just want to sound a note of warning after what I went through at the hands of gtb (N224/1$) where I lost almost 6k

banks are trading using interbank exchange rates which is high
so at checkout, it is better to checkout in naira as merchants such as amazon will use the official rate. however, if you use checkout in dollars, you will be subject to very volatile rates


I paid for an item on ebay charged in dollars unfortunately for me, the seller did not claim his money until after a week....by then the interbank rate had risen from 207 to 224....while the cbn rate was 199.

Hmm this is really terrifying... Hope this will not be my case cos I just used gtb with pay pal...

I get what you are saying @ madridfc and I know it. Look at the picture. I don't stay in lagos, I didn't receive an invoice for my item n its not light weight. The earlier I receive its, the better I can pay so as to pick up soonest it is cleared. The shipment has delayed n not being in Lagos is extra days of course, and more over you know how dollar is dangerously rising, the earlier I receive it n pay the better. How long do your orders take on average? I have done a lot of deliveries but so much pending orders since December... Been paid for a few of them. Do they return the orders to you if undeliverable? Even deliveries that are lagos addresses are pending for over 3 weeks! no payment in escrow. I actually put a pause on my deliveries now and rejecting new orders. Too much of my goods out there with kongo.

Pls estherdim, kindly give an answer to this, we are trying to learn from your hands-on experience here. Pls do justice to that question. Thanks

I suggest u get ur phone number you registered with functioning and try remember all your registered details also load your credit really well like 1k then put a call tru to them like 6-8pm or 2am to 3am. they should lift it if all those are correct when they ask from you

Been through that before and I know what's up wit it, am just gonna get almost everything new and go stealth...

I mean the phone number I used then when I opened the eBay account some 2 years back got lost so I didn't retrieve the line and I started using a new line. that's the line they are requesting to call me back on for final verification without it they said I'm no longer going to use eBay and if I open another account with a new name and there system detects I will still be suspended.

This is close to my own experience, and each time I open, they detect it and close it. I don't even know the extent to which one has to change things, whether we go changer ourself entirely... What's the way forward. Opening and closing ain't funny especially when your money gets stuck
