The Supreme Court on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 upheld the re-election of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as Governor of Delta State.

Igbere TV reports that the apex court dismissed the appeal of Great Ogboru and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The APC candidate had previously lost out at both the Election Tribunal and Appeal Court, before the Supreme Court.

In his reaction, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa dedicated the victory to God Almighty and the good people of Delta State.

“We give thanks to Almighty God!

“Our work to build a #StrongerDelta for all our citizens continues”, he tweeted.

Politics / Governor Ikpeazu Wins At The Supreme Court by MediaGuru36: 2:45pm On Jan 08, 2020
The Supreme Court on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 upheld the election of Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu as Governor of Abia State.

A seven-man panel of justices led by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour gave the judgement, Igbere TV reports.

It would be recalled that Dr Alex Otti of APGA had approached the apex court seeking to be declared Governor of Abia State.

The APGA candidate had previously lost both at the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal and the Appeal Court.

Counsel to the PDP, Dr. Livy Uzoukwu, SAN, on Wednesday urged the apex court to dismiss the Appeal for want of merit.

Counsel to Governor Ikpeazu, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, supported Dr. Uzoukwu’s call.

“My Lords, this appeal shouldn’t have been before you in the first place. It’s a gross abuse of the processes of this court. My Lords should not hesitate in dismissing this appeal”, he said.

“My Lords, what is before you is a strange appeal and I urge the Court to do the needful and dismiss it”, Olanipekun added.

The Court after listening to the parties announced its judgement.

In the Appeal number marked SC.1465/2019, the Court held that the Appeal by Dr Alex Otti was a waste of time and abuse of court processes.

The apex court subsequently dismissed the appeal for lacking in merit.

Politics / A’Ibom Rerun: Coalition of Candidates Calls for REC, Igini’s Replacement (Pics) by MediaGuru36: 1:49pm On Jan 08, 2020
Ahead of the Jan. 25 rerun election for Essien Udim Local Government of Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial district, a coalition of candidates have called for the replacement of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr Mike Igini.

A statement by the coalition after a press briefing in Uyo, Monday and signed by its chairman, Comrade Imoh Ekpo said they doubt the sincerity of the INEC commissioner to conduct credible election in the state.

Ekpo stressed that the “facts” that played out before, during and after the 2019 elections in the state were so glaring and indicate that they were not calling for Igini’s redeployment out of sentiment.

He maintained that the call for Igini’s removal from the state was not just about the re-run, adding that “we have future elections too. It is an issue that bothers us as a coalition, so we are preparing ahead of time.”

The coalition of senatorial candidates accused Igini of working for the interest of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state in 2019, and therefore would not be able to conduct free, fair and credible elections.

“The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Akwa Ibom state, Mike Igini, should be redeployed,” said Ekpo, insisting that “the removal of Igini will pave way for a free and fair poll.”

According to the coalition, REC Igini’s romance with PDP candidates during the 2019 general elections was also part of the reasons for the demand.

The coalition said it had established that “in total violation of his oath of office and code of conduct for senior electoral officials, Igini worked hand-in-glove with the ruling party (PDP), to rig, manipulate and influence the elections in favour of its candidates.”

The chairman maintained that the coalition candidates would not have a level playing field with Mr Igini superintending the conduct of the elections in the state.

According to him, the group has copious evidence to show that REC Igini romanced with the PDP, accusing him of handing over uncollected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to the officials of the state government.

“Igini is biased and he is working for PDP. He handed all the uncollected PVCs to the party to rig the 2019 election. It is either they change him or there will be no rerun election in the affected local government”, he reiterated.

Spokesman for the INEC, Mr Festus Okoye, could not be reached for comment. But a source close to his office, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed that there were pressure on the commission to transfer the Akwa Ibom REC, Igini.

Foreign Affairs / WW3: Trump, Peloni React As Iran Attack US Troops In Iraq by MediaGuru36: 5:36am On Jan 08, 2020
President of the United States, Donald Trump has reacted to the attack on a military base housing some US troops in Iraq, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had reported that the Iran military Tuesday night fired dozens of missiles at the troops in Iraq, with alleged few causalities.

