PoliticsBuhari’s Bodyguards And Police Clash In Abuja by mediang(op): 10:26am On Aug 18, 2016
The Police have deployed mobile policemen to the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Office in Abuja, venue of the planned protest by former bodyguards to President Muhammadu Buhari who participated during the 2015 presidential campaigns.

The Spokesperson of the group, Badiru Olabiyi Balogun, said that his group will go ahead with the protest.

He said, “Two truck loads of mobile policemen have been deployed to our campaign office. They said the instruction was that they should not allow us access to the office and that the people outside should not be allowed to go in. So, we are meeting there by 9:00 am this morning.”

The matter was reported that the same group had protested against their “exclusion” by those they described “cabals in the government.”
They alleged that apart from the 20,000 they got on two occasions in January and February 2015, “we had never and were never given anything.”

While some of them wept profusely because “some cabals have hijacked the President”, they said many of the key actors in Buhari’s government, who did not work for him “are now reaping where they did not sow” and have denied them access to him.

PoliticsPresident Buhari - Nigeria Is Now A Poor Country by mediang(op): 9:05am On Aug 12, 2016
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday said Nigeria had suddenly become a poor country as a result of the sharp drop in the price of oil.

He, however, said the prudent manner his administration had been handling the nation’s resources had made it impossible for people to know of the severe shortage in the country.

The President said this while receiving the United Nations Population Fund’s Executive Director and Under Secretary-General of the United Nations, Prof. Babatunde Osotimehin, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

This was contained in a statement by President Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina

President Buhari said commitment to transparency and accountability was serving the government in good stead, despite severe shortage of resources in the country.

He said, “It has been a very difficult year for Nigeria. Before we came to office, petroleum sold for about $100 per barrel. Then it crashed to $37, and now oscillates between $40 and $45 per barrel.

PoliticsBoko Haram - We’ll Bomb Aso Rock by mediang(op): 9:32am On Aug 09, 2016
Abubakar Shekau, leader of Boko Haram has resurfaced in a new video, vowing to fight Nigeria and the world.

Shekau speaking in Hausa and Arabic, said he had no intention of waging war against Muslims, and threatened to carry out the “mother of all attacks” on Abuja, capital of Nigeria.

The threat which is coming on the heels of claims by the Federal Government that the militant group has been wiped out.
While he expressed loyalty to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, leader of Boko Haram affiliate, ISIS, Shakau said he would never acknowledge Abu Musab Al-Barnawi, as leader of Boko Haram.

The group Boko Haram also threatened attack on army chief Yusuf Buratai, and spokesperson Usman.

he said Al-Barnawi’s appointment was made known by the latest issue of an ISIS-owned magazine, but Shekau vehemently rejected the development, saying ISIS deceived him because he opposed their principles.

Shekau said in the 24-minute video: “We have no desire to fight our Muslim brethren,” an apparent reference to IS. He said the Al-Barnawi group was only seeking to “create division” among Boko Haram.

Nairaland GeneralPolice Inspector, 5 Others Shot As Militants Storm Lagos Community by mediang(op): 5:35pm On Jul 24, 2016
There was tension in Fatoki community in the Igando area of Lagos as suspected militants stormed the area.

The hoodlums stormed the community in the wee hours of yesterday and unleashed terror on the residents. The militants were said to have attempted to abduct a wealthy man in the area but the man fortuitously escaped.

The militants were said to have started shooting sporadically at anyone they saw, and in the process shot a Police Inspector and other people.

It was gathered that the community sent a distress call to the Police who stormed the place and engaged the militants in a gun battle that lasted for about two hours.

A police source told Sunday Sun that when the militants exhausted their bullets, they escaped through Totowu Waterways, Ogun State and abandoned some of their guns.

A resident, Donald Asiedu said: “We have a vigilance group. We were at our duty posts when the militants stormed our community.

They had more superior arms than us. We took to our heels. They were armed with GPMG (general purpose machine gun, with ammunition chains). They were shooting everywhere. I thank God that we were able to escape from the militants.

Asiedu said the militant attempted to kidnap a businessman (names withheld), but the man escaped through the window.
