SaharaReporters has reacted to the seven-count charge slammed on its publisher, Omoyele Sowore by the President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government.

He is also being charged for ‘insulting the president’, ‘cyberstalking’ President Buhari, ‘conspiracy to commit treason’, among other charges.

In the charge sheet obtained exclusively by us, dated Sept 19, the DSS accused Sowore of granting an interview which drew insults on the president.

The President Muhammadu Buhari led federal government has reiterated its commitment towards reviving all dead refineries in the country by 2022, Igbere TV reports.

Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari, gave the assurance when he toured facilities at the Port Harcourt refinery, on Saturday.

Speaking to newsmen on ground, the GMD assured that the nation’s refineries located in Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna would roar to live to refine crude oil in 2022.

According to the NNPC on its Twitter page, “GMD Kyari’s visit to the refinery was part of his strong determination and commitment to ensure that the nation’s refineries deliver real time value and address the petroleum needs of Nigerians.”

It quoted the GMD as saying that, “making the refineries to operate at optimal capacities was a mandate that NNPC group as a corporation would leave no stone unturned to actualize, saying a timely delivery of the asset was a priority.”

“We will stick to time, we will deliver this project by 2022. We will commence actual rehabilitation work in January. We will do everything possible between October and December to close out all necessary conditions for us to deliver on that project.

“I believe that with the support that we have from the shareholders - government of this country, the entire staff of this company and the contractors, I believe it is doable and we will deliver the project”, Kyari added

Politics / Nigeria Loses $1.3bn To Crude Oil Theft, Pipeline Vandalism by MediaGuru36: 6:21pm On Sep 19, 2019
Nigeria has lost over $1.3 billion worth of crude oil to theft and pipeline vandalism, in the First Quarter of the year, Igbere TV reports.

This was disclosed by Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, at the end of today's National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

Recall we had reported about the NEC meeting which was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, with top government functionaries in attendance.

Addressing journalists at the end of the meeting, Obaseki warned that “if the situation is not arrested immediately, losses could be as much as $2.7bn by the end of this year.”

Meanwhile, the National Executive Council (NEC) has voted for the implementation of the recently suspended National Livestock Plan.

Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, who disclosed this during today's NEC meeting, said a budget of N100 billion was proposed for the implementation plan.

He said that the federal government would bear 80 per cent of the N100 billion, while participating states would support with the balance of N20 billion and land for the programme.

Politics / Osinbajo’s NEC Proposes Return Of National Livestock Programme by MediaGuru36: 5:28pm On Sep 19, 2019
The Vice President Yemi Osinbajo led National Economic Council (NEC) has voted for the implementation of the National Livestock (RUGA) settlement plan, Igbere TV reports.

The decision to continue with the controversial programme, our State House correspondent reports, was reached at the monthly NEC meeting which held today, in Abuja, as earlier reported by us.

Igbere TV had earlier reported that Osinbajo presided over the meeting which had the 36 state Governors, Ministers, SGF, CBN Governor, top government functionaries, others in attendance.

Briefing newsmen at the end of the meeting, Chairman of the Farmers/Herders Clash sub-committee and Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, said that NEC proposed a budget of N100 billion for the implementation plan.

He said that the federal government would bear 80 per cent of the N100 billion, while participating states would support with the balance of N20 billion and land for the controversial programme.

Umahi explained that contrary to the widely held belief, the plan was not about cows alone but had three planks, including care for persons displaced by farmers/herders’ crisis and education programmes.

The Governor insisted that states were also free to use any animals of their choice, outside cattle, in implementing the controversial programme.

According to Umahi, the programme remained voluntary and would accommodate only states that expressed participation interest.

Though no date has been fixed for final take off of the programme, Umahi explained that the proposed N100 billion will still be reviewed in the next NEC meeting in October, next month.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Nsima Ekere, were challenging the result of the election that returned Emmanuel as Governor for a second term in the March 9, 2019 general election.

But delivering judgement on Thursday, the three-man panel of justices of the Election Tribunal unanimously dismissed their petition, and upheld the re-election of Governor Emmanuel of the PDP.

The Tribunal said the petitioners failed to call witnesses in 8 Local Governments out of the 21 they claimed they won, and therefore, dismissed the petition for lacking in merit and substance.

Celebrities / Billionaire Otedola Takes Over Majek Fashek’s Medical Bills by MediaGuru36: 11:27am On Sep 18, 2019
Nigerian billionaire and business mogul, Mr Femi Otedola, has taken over the medical expenses of legendary reggae icon Majek Fashek, Igbere TV has learnt.

Igbere TV had earlier reported that the Reggae veteran was terribly sick and currently admitted at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in London.

Mr Fashek was reportedly diagnosed of cancer of the neck, which is leaving him in a bed-ridden and life threatening condition.

Otedola’s intervention comes after Majek Fashek’s manager, Uzoma Day Omenka, painted a pathetic picture of the dire situation the musician is in.

Confirming Otedola’s magnanimity, Omenka in an Instagram post, said, “we really appreciate him for coming through and taking care of the hospital bills.

“Its a huge relief and we are grateful. We however still need more support from well meaning Nigerians to take care of other expenses.”

According to him, Fashek is recuperating and hopefully will be out of danger in no distant time.

This is not the first time Mr Otedola, DJ Cuppy’s father, will be stepping into cases of stranded Nigerians, and taking over their medical expenses.

Igbere TV recalls that the billionaire had recently spent over N36 million on medical bills of former captain and coach of the Super Eagles, Christian Chukwu.

Chukwu had a major surgery / operation at the Wellington Hospital, London, courtesy of billionaire Otedola.

Crime / How Port Harcourt Serial Killers Operate - Twitter User by MediaGuru36: 2:15am On Sep 16, 2019
A Nigerian lady has revealed the 'modus operandi' of the alleged serial killers on the lose in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, Igbere TV reports.

This comes barely 24 hours after another female victim was found dead in an hotel room in the city of Port Harcourt, on Sunday.

At least, 10 ladies have been reportedly killed under similar circumstances, within the space of few months all in Port Harcourt.

According to the Twitter user, who shared the tips in a tweet sighted by Igbere TV, the killers are ritualists who pose as potential customers to unsuspecting victims.

According to her, most of their victims (all females) are online vendors who are usually lured to the hotels to deliver "pay on delivery" wares.

She also claimed that the killers(male) usually use a lady to communicate with the "vendors", making it look really unsuspicious.

She said such "vendors", upon arrival at the hotels, are lured to the rooms by the female posing as customer, with flimsy excuse of being too lazy to walk, or not dressed up.

When asked by her followers how she managed to gather such information, she claimed a friend who was lucky not to have fallen victim, shared the story.

According to the story, the lady overheard a male voice at the background of the telephone conversation with her suppose female buyer.

She claimed her friend heard a male voice whispering to her suppose customer 'tell her to come to the room', which made her to quickly exit the premises.
