Crime / ‘yahoo Yahoo’: Guide Your Children Against Quick Money - EFCC Urges Parents by MediaGuru36: 2:02pm On Sep 13, 2019
Say No To ‘Quick Money’, EFCC Urges Nigerian Youths

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has urged Nigerian parents to guide their children and wards against the idea of ‘quick money’, Igbere TV reports.

Acting Chairman of the Commission, Mr Ibrahim Magu gave the advice on Friday when he featured on 'Nagarta' Radio Nigeria, Kaduna, as a special guest.

Magu, who was represented by Head of the EFCC in Kaduna, lamented what he described as the high rate of crimes and internet frauds involving Nigerian youths.

He warned the youth against nurturing the idea of making ‘quick money', saying that the EFCC was watching and would get anyone found wanting at anytime.

The EFCC boss further charged parents and guardians to monitor the activities of their children and wards, “especially as trends show that youth are easy recruits for fraudulent activities.”

Politics / Tribunal: Oshiomhole Taunts Atiku, Tells Him To Approach ‘World Court’ by MediaGuru36: 12:05pm On Sep 13, 2019
National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, has mocked Atiku Abubakar and his party, the PDP, over their outing at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had reported that Tribunal, on Wednesday, upheld President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election, striking out all petitions brought against him by the PDP and Atiku.

Reacting to the judgment, Oshiomhole taunted Atiku, asking him to challenge the Tribunal's verdict at the ‘world court’, saying he would still lose the case.

He also taunted his counterpart, Uche Secondus of the PDP, saying, “I am ready to meet my brother (Secondus) at the supreme court, and just like his name (SECONDus), he will take second and I Adams (FIRST man), will take first, Inshal Allah”, Oshiomhole added.

The former labour leader berated the PDP presidential candidate and asked Nigerians to resist what he termed ‘western prescriptions’, saying it was capable of ruining the country.

Igbere TV reports that the APC national chairman spoke while addressing journalists after a meeting with Buhari and some women leaders of the party on Thursday in Abuja.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has denied saying President Muhammadu Buhari will take 10 million Nigerians out of poverty, Igbere TV reports.

Reports had it on Thursday that Osinbajo said President Buhari would take 10 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years.

He reportedly made the pledge when he paid homage at the palace of Emir of Gwandu, HRH Muhammadu Bashar, in Kebbi State.

But reacting to the controversies surrounding the statement, Osinbajo said he never said 10 million Nigerians but 100.

The Vice President, who spoke through his Media Aide Laolu Akande, in a tweet sighted by Igbere TV, on Friday, wrote;

FOR THE RECORDS: VP Osinbajo said earlier today @ Emir of Gwandu's palace in Kebbi that "the President has promised that by the Grace of God, we will take 100m Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years." The VP could'nt have said 10m Nigerians. Please ignore any misleading reports.

Politics / Tribunal: Buhari Extends Hand Of Fellowship To Atiku, PDP by MediaGuru36: 12:01am On Sep 12, 2019
...dedicates victory to God

President Muhammadu Buhari has extended hand of fellowship to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 23, 2019 presidential election, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had reported that the tribunal, Wednesday, upheld Buhari’s re-election, striking out all petitions brought against him by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Reacting to the development in a series of tweets sighted by Igbere TV on his verified Twitter handle, President Buhari called on the petitioners to join hands with him to move the country forward.

“...I am hereby extending a hand of fellowship to everyone who felt aggrieved at the outcome of the election, and went to court. It was well within your democratic rights to go to Court. Now that the Court has spoken, let us join hands to move Nigeria to the Next Level”, he said.

“With this ruling, it is now time for the country to move forward as one cohesive body, putting behind us all bickering and potential distractions over an election in which Nigerians spoke clearly and resoundingly”, Buhari added.

The President dedicated his victory to the Almighty God, and to all Nigerians, while commending the judiciary for “dispensing justice without fear or favour.”

“Today’s ruling is a well-deserved victory for Nigerians who trooped out overwhelmingly to elect us for a second term in office. I was unperturbed all along, because I knew Nigerians freely gave us the mandate. We are now vindicated!”, he stressed.