Reacting, President Trump said the level of casualties were being assessed, describing the US military as being the best in the world today.

“All is well! Missiles launched from Iran at two military bases located in Iraq. Assessment of casualties & damages taking place now. So far, so good!

“We have the most powerful and well equipped military anywhere in the world, by far! I will be making a statement tomorrow morning”, Mr Trump tweeted.

On her part, speaker of the US House of Representatives, Ms Nancy Pelosi said she was closely monitoring the situation, while calling for prayers.

“We’ve got to pray,” she said, adding, “I’m closely monitoring the situation.”

“We must ensure the safety of our service members, including ending needless provocations from the administration and demanding that Iran cease its violence.

“America and world cannot afford war”, speaker Pelosi tweeted minutes after the attack Wednesday morning (local time).

Politics / A’ibom Rerun: Coalition Of Senatorial Candidates To Meet With Akpabio by MediaGuru36: 7:42pm On Jan 06, 2020
A coalition of candidates for the January 25, 2020 rerun election in Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial district will be formally meeting Senator Godswill Akpabio, the minister of Niger Delta Affairs, ahead of the election.

Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom, was until now the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial election. He, however, opted out of the rerun which was ordered by the Appeal Court sitting in Calabar.

The coalition of senatorial candidates is seeking the blessings of the minister who is from Essien Udim, the affected local government area where the rerun election is expected to take place. Udim is considered as one of the stronghold of the former governor.

Before now, Akpabio had garnered 83,158 votes, while the opposition PDP candidate, Chris Ekpenyong polled 118,215 votes. Akpabio’s council area boasts of 126,000 voting strength, which the court had argued was more than enough to declare an actual winner.

The coalition is seeking to wrestle power from the incumbent PDP senator Ekpenyong. Igbere TV reliably gathered that the group is being sponsored by top businessmen in the country and aggrieved members of the PDP in Akwa Ibom.

Chairman of the coalition, Comrade Imoh Ekpo informed Igbere TV that the group is seeking the blessings of Senator Akpabio to brighten the chances of the candidates in the race. The meeting which was earlier fixed for January 4, he said, will now hold weekend.

A senior aide of the honourable minister, who spoke confidently while also pleading anonymity, confirmed the development to our correspondent.

“He (Akpabio) may be out of the race physically but he is still 100 per cent in the race 'spiritually', his pride is at stake. He cannot fold his hands and watch Ekpenyong and PDP ridicule him in his backyard”, said the aide.

The rerun election is to be conducted strictly in Essien Udim, Akpabio’s local government area, which is totally out of reach for the PDP candidate, Ekpenyong who hails from Obot Akara local government.

Checks by Igbere TV on Monday shows that the Senator won't be voting on the election day, neither would there be an opportunity for him to influence the outcome directly, coming from an entirely different local government.

Investigations by this online medium equally shows that majority of other political party candidates for the rerun election, who are also members of the coalition, are from Akpabio’s Essien Udim local government.

According to the coalition chairman, “I'm fully convinced that the people of Essien Udim will never leave their own sons from the council and be voting candidate from another local government. This election is going to be conducted in just their local government, so I am certain they will take the lead.

“The chances of Chris Ekpenyong returning as senator is very slim. Don't forget that the (126,000) voting strength in Essien Udim is big enough to declare anybody winner in any given election”, he added.

Meanwhile, Igbere TV gathered that the people of Essien Udim have met with other political parties and mobilizing heavily to deliver bloc vote for a particular candidate from Abak3. Abak3 is said to have been ‘marginalized’ for a long time and stakeholders in the area see this as opportunity to correct the ‘injustice.’

Already, a high-level committee has been set up comprising of prominent grassroot politicians as mobilization chairmen with the sole mandate to mobilize and deliver at least 500 voters/votes per unit for the elections.

The coalition is also banking to take advantage of the alleged rift between Senator Ekpenyong and his party, PDP hierarchy. The Senator is said to have failed to return home to familiarize with his constituents ahead Jan. 25 poll, and with no viable project to boast with in the constituency.

Our source said the ruling PDP in Akwa Ibom had some time requested for funds from Ekpenyong to prosecute the forthcoming election but the senator rebuffed the party leadership.

