Justice S.M. Shuaibu of the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna, on Friday, June 28, 2019 ordered the final forfeiture of the sum of N49,000,000 (Forty Nine Million Naira) to the Federal Government of Nigeria. The money was intercepted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Kaduna Zonal Office, on March 14, 2017 at the Kaduna International Airport.

The money, all mint, stashed in five large 150 kilogramme coloured sacks, was intercepted by EFCC Operatives following an intelligence report received by the zone.

The final forfeiture order followed a motion on notice brought by the EFCC through prosecution counsels, Joshua Saidi and Onyeka Ekweozor.

After obtaining an interim forfeiture order, some persons showed up and claimed to be the owners of the abandoned money.

They further filed a counter affidavit against the Commission's motion for the final forfeiture in suit No: FHC/KD/CS/32/17 between Oyebanji Olaitan Steve & others Vs EFCC. Consequently, the court ordered for oral evidence to be taken as there were conflicts in the various affidavits filed by the parties.

In his ruling, Justice Shuaibu granted the EFCC motion for the final forfeiture of the sum as he dismissed the claims of the applicants.

Wale Jana, the CEO of Sapphire Scents, defended Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo in the wake of an explosive interview by Busola Dakolo where she said she was raped twice when she was a minor by the COZA pastor.

Wale accused Busola and her husband Timi Dakolo of being pawns in a conspiracy against Pastor Fatoyinbo. He went on to shame Timi and Busola for having their first two kids before getting married.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office, on Thursday, June 20, 2019 swept on hideouts of suspected internet fraudsters in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, and smoked out 27 suspects among whom were four ladies suspected to be their girlfriends.

Officials of the Commission have embarked on weeks of surveillance, working on series of intelligence gathered on the activities of suspected ‘Yahoo Boys’ in locations across the city.

The intelligence was found to be substantially credible, leading to the sting operation on Thursday.

Among the arrested suspects are Adeleke Peter, Babalola Abiodun, Aduroja Temitope, Abdulazeez Razak, Adesina Adewale, Osayintoba Dare, Adebowale Fadairo, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, Akinseye Samuel and Osanyintoba Femi.

Others include: Austin Onyekachukwu, Oluwaseun Adesina, Ibosiola Olamilekan, Ayoola Lekan, Abdullahi Owopade, Olatunbosun Kolawole, Saheed Adebola, Osanyintoba Pelumi, Ayo Bello, Samuel Emmanuel, Olalekan Oladele, Solomon Mattew, Oyelude Opeyemi, Quadri Olatunji, Ibrahim Alao, Tunde Bello and Fatolu Temitope.

Eight exotic cars including two Lexus and six Toyota brands, as well as many costly phones and laptops, were among the items recovered in the course of the operation.

The suspects, who variously claimed to be graduates, students, computer engineers and businessmen, are currently undergoing interrogation to ascertain their level of involvement in the alleged act.

In yet another raid aimed at eradicating the menace of internet fraud and cyber crime, popularly known as ‘yahoo-yahoo’ in the South-East region of Nigeria, the Enugu Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 arrested five suspected fraudsters.

They include, Ogbu Obinna Christopher, Onyeagba Joseph, Chime Isiah, Duru Franklyn Tochukwu and Orji Uchenna.

They were arrested following an early morning raid at their respective residences located at Goshen Estate and Trans Ekulu, Enugu.

Their arrest followed intelligence report about their fraudulent online activities.

On the strength of the information gathered, search warrants were executed in their houses/compound.

Items recovered from them include, several mobile phones, laptop computers, suspected counterfeit currency in N1,000 notes totaling N31,000; three Lexus cars, one Toyota Avalon car, several ATM cards and other incriminating items.

The Economic and Financial crimes Commission, EFCC, Sokoto zonal office, on June 17, 2019 secured the interim forfeiture of N60 million cash linked to a former Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Prof. Abdullahi Muhammad Shinkafi and Murtala Muhammad Shinkafi.

Justice Fadima Murtala of the Federal High Court, sitting in Gusau, Zamfara State, granted the order for the interim forfeiture of the said sum.

The money was recovered in four ‘Ghana-must-go’ bags found inside a Black Land Cruiser Prado Jeep with registration No: DKA 67 PX (Kaduna), at No.145 Igala Hausing Estate, off By-pass Road Gusau.

The order was pursuant to a motion ex-parte dated June 13, 2019 brought by the EFCC.

An upcoming Nigerian rapper simply identified as Ziggy, died yesterday Sunday June 16th after falling at a 4-storey building in Paradise estate Lekki, Lagos state where he resides.

According to reports, Ziggy was in the estate taking a walk when he unknowingly stepped into an open space which was supposed to house an elevator. He fell immediately, broke his bones and was rushed to the hospital where he died.

His remains has been deposited in the morgue.

A youth corps member, Chidinma Stella Oyebisi, who was serving in Kano state, has died.

According to her friends, Chidinma who got married in October last year, died minutes after giving birth to a baby girl yesterday June 15th.

Stella who graduated from the Kano state Polytechnic over a year ago, died as a result of complications that arose whilst she was giving birth.

Her friends have taken to social media to mourn her sudden demise.
