
Pain without comprehension.

She could be heard a mile off
In neighbouring villages and in farmlands around
All who heard it knew
Death had struck again.

Terror filled the heart that felt
Dread, the ear that heard
For the clutches of death, cold and sure
Had snatched yet another, http://medexdeyanz./2011/10/16/the-ballads-of-heartbreak/
Nairaland General › Top Ten Myths About Introverts by medex(op): 12:25pm On Oct 10, 2011
I suspect that a lot of you will be getting some clarity today from my blog. Jerry Brito’s post tries to capture what a lot of people struggle to understand about people like my alter-ego who just cant be bothered about certain niceties. I am sure that you will find it…illuminating. Please share your reactions in the comment section. It’s yours.

Myth #1 – Introverts don’t like to talk.
This is not true. Introverts just don’t talk unless they have something to say. They hate small talk. Get an introvert talking about something they are interested in, and they won’t shut up for days. More on http://medexdeyanz./2011/10/10/top-ten-myths-about-introverts/

I wonder what the world thought of the first person who got into water and swam. Ever.

I wonder how conventions came to be and what it would take to make them all come crashing down. Read More on Esho-Ikoyi, http://medexdeyanz./2011/09/30/i-wonder/
Nairaland General › Is Simplicity Smart? by medex(op): 12:50pm On Sep 17, 2011
When faced with a problem, a challenge, a daunting math question, whatever! I am sure that you, like me, often get the feeling that it cannot possibly be resolved too easily. The solution or the answer must be quite complex, even intricately so. Right?

Well, maybe not so much. My thoughts are that the smartest solutions are very simple. I did a small blogpost on the subject here http://medexdeyanz./2011/09/17/simple-n-smart/ Please read and tell me what you think. Do you agree with my premise?
Nairaland General › Re: Ebooks Vs Real Books by medex(op): 11:44am On Sep 17, 2011
globaljobs:
Selling ebooks is a low cost way to earn money.

With ebooks, your inventory cost is zero and your profit is = 100 percent of the selling price.

If you spend so much time writing an ebook and the ebook doesn't sell, you lose the time invested writing the ebook. But you don't run into debt because you borrowed money to self publish your ebook.

This is the way to go . . . selling ebooks, that is.
Hey @larablog. That's another angle and very interesting too. I was talking mainly about which you would prefer to read but for self-publishing, ebooks sure seem the easier way out.
Phones › A Phone Call Can Kill You. Really. by medex(op): 9:09pm On Sep 16, 2011
There was a buzz on Wednesday about calls from a certain “killer” phone number with people sending texts, SMSes and BBMs urging caution just in case you were lucky (or unlucky)  to be called by that number. In the end, it ended up being decried, again, as a hoax. The rumoured number- 09141- was in fact the date! People had panicked so much over this, to me quite ridiculous, hoax. It even got coverage on TV and at least one national newspaper headlined it.

The history of these kinds of hoaxes is pretty long, it is in effect an urban legend. The first I heard of this hoax was in 2004 and the text read:

“Beware! You’ll die if you take a call from any of these phone numbers: 0802 311 1999 or 0802 222 5999”

The question though is whether a one could actually die from a phone or a phone call. My answer is Yes, http://medexdeyanz./2011/09/16/a-phone-call-can-kill-you-really/

Nairaland General › Ebooks Vs Real Books by medex(op): 1:56pm On Sep 16, 2011
Perhaps a foundational question to ask is why do you read? If you read simply for the purposes of getting instruction or for pleasure then you will not be much bothered by whether your reading is done on an electrical device or on paper. Most of us have several other reasons for indulging in (or for subjecting ourselves) to reading thoughr.

If you are reading this I can assume that you know what a book is, so I will not dwell on that  What is an e-book though? It is simply an electronic device that lets you read ‘soft’ copies of printed material or just electronic text. A lot can be said about real paper books. Almost all of the people I spoke with favoured real books because they ‘liked to feel the pages’ or ‘the smell of a new (or old) book is priceless’ etc. An e-book cannot provide any of these sensory pleasures. The fact that e-books can’t provide a visual appeal means that you can’t physically touch the cover, the paper or get its smell of antiquity. In my opinion that’s the biggest disadvantage of an e-book. Read More on, http://medexdeyanz./2011/09/15/ebooks-vs-real-books/