His performance in the February 2019 election is said to be largely on the goodwill and effort of Governor Udom Emmanuel, but with the Governor’s second term mandate sealed by the Supreme court, and Akpabio out of the race, insiders say Udom does not want Ekpeyong back.

Contacted, a source close to the senator, who pleaded anonymity, said Ekpenyong had been calling on his supporters to give him sympathy votes owing to the demise of his wife. The source, however, said most of the supporters are opposed to the call.

Politics / Akwa Ibom Rerun: Why Ekpeyong May Not Return Despite Akpabio's Withdrawal by MediaGuru36: 10:21am On Jan 06, 2020
Fresh facts have emerged that despite the withdrawal of Senator Godswill Akpabio from the Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial rerun, the re-election of Chris Ekpenyong is not yet a done deal after all.

Ekpenyong, a former deputy governor of Akwa Ibom, is Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the election. The rerun which has been fixed for January 25, will hold in Essien Udim local government.

Apart from being Akpabio’s council area and stronghold, the voting strength for the locality alone is put at 126,000 which is higher than the 118,215 votes polled by Ekpenyong in the poll.

With the withdrawal of Akpabio from the race, many would have thought that winning would be an easy task for senator Ekpenyong. But checks by Igbere TV shows that reverse is the case.

Already, a coalition of major opposition political parties and power brokers in the state, with top businessmen as sponsors, have emerged to wrestle power from the PDP senator.

To achieve more, the coalition is seeking the blessings of Senator Akpabio, who is now a minister, to cripple the PDP and its candidate’s chances in the election.

A senior aide of the honourable minister, who spoke to our correspondent over the telephone, confirmed the development.

“Due to circumstances, His Excellency (Akpabio) may be out of the race physically but he is still 100 per cent in the race 'spiritually', his pride is at stake. He can not fold his hands and watch Ekpenyong and PDP ridicule him in his backyard”, said the aide.

The rerun election is to be conducted strictly in Essien Udim, Akpabio’s council area which is totally out of the jurisdiction for the PDP candidate, who is from Obot Akara local government.

Checks by Igbere TV on Sunday shows that the Senator won't be voting on the election day, neither would there be opportunity for him to influence the outcome, coming from an entirely different local government.

Investigations by this online medium equally shows that majority of other political party candidates for the Akwa Ibom North-West poll, are from Akpabio’s Essien Udim.

Comrade Imoh Ekpo, chairman Coalition of Senatorial District Candidates, Ikot-Ekpene senatorial district (Mega Party of Nigeria), confirmed the development.

He said, “I'm fully convinced that Essien Udim people will never leave their own sons from the council and be voting candidate from another local government... This election is going to be conducted in just their LGA so I am certain they will take the lead.

“The chances of Chris Ekpenyong returning as senator is very slim. Don't forget that the (126,000) voting strength in Essien Udim is big enough to declare anybody winner in any given election.”

Igbere TV reliably gathered that people of the locality have met with other political parties and mobilizing heavily to deliver a block vote for a particular candidate from Abak3. Abak3 is said to have been marginalized for a long time and stakeholders in the area see this as opportunity to correct the injustice.

Already, a high-level committee has been set up comprising of prominent grassroot politicians as mobilization chairmen with the mandate to mobilize at least 500 voters per unit for the elections.

Essien Udim local government area has about 189 units, with 11 wards. At least 126,000 votes are expected from the local government January 25.

Meanwhile, there is a brewing rift between Senator Ekpenyong and his party, PDP hierarchy. The Senator is said to have failed to return home to familiarize with his constituents ahead Jan. 25, and with no viable project to boast with in the constituency.

Our source said the ruling PDP in Akwa Ibom had some time requested for funds to prosecute the election but the senator rebuffed the party leadership.

His performance in the February 2019 election is said to be largely on the goodwill and effort of Governor Udom Emmanuel, but with the Governor’s second term mandate securely in the kitty following the Supreme court verdict, and Akpabio out of the race, insiders say Udom does not want Ekpeyong back.

