Club Africain 0 vs Sunshine Stars 0. Sunshine Stars are out of the confederation cup. The free fall of Nigeria's football continues. In the other s/final: Maghreb Fes defeated Interclube 1-0 to qualify on the away goals rule after the match ended 2-2 on aggregate. The final of the 2011 CAF Confederation Cup will be between Club Africain and Maghreb Fes |
Gerard Deulofeu on for Villa for his Barca debut. One kid to watch out for. |
Cuenca 4-0 |
. . . and Messi completes his hat-trick. Told y'all he was back. This has got to be the fastest hat-trick this season - 30 minutes. Barca 3-0 |
Golazo de Messiiiiiii 2-0. Messi is back! |
Barca line-up: Valdés; Alves, Mascherano, Abidal, Adriano; Keita, Sergio, Thiago; Villa, Messi, Cuenca |
Expecting a smashing win for Barca. |
Cracking goal! City score on the break. Johnson. . . City led 3-1 |
I hope Pep rests Alves, Xavi, Messi for CL in the coming week. Puyol and Pique are back and should start or maybe come on at some point in the game. |
We've been linked with a move for Valencia's Jordi Alba. His contract expires next summer and he has so far refused to extend his contract. Alba is an ex Barca youth player. |
usbcable:Levante embodies everything football should be about - a group of guys playing football not for money, not for fame, but for the love of the game. This is a team operating on an unbelievably tiny budget. They're even in administration. Their highest paid player earns €350k a year. Their operating budget is €6.5m. The last transfer window, they only spent €210k on transfers. The majority of their transfers are guys that have been rejected at other clubs and they pick them up on a free and a couple of loan signings. . . Incredible won't do justice to what they've achieved so far - staying on top of La Liga at a time when football is ruled by petrodollars including hitting 7 wins on the bounce. That's why I support FFP. If FFP is properly implemented then teams like Levante can compete. Meanwhile, what on earth is happening to the Yellow Subs? |
Pedro out for two weeks. |
Tepid performance, but what matters is that we got the three points. What seperates a champion from others is the ability to grind out results even when not playing well. Isaac Cuenca looked really promising. Great debut from the youngster. |
Barca B won away at Alloycano 4-1. Second win of the season and their first in 6 games. JDS, Carmona, Rafinha and Tello got on the scoresheet. Rafinha has now scored 5 goals this season. |
David Silva: 4 attempts, 1 goal; 60/65 passes (30/33 final third), 1 assist |
Another Silva masterclass today. Best player in the premier league. |
We know how to make up for dropped points. There's a certain fixture known as El Classico. |
cupid4ig:Did you watch the game? Didn't you see Kanoute trying to kill Fabregas? |
This caps what has been a horrible day. Going to bed. |
Speechless |
This Varas must have some sort of force field around him. |
Get in you bloody goal |
Adriano now at LB. We're back to 4-3-3. Sevilla defending excellently which is just a euphemism for 'parking the bus'. Javi Varas is very good. Best GK in La Liga. |
Pep has gone for a 3 man defence and we are being opened up by Sevilla right now. |
The scoreline doesn't tell the whole story. It could easily have been 4-4. |
Which one be ball to hand? Ramos handball was not given. Joaquin was also brought down in the box by Khedira, no penalty! |
These LL refs arf cunts. Malaga should have had two clear penalties. |
Malaga should win this. |
Cazorla + Joaquin + RVN + Rondon. . . . Madrid don die |
Khanye, Eyo, where una run go sef? Sevilla are unbeaten in the league this season and boast an excellent defensive record. Their strength comes from the wings where they've got Navas and Perotti who are very capable of running any defence ragged. They are also solid in the middle with Medel and Rakitic/Trochowski. Negredo is injured and out of this one and they'll likely play Kanoute up front with del Moral playing off him. My preferred line-up: Valdes Alves, Puyol, Abidal, Adriano; Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta; Pedro, Messi, Villa. I'd have gone for a 3-4-3 formation because Sevilla are solid in the middle but then a 3 man defence would be severely exposed by Sevilla's excellent wing play. We all saw how we were exposed at the back when we played a 3 man defence against Valencia. Jeremy Mathieu, Jordi Alba and Pablo Hernandez kept terrorising us from the flanks. Playing with 3 at the back is very dangerous when you are dealing with wingers with a lot of guile. |
pro01:Sunday Oliseh and not Garba Lawal scored the winning goal against Spain in France '98 Danny Shittu: I don't know how he became a footballer. He has no business playing football. |
Barcelona line-up: Valdes; Alves, Mascherano, Abidal, Adriano; Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta; Messi, Pedro, Villa. |