Igbere TV had reported that the Tribunal, Wednesday, upheld Buhari’s re-election, striking out all petitions brought against him by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

In a statement obtained by Igbere TV, Bello hailed the Tribunal’s verdict, urging the PDP and Atiku to “accept the outcome in good faith” and “join hands with the President to move the nation forward.”

The governor, who is currently seeking re-election on the platform of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), also wished the President a successful second term.

“The Judiciary”, he affirmed, “has again proved itself strong in the protection of democracy and the rule of law in Nigeria”.

He said he had never entertained any iota of doubt about today’s outcome “because it was clear that Nigerians voted overwhelmingly to re-elect the President.”

The presently trending hash tag on Twitter is #konji. This comes after a lady, @yettyclassy, called out a male user, Ayo, for allegedly deceiving her, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV observed Monday night that the dragging came after the lady discovered that Ayo has been lying to her for months, just to get what he wanted.

According to the screenshots shared by the lady and sighted by our correspondent, Ayo had lied to Yetty that he was not in a relationship, just to sleep with her.

The move, however, backfired after Ayo, weeks later, shared "one year anniversary" photos of himself and wife, on his timeline, which apparently angered Yetty.

“Thank you for ONE year, I realized I've never needed anyone in my life the way that I need you.

“You are the light to my path, you are the one who makes it all make sense.

“Welcome to the beginning of FOREVER.
I love you..Happy first Anniversary Ayo mi” he wrote.

Yetti has since taken to her Twitter timeline to call out Ayo with a claim that he betrayed her trust, saying she almost fell for him with her body.

See tweets screenshots and reactions that followed the revelation, including where it all started from - as obtained by Igbere TV.

Politics / UPDATE: Tribunal Did Not Sack Orji Kalu, His Certificate Remains Intact by MediaGuru36: 8:09pm On Sep 09, 2019
There’s been a report that the Election Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, had sacked Dr Orji Kalu as Senator representing Abia North senatorial district.

This is not only false, but totally misleading. The Election Tribunal only ordered for supplementary election in few wards, in just 2 of 5 LGAs.

The Tribunal never ordered INEC to withdraw Kalu’s Certificate of Return, in fact, it gave the distinguished Senator 30 days to appeal the judgement.

In conclusion, Kalu, who is ahead of his closest rival with over 10,000 votes, remains the Senator representing Abia North — and not sacked.

Here are other points you need to note too about the case, and a comprehensive report of the whole development — as brought to you by Igbere TV.

Abia North: Tribunal Orders Supplementary Poll In Few Wards

The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, has ordered a supplementary poll in Abia North Senatorial District of Abia State, Igbere TV reports.

Abia North is the immediate constituency of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, former Governor of the state and Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate.

Kalu ran on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 23 general election, to emerge Senator representing Abia North in the National Assembly.

In a ruling delivered on Monday, the Tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a re-run in few wards, in just 2 of 5 local governments of Abia North, within a period of 90 days.

The Tribunal headed by Justice Cornelius Akintayo, also gave the two-time Governor of Abia a 30-day period to appeal the judgement.

Reacting to the ruling in a statement obtained by Igbere TV, Senator Orji Kalu urged his supporters not to lose hope, stressing that his mandate would be reclaimed at the Court of Appeal.

Kalu had polled 30,203 votes against his closest rival, Mao Ohaubunwa of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 20,801 votes in the February 23 poll.

While admonishing members and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain strong, steadfast and law-abiding, Kalu noted that he will not relent in sustaining his goodwill at the grassroots.

He said that his victory in the 2019 general election, was borne out of his popularity among the people, stressing that “justice can only be delayed, but not denied.”

The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, has nullified the election of Dr Orji Kalu as Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that the Tribunal also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a re-run into the Abia North zone, within a period of 90 days.

This comes on Monday, following the petition by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mao Ohuabunwa, challenging the declaration of Kalu as winner of the election.

Orji-Kalu, a two-time Governor of Abia State, was elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 23, 2019 general election, reports Igbere TV.

Politics / Edo APC Crisis: Ignore Oshiomhole, Obaseki Orders Govt Officials by MediaGuru36: 4:51pm On Sep 09, 2019
Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has ordered officials of the state not to join issues with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, over the “hostile” comments credited to the former governor, Igbere TV reports.