Contacted, a source close to the senator’s office, who pleaded anonymity said Ekpenyong has been calling on his supporters to give him sympathy vote owing to the demise of his wife.

“His Excellency, Senator Chris Ekpenyong representing Akwa Ibom North-West has been very relaxed and reluctant about the (forthcoming) polls.

“He has been begging for sympathy votes from his supporters, claiming he has been conducting the burial of his wife which he said cost him a whole lot of money.

“...But how can that be? Even his party (PDP) summoned and asked him for money, but he said he had no money to part with. He is maybe waiting to ride on the governor’s goodwill again. But Mr. Governor is not on the ballot. So, how does he (Ekpenyong) hope to win?”, the source said.

Politics / WWIII: Great Britain Backs Trump, U.S. Over Attack Against Iran by MediaGuru36: 6:34pm On Jan 05, 2020
Britain has come out in support of US President Donald Trump, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Defence Minister exclaiming the US is “entitled to defend itself” following air strikes that killed Iranian military General Qassem Soleimani.

In the absence of Mr Johnson, who is on a Caribbean holiday with his girlfriend Carrie Symonds, Defence minister Ben Wallace said Washington has a right to respond to earlier attacks from Iran that resulted in an assault on the US embassy in Baghdad.

Mr Wallace urged all parties to show restraint following the strikes at a Baghdad airport that killed the General, but said its closest ally was entitled to defend itself against an imminent threat.

Mr Wallace said in a statement sighted by Igbere TV that he had spoken to his US counterpart Mark Esper on Saturday afternoon.

“We urge all parties to engage to de-escalate the situation”, he said.

“Under international law the United States is entitled to defend itself against those posing an imminent threat to their citizens.”

Mr Wallace has also confirmed Royal Navy ships will again be used to escort British-flagged vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.

Politics / Worn Out Cliches Not Sellable In Edo2020 - Gloria Adagbon by MediaGuru36: 6:25pm On Jan 04, 2020
In the politics of 2020 the following worn out cliches and gimmicks WILL NOT SELL. The have long been bursted for what they really are:

(1) Edo is not Lagos. Of course, Edo can’t be Lagos. The economy of Lagos is huge and it is the economic nerve centre of Nigeria. Infrastructure wise and development, Lagos is ahead. States like Edo should aspire to build, develop and advance like Lagos. Politically, even the Executive organ of government in Edo are always in Lagos for one thing or the other. And it is insulting to the people of Lagos that one man makes the decision of who should lead them whereas what transpired in the politics that saw the ouster of Akinwunmi Ambode was the rejection of Ambode by the party and Tinubu, being astute political strategist saw the handwriting on the wall and had no choice than to support the people.

(2) Not sharing Edo money for greedy politicians. This is another terrible cliche that has worn out completely and of no value to the political discourse any longer. What is sharing money? How do you equate political patronage of either providing opportunities for people within your party to utilise their skills, talents, expertise and experience in governance and wealth creation to sharing money? How do completely refusing to empower qualified people within your party into government boards, agencies or departments equate to sharing money? When challenged about this over used cliche, on who and who asked you to share money, has he been able to name a single person? This not sharing money is simply a smokescreen to cover unnecessary cockiness and insensitivity.

(3) That one man, namely Comrade Adams Oshiomole is trying to play a Godfather or that he is one that doesn’t want Mr Governor to be re-elected. This is the worst of it all, an attempt to create an impression that Oshiomole is responsible for his woes. The attempt here is the blatant refusal acknowledge all that has transpired since Mr Governor was elected in 2016.

- after the elections, most people that supported one or the other, including party leaders were told by Mr Governor that he is not interested in politics and very much like to concentrate on governance. That was the turning point. The politicians went their way as well party and supporters.

 - suddenly, Mr Governor realises that his mandate is coming to an end and would need the same people and the party for his re-election and came knocking on doors of the party and people he hasn’t dealt with since being elected in 2016 and wants them to support or work for his second term ambition.

 - do you think these people or the party leadership would just start running and jumping just because he is the governor? Or they would go to Oshiomole to decide for them? Are they not adults who can take decisions on their own?

