Former presidential candidate, Madam Oby Ezekwesili has reacts to President Buhari threat to Ballot Box Snatchers.

Buhari who warned those planning to snatch Ballot Box during the elections to be ready to pay with their lives.

He said that such act would be the last unlawful act the person will engage in.

Oby Ezekwesili reacts to Buhari's order as she said it's against the law, she said.

Please get the Attorney General to walk over to the Villa and show @MBuhari that Sec.129 (4) of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) provides that, any person who snatches or destroys any election material commits an offence and is liable on conviction to 24 months imprisonment✍�.

The Enugu State Police Command have arrested a four man suspected armed robbery gang, who had been on its wanted list.

Spokesperson for the command, SP Ebere Amaraizu, in a statement on Sunday in Enugu, said the suspects were arrested on Saturday, Feb. 16 at about 10:30 p.m.

He said a cut to size single barrel locally made gun was recovered from the suspects, noting that the feat was achieved through well gathered and coordinated intelligence information.

Four officials of the National Drug Law Enforcementr Agency NDLEA, were killed by unknown gunmen in Ondo state over the weekend.

According to reports, the gunmen stormed the NDLEA checkpoint in lfon Division in Ose Local government area of the state, and opened fire at the officers who were on a stop and search mission. The gunmen who came with motorcycle, also burnt the NDLEA Toyota Hilux.

One of the officers however escaped unhurt. The gunmen also carted away the rifles of the deceased NDLEA officials.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Madurai, on Monday, arrested a suspected Nigerian drug supplier, Grant Victor Ikenna.

Ikenna who lives in Tiruchengode, Dist-Namakkal (Tamilnadu), was arrested in connection with smuggling of drug to Doha, Qatar which was seized at Andheri Mumbai.

Alowonle Asekun, the Treasurer of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Jibowu-Yaba Branch was killed by hoodlums in the Grammar School area of the Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State last week.



According to reports, Asekun, while on his way out of the Ajasa-Lamberu Street in the Grammar School area, was accosted by the hoodlums, who reportedly shot him to death in front of First Atlantic School on Friday, February 8, 2019.



Eyewitnesses who spoke with Punchng at the scene of the incident, said the hoodlums trailed Asekun to the area, adding that the news of his death had caused panic in the Jibowu and Fadeyi areas of the state.



One of the eyewitnesses, Akeem Adepoju, said Asekun was shot three times and died on the spot.



A taxi driver who witnessed the slaying said,

“I was in my wife’s shop when the incident happened. Before the hoodlums carried out the attack on the man, I observed that about four boys, who wore fez caps, parked their motorcycles and walked around our street for over one hour. Around 2pm, Asekun was on his way out when they attacked him and shot him three times till he died. Immediately they killed him, they took his wristwatch, phone and emptied his pocket. Later on, the patrol vehicle of the Onyabo Vigilante Group came to carry his remains.”

When contacted, a member of the NURTW in the branch, Shehu Kazeem, said one of the suspected killers used a hidden number to call and inform him that Asekun had been murdered. Kazeem said,

“Immediately the incident happened, we realised that police officers had been stationed in the Ereko area. At first, I didn’t know what was going on, until someone called me with a hidden number to inform me that we should go and carry Asekun’s corpse. I went to the place where he was murdered and confirmed what they said. I really can’t explain how I felt when I saw his corpse. His death was very painful.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, who confirmed the incident said two people have been arrested in connection with the crime, adding that the state Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Mu’azu, has transferred the case to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, for further investigation.

15-year-old girl, Miss Chinwe, that was recently married off to an older man, Izuchukwu Igwilo, from Anambra state, has been rescued.

Last week, there was a public outcry on all media platforms after photos from the introduction ceremony of Chinwe and Izuchukwu surfaced online.

Activist, Prince Harrison Gwamnishu, who championed the course for Chinwe to be rescued, gave an update on Saturday. According to the Gwamnishu, Chinwe who is 15 going on 16, has a six-month old baby and she has been taken back to her parents' house. He also stated that on Monday February 4th, she will be officially handed over to the Anambra state Ministry of Women Affairs.

Reno Omokri, ex-aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to the helicopter crash that almost claimed the life of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and members of his chopper crew in Kabba Kogi State in Saturday.


Writing on his Twitter handle on Saturday, Omokri, who advised the VP to watch his back, said the non-fatal helicopter crash was beyond mere coincidence.

According to him, the crash was the second near-death experience the Vice-President would be having via helicopter within the past 12 months.


He claimed that some politicians, who perceived Osinbajo as an obstacle to their ambition of clinching the presidency in 2023 might actually be plotting his ‘elimination’.

Omokri tweeted;

“This is the 2nd near death experience via a helicopter crash that OSinbajo has had.

“Once Is an accident. Twice is not a coincidence. It is a pattern.

“Osinbajo better watch his back! I know that some see him as an obstacle to becoming President in 2023 #OsinbajoWatchYourBack”

The second man in the country was involved in a chopper accident in Kogi state. The helicopter conveying Vice President Yemi Osinbajo crash-landed in Kabba, Kogi State.

According to information by Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity) to the Vice President, the incident occurred on Saturday afternoon.
