Semantics. Everything you typed here is exactly what I typed/explained earlier. Read again. This time, slowly. Cheers.

Upeople:

You should at least read & understand the guy’s question before providing answer. The guy wants to submit his application around Oct 2021 but their marriage is in January 2022. By the time they get married, ircc would have started processing his application, all he can do is to inform ircc of his marital status.

BTW, your argument isn’t valid. Study permit application is never a joint application. When applicant include their spouse information in their study permit application it doesn’t mean the spouse has been added to the application. The application is for one person (the student). A student that wants to travel with his/her family will have to do study permit, SOWP for the spouse & visit visa for the kids (depends on how old they are )

Permanent resident application you can add your spouse & kids in one application.

There is a difference between “adding someone to an application” and “including a family member information in an application”

On the contrary, you can add in your application that you are married and include your spouses’ name. It doesn’t mean you won’t apply separately for him or her (SOWP). This is straightforward and better than notifying IRCC later about a change of marital status. What you should avoid saying is that you’re travelling together to stand a better chance of approval. The spouse would be your tie to Nigeria. Something to make you return to Nigeria. You can always say you’re married if you’re married. Just provide the name of the spouse in the application, then apply for him or her when your study permit has been approved.

Also, some people apply for study permit and SOWP at the same time. It’s a bit risky and I wouldn’t advice it. But some people have been approved this way.

My SOWP was approved with my wife’s study approval letter, not even study permit. I applied immediately she was approved and we waited until my SOWP was approved after three months. My wife and I travelled together. So people should ask questions and use the best possible option. Remember that applications are never the same. What worked for A may not work for B. And PRAY. Na God dey do these things las las. No be power nor might.

To answer your question you cannot add ur spouse to your study permit application but you can notify ircc of the change in your marital status.

Note that ur spouse can’t travel with you to canada on your study visa, you have to do a separate SOWP application for her

I would advice that you start the application as a married person. You can do a court wedding before you start your own application. You will then fill the form stating you are married. You will include your spouses’ name and marriage certificate in the application. It’s safer and uncomplicated that way.

Congratulations to you sir.
Please I have a question, i have an enrollment date of may 2022, and i love adding my fiancee to my application. We will be probably getting married in Jan next year. But waiting till then to start visa application might be late considering the 20weeks processing time.
The question is, if I start application as a single person probably in October this year, can i still add her when we get married in January??

No. The airlines won’t ask for a return ticket for work permits and international students. Even you can not be sure of your return date. So don’t bother about a return ticket. They may however ask for your employment letter. I showed them my employment letter in Nigeria, and told them I have an open work permit in Canada which allows me to accept any job.

Leoadexy:
Wow! Thanks for this information, I thought I still need authorization letter even though I presently have one but its almost 3 months which is making me rush to beat the deadline. I like to ask if Airlines in Nigeria will still bother you with return ticket despite the SOWP. I want to be sure if I wont be delayed at the Airport to buy return ticket as they usually do for visitors visa. I will appreciate your response

Hello guys, I thought to chip this in. If your SOWP is approved, you do not need an authorisation letter. Students, open work permits are among people who can travel to Canada. I arrived at the end of March without an authorisation letter. My Wife is the student, I have an open work permit.

I cannot thank you guys enough. Especially for the Abuja VFS heads up.

3)Medical done at IOM Lagos on December 7.
4)Medical passed on December 12
5)Passport request December 16
6)Two-way courier was sent through DHL on December 18 (a Friday)
7)Application was received on Monday, December 21 and sent to IRCC on the same day
coolDecision envelope was dispatched from IRCC on Wednesday, December 23
9)Decision envelope was received by VFS Abuja on Thursday, December 24.
10)Contacted DHL to know if they are picking up packages from VFS Abuja, they said yes.
11)Shipment was put on hold because of the holidays. But it was shipped into Lagos on Saturday.

You can travel with your family if they have their visa as well.
You can either apply alone first then apply for them once you get your TRV or you apply together as a family.
That being said, I always advise applicants to apply alone first and use their family as home-tie , then apply for their family once they get their own TRV. But the choice is yours to make

The choice would be to apply alone first. Lol. Thanks.

You will need to apply for approval before they can travel. You can apply for the approval after they receive their Visa and LOI

Thank you.

Hello guys, does anyone know if family members are being allowed to travel/accompany students into Canada? I understand they also have to apply, but are they (family/accompany member) considered as essential travel too?

I will appreciate answers or experiences at point of entry. Thanks.

Please do I need a transit Visa to go through Germany? Please any suggestion of flight for next week? I'm going to Halifax

You do not need a transit visa if you have a valid UK or US visa. If you don’t have these visas, you will need to apply at a German Consulate, who are always keen to deny. I’ll advice you to go through a country that won’t require a transit visa. Good luck.