 - that Oshiomole supported you in 2016 amidst some resistance and opposition from the Edo APC party leadership, doesn’t mean he should support you again for a second term. And that he is not supporting you don’t make him a Godfather either.

 - that Oshiomole in his wisdom and leadership as the National Chairman decides to be guide by the party, doesn’t make him a Godfather, the picture and narrative that have been sold to the media.

These are worn out and have become so boring a narrative to peddle. The best thing for Mr Governor and his handlers is to sell their achievements and why he should be re-elected. Making a single individual a campaign point smacks of failure and an escape route to hide the truth of the matter. It is Edo APC that are opposed to Mr Governor’s attempt to force himself as a consensus candidate as opposed to the false narrative that Comrade Oshiomole Adams is against Mr Governor’s second term bid.

We will continue to set the record straight as we draw closer to the Edo2020
God bless us, all

Politics / Exclusive: ABN TV Petitions Police Over Threat To Life By Ikpeazu’s Aide by MediaGuru36: 5:02pm On Dec 21, 2019
Popular online medium, ABN TV has petitioned the Abia state commissioner of police over alleged threat to life by ACB Agbazuere, Chief of Staff to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

Igbere TV had reported that Agbazuere, on Friday, allegedly ordered government house security officers to manhandle two journalists attached to ABN TV.

The journalists were covering a protest by the College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), who were demanding 25 months unpaid salaries from the state government.

In a three-page petition exclusively obtained by Igbere TV on Saturday, ABN TV boss, Victor Okali said the lives of the two journalists were threatened on the order of the chief of staff.

The ABN TV boss further alleged that the security officers equally threatened to deal with him, while forcefully snatching the cameras from his staff, erasing the protest video.

Efforts to obtain comment from the accused, Agbazuere, were unsuccessful. Text message sent to his line was yet to be responded to as at press time.

Meanwhile, the petition by ABN TV entitled, “Threat to my life and my staff members by Abia government official”, signed by Victor Okali is reproduced below by Igbere TV;

“I write to bring to your attention an open threat to my life and that of members of my staff by ACB Agbazuere, the Chief of Staff to Abia state Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu at a wing of the Government House Umuahia on Thursday, December 19, 2019.

“It all started when I got a phone call from a member of Academic Staff Union of College of Education, Abia state college of Education, Arochukwu demanding a media coverage of their protest in which they are asking for the payment of backlog of 25 months’ salary arrears owed them by the state government.

“I immediately assigned two of my staff, a reporter by the name Kingsley Alozie and a cameraman Uwagwu Nobert Okechukwu.

“After the protest coverage at the Abia State House of Assembly, the protesters also moved to the Abia state government house to further make their demands known to the state Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu. My staff were also there to get the response of the state government.

“After the address by ACB Agbazuere, the Chief of Staff to the governor, he called the team of reporters on ground (ABN TV reporter and Horn Newspaper correspondent) and ordered some men at the Government House to take care of them.

“Surprisingly, the care the state government could offer to journalists on their legitimate duty was to take them to a certain dark room and threaten them to kill their story.

““The men took us to a wing of the government house, in a dark office and intimidated us to present our camera for verification. When we refused, they forcefully scrutinize our recorders and asked for our names and asked if we want to die young. Who is your boss? If you publish this report, we will get you down and go after your boss. We were bullied and intimidated in that room for 15 minutes. They are about 5 persons in the room where they intimidated us for practicing our profession”, the staff said.

“I therefore appeal to you to use your good office to look into this matter and bring to book anybody found wanting in this effort to muzzle the press.

“We shall be available when called upon to give testimony as far as this matter is concerned. Looking forward for your swift intervention.”

Politics / Ikpeazu’s Senior Aide Orders Torture Of ABN TV Staff At Govt House by MediaGuru36: 11:08pm On Dec 20, 2019
ACB Agbazuere, the Chief of Staff to Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state on Thursday reportedly ordered security men attached to Government House, Umuahia to torture a cameraman and a reporter working with ABN TV.

The journalists were covering protesting members of the College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), who were demanding their 25 months unpaid salaries from the state government.

The protesting COEASU members were said to have waited in vain at the Abia state government house for several hours with no official to formally address them.