Obaseki whose directive was conveyed in a statement jointly signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, and the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Barr. Paul Ohonbamu, and sent to Igbere TV, said he is pursuing the path of peace for the sake of Edo people.

The statement reads,

“The Edo State Government observed over the weekend, leading to this week, very hostile statements credited to our revered National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, across the various media platforms, including radio, television, newspapers and the social media.

“This onslaught against the governor and government of Edo State, widely publicised, has also been trailed by enquiries about the state government’s response to these attacks, from various stakeholders, both within and outside the country.

“Consequently, the Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, has instructed that no state actor, within Edo State Government, should make any comment whatsoever or join issues on the ensuing hostile comments and discussions.

“Obaseki said he has chosen to pursue the path of peace and reconciliation in dealing with these issues in the interest of the good people of Edo State and our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

This comes after the APC National Chairman said, on a national TV, that the only issue he has with his successor was because he abandoned his projects, and also sacked the only Commissioner he nominated.

Politics / Edo Assembly Crisis: ‘Obaseki Abandoned My Projects...’ - Oshiomhole by MediaGuru36: 10:09pm On Sep 08, 2019
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, says the issue he has with Governor Godwin Obaseki is because he abandoned his projects, Igbere TV reports.

He said he expected his successor to continue from where he stopped on the said projects, revealing that those were part of the “continuity” campaign promises to the people during the 2016 guber poll.

Igbere TV reports that Oshiomhole, a two-time Governor of Edo State, made the revelation in a special interview with Channels TV’s Seun Okinbaloye, when he appeared before the station’s Politics Today programme, as a special guest.

This will be the first time the former governor will publicly admit to having a misunderstanding with his successor, and even granting an interview with pressmen regarding Edo politics, since the lingering Edo APC/Assembly crisis started.

Igbere TV recalls that the Edo Assembly crisis kick started after 15 of 24 members-elect said to be loyal to the APC national chairman were prevented from the controversial June 17 inauguration, which saw Obaseki’s 9 loyalists sworn in.

Even though the governor and his predecessor have continued to deny existent of any rift, Igbere TV gathered that political actors and heavyweights in the state are shopping for the replacement of Obaseki ahead Edo 2020 governorship election.

This is even as a group within the Edo APC, Edo Peoples Movement (EPM), accused the governor of incompetency, high-handedness, anti-party activities, and abandonment (of those who worked for his emergence as governor).

Speaking with Channels TV on Saturday, Oshiomhole, accused Governor Obaseki of abandoning the Edo five star (specialist) hospital for “crude politics”, insisting that even an opposition successor wouldn't have done so.

His words: “What I expected the Governor to do, which will be the benefit of continuity, because we told Edo people we are continuing from where I stopped...

“The benefit that ought to accrue is that the Governor continues with these projects, so that Edo people can see the benefits, even if I was succeeded by PDP government, I don't think they would have shut that hospital for as long as the Governor did.

“So now I will ask you, are these issues personal to me?.

“We have no arguments over money, we have no arguments over appointment, in fact in the meeting that we held with four governors including Gov. Bagudu, I asked the Governor (Obaseki) 'how many Commissioners did I nominate to your cabinet?', he agreed that I only nominated one person, only one out of more than 20 commissioners, not many Nigerians will believe that, because for me I was out of government and I have already convinced myself that the day I step out of government, that's it.

“And after that first meeting the Governor decided to remove even that one Commissioner along with seven others, but that's not my business, he has the right to appoint, remove, appoint, remove, those are government discretion.

“The Governor can never tell you that I have interfered in his choice of project and so on.

“The only thing I feel a bit worried about is the fact that some of the projects we started together have been abandoned.

“There is no way to solve disagreement without talking to the aggrieved party, let me assure you, this government is not under threat, it is those who make money from crises, what I call merchants of confusion, they are only relevant when there is a fight, who can tell the Governor 'oh don't worry they want to impeach you,' the governor should ask himself what has he done to deserve impeachment.

“What will I gain if Godwin does not run second term?, if I did what I did, whether he acknowledge it or not, but people know what I did to support him to be, what comfort will I have if he is terminated halfway?”, Oshiomhole added.