“Trouble started upon the arrival of Agbazuere, who came to address the protesters but not without ordering all journalists present to put off their cameras”, according to an eyewitness.

After his address, the Chief of Staff allegedly ordered fierce-looking security men attached to government house to take the ABN TV staff and other journalists to a certain place to “take care of them.”

“Surprising, however, we were taken to a dark room where we were thoroughly tortured and intimidated and all items in our cameras deleted”, one of the journalists told newsmen.

It was gathered that the security men went further to ask the journalists if they all wanted to “die young”, threatening to deal with them mercilessly alongside their boss.

All efforts to reach the accused, Agbazuere, to hear his own side of the story proved abortive as all calls placed to his known phone line went unanswered.

Similarly, ABN TV Director, Ifeanyi Okali could not be immediately reached for comment. But a close source said Okali is likely to involve the police to investigate alleged threats to his life and that of his staff.

Contacted, however, the State Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu said the information available to him indicates that the allegation is not true.

Politics / President Buhari To Reconstitute NDDC Board by MediaGuru36: 9:55am On Dec 19, 2019
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reconstitution of the controversial Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Igbere TV reports.

This was contained in a series of tweet sighted by Igbere TV on the President’s verified and official Twitter handle, @MBuhari, on Thursday.

Buhari also okayed the ongoing forensic investigation into NDDC’s past affairs, directing that the interim team constituted by Minister Godswill Akpabio remain.

The President also formally ordered that the supervision of the Commission shall remain under the Akpabio’s Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.

According to the statement, “The Interim Management Team of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) will be in place till the forensic audit is completed.

“I have given approval for the re-composition and inauguration of the Commission’s Board after the forensic audit is completed.

“Supervision of the NDDC shall remain under the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs”, President Buhari tweeted on Thursday.

Until now, the yet-to-be inaugurated NDDC board, which was confirmed by Senate, had Dr. Pius Odubu, a former Governor of Edo state as chairman.

The development gave rise to protests, with many saying it was not yet time for Edo to clinch the post. Rumour however has it that Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state was behind the several petitions and court actions against the board.

Odubu and Obaseki are said not to be in good terms. While the former is Adams Oshiomhole’s deputy, the Governor is currently fighting his successor (Oshiomhole) and his loyalists ahead Edo 2020 polls.

Foreign Affairs / ANALYSIS: How Trump Was Impeached And What Next For Him by MediaGuru36: 8:55am On Dec 19, 2019
The United States 435-member House of Representatives on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 impeached the country’s 45th President, Mr. Donald Trump.

Mr. Trump was impeached by the Democratic-controlled lower legislative chamber for “abuse of power” and “obstruction of congress”, reports Igbere TV.

He became the third American president to be impeached after former presidents Andrew Johnson (1868) and Bill Clinton (1998).

Under the first charge, Trump was accused of using his powers to pressure Ukraine’s government to announce investigations that could discredit his major political rival in the 2020 poll, Joe Biden. The House voted 230-197 to impeach him under this offence.

Under the second charge, Trump was accused of directing government officials not to comply with Congress summons. Several officials subsequently refused to testify during impeachment proceedings. The House voted 229-198 to impeach him under this offence.

What Next?

Trump will face a trial in the Republican-controlled Senate, where he’s likely to be acquitted. The Senate has 100 seats, with his party boasting of 53 seats.

The Senate will hold a trial on whether to convict Trump of the two offences and remove him from office, likely in January. A two-thirds (67) vote is required to convict, so far not one Republican senator has signaled they will vote to convict Trump.

How Conviction Is Done?

The House will pick a group of impeachment managers, who will make the case before the Senate that Trump should be removed from office. White House lawyers will serve as defense counsel. Senators play the role of jury while Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts will oversee the trial as judge.

What Does This Mean For Trump?

The good news for Trump is that Republicans have a majority in the Senate and will likely protect him. The bad news for him is that the party of every President who faced impeachment lost the next presidential election. Will Trump's case be different? Only time will tell.

This is a developing story. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Politics / Ohaneze Ndigbo Condemns Sealing Of Sun Newspaper Office by MediaGuru36: 9:17pm On Dec 15, 2019
Igbo sociocultural group, Ohaneze Ndigbo, has condemned the invading of Sun Newspapers office by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Igbere TV had reported that armed policemen and officials of the EFCC, on Saturday, stormed The Sun Lagos headquarters, marking the building "EFCC, keep off".

The EFCC had in a statement issued after the operation, attributed their actions to the recent judgement delivered against Slok Nigeria Limited by the Lagos state High Court.

The Sun however faulted the claim by EFCC, saying the newspaper was not a party to the case of EFCC vs. Orji Kalu & 2 others, wondering why its premises should then be marked.

Reacting to the development in a statement sent to Igbere TV, President-General of Ohaneze, Chief John Nwodo, said Nigeria was gradually turning into a police state.

Nwodo faulted the EFCC for its action, saying Sun Newspaper was not joined in the suit involving Senator Orji Kalu.

“EFCC must make a distinction between private liability and corporate liability. Sun Newspapers was not mentioned in the court judgement against Orji Kalu. The sealing of Sun newspapers must be explained otherwise we are descending into a police state.”

Yoruba apex socio-political organization, Afenifere, has condemned the invading of Sun Newspapers office by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Igbere TV had reported that armed policemen and officials of the EFCC, on Saturday, stormed the Lagos office of Sun Newspapers, marking the building “EFCC, keep off”.

The EFCC had in a statement issued after the operation, attributed their actions to the recent judgement delivered against SLOK Nigeria Limited by the Lagos state High Court.

The Sun, however, faulted the claim by EFCC, saying the newspaper was not a party to the case of EFCC vs. Orji Kalu & 2 others, wondering why its premises should then be marked.

The Newspaper said Slok and Senator Orji Kalu had filed an appeal against the High Court judgement and a hearing date given, wondering why the EFCC would not wait until the matter has been dispensed with at the Supreme Court.

Reacting to the development in a statement made available to Igbere TV, Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, said the EFCC should have considered all pending law suit.

The group said the latest action of the EFCC is only a confirmation of the agency’s lawlessness in the country and abuse of law.

“It is a continuation of EFCC’s lawlessness in the country. They have been acting on whims and caprices, not on the basis of law. The EFCC should have considered the case in court before taking such an action. The EFCC can only do that if there is an order by the court urging it to do so”, Odumakin said.

Politics / Ibrahim Babangida And David Mark Pictured Together Amid Death Rumour by MediaGuru36: 4:09pm On Dec 15, 2019
Contrary to the widespread rumour that former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida is dead, Igbere TV has confirmed that he is alive, hale and hearty.

Babangida, who is fondly called IBB by Nigerians, said he is alive contrary to reports that he had passed on.

An online Media (NOT IGBERE TV) had published that the former President passed on Sunday.

Igbere TV, however, gathered that General Babangida is hail and hearty and still bubbling with life.

An impeccable source told our Correspondent that he met with General Babangida along with his close friends and associates immediately the news broke out.

A statement made available to Igbere TV on Sunday signed by Prince Kassim Afegbua, spokesman to Babangida, collaborated the statement.

“It has become consistent fake news for quite some time now wishing our own IBB, the one we easily refer to as "the last don" of Nigeria politics, dead. The "fake news bill" would be a suitable response to this category of fake news carrier. IBB is very much alive and bubbling. He just started attending to friends and associates who came to see him today, Sunday, 15th December, 2019 right here at his Minna Hilltop mansion. He is full of life and in his characteristic bubbling mood.

“May Allah forgive those who wish IBB dead. God is the giver and taker of life, not humans. Death, as the irrevocable end of all creation, will surely come to everyone some day and at the appointed time and hour, but to deliberately spread fake news and wish someone dead, is to take humanity to another bizarre level. May Allah forgive them. IBB, by the special grace of Allah, the omniscient and omnipotent One, shall live to fulfill his journey and destiny in life, to the consternation of those who are always wishing him dead. This is about the third time this year.

“We wish to thank those who took time to reach out to us, home and abroad, to find out the truth. We thank you all for your love, care and concern. May Allah grant us all good health, sound mind and long life. Amin,” the statement read.
