IT'S LONG, BUT PLEASE TAKE A TIME TO READ. THANKS. International Mother Language Day Celebration Theme: Indigenous languages matter for development, peace building and reconciliation Date: 21st February, 2019 Language Advocacy For Environmental, Human Rights and Development in Nigeria PRESS STATEMENT Researches have shown that Nigeria is endowed with about 450 languages and more than 700 dialects. And it is sadden to note that, of these languages and dialects, none in the next 3 to 4 generations will survive if speedy measures are not taken. It is in this view that on this day of celebrating the international mother language day with the theme: Indigenous Languages matter in development, peace building and reconciliation that I call for attention to be given to the development of our indigenous languages in all perspective. Our languages carry the power to build a peaceful nation and national unity. With our languages, conflicts can be resolved, settled and peace sustained. It has the capability of uniting the individual hearts to appreciate national unity. It gives a nation a special brand. And as a country with diverse languages, it becomes a tourist cite for language scholars who have over the years come into the country to study languages and our cultural diversities in Nigeria. Our language aids in preserving species and environmental biodiversity for future recognition and study. Without indigenous languages, documentation of environmental, health, agricultural, cultural and artistic knowledge will be impossible. Thus, a language advocacy campaign will reactivate us on the importance of our mother languages. A Language advocacy campaign will not only self-guide our languages, it will in turn contribute immensely to national development cum global appreciation and acceptance. Language is the power of a man/nation to development. Seize a man’s language all that makes the man is gone. It is in line with the above that I call on the Government and the International communities to support the advocacy on Indigenous languages matter for development, peace building and reconciliation, in a bid to sustain our languages, conserve cultural values and save it from extinction. Emeskhalifa:Did Jonathan actually lose that election in free and fair manner? #justthinking |
Chukazu:well, your comments not like one who does except you just decided not to see the good and improving side of the league. |
Chukazu:really you don't follow the league bro. the management had a little hitch with supersport last year, I guess cash things that's why they shot down awhile. And supersport shows the big matches not the smaller ones, matches that make sense. Also, there's a way is shared to ensure it goes round the zones dear. Yes referees have been a problem but measures have been put in place. some referees were sacked and suspended last season, some penalized including hiring clubs. NPFL is improving bro. For all matches showing, we are still calling out to the board for that. Hopefully this NTA MoU if it's true, as they said will help towards that |
Vanpascore:Have you followed npfl lately or you are still on what you were told. NPFL over the last two years have improved a lot. A goal scored in NPFL had become CNN goal of the month last year. NPFL stars have been called upon by outside leagues. NPFL records away wins and even draws. Although not as other bigger leagues, NPFL is on super sport and recently have signed an MoU with NTA to show some of the matches. Yes, it's still improving but has gone beyond what you are saying. And for the records, all other leagues do record all home wins at times. So give NPFL a slack. thanks |

amjoseph19:Those in the election process are not IPOB abi? They are nationalist fighting or wishing for another nation abi? Truly, a house divided against itself can never stand. When we solve our internal problems, we can solve the external-food for thought |
DoTheNeedful:My brother, maybe that was what happened o and some persons came up with IPOB boycotting the election. My question now is, how will boycotting elections help when there are still winners and losers? |
amjoseph19:How does boycotting solve a problem when the problem is still available. What sense does it make. We are the course of our problems not those leaders. If I decide to come out to contest with my good heart to change things and vivid reliable policies but with know money to share and bride my way out, how many of you will vote for me. how many will believe me because I'm not sharing the money. When out attitudes begin to change towards how we see elections, and how we support electorates, things we change for the better drastically. |
loveth360:Are you not one? |
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has won the entire 14 chairmanship positions in the Local Government areas elections conducted in Enugu state on Saturday. A total of 17 Chairmanship positions were contested where PDP won 14 positions. This was reported by vanguard newspaper on Sunday. vanguardngr.com What then is the benefit of boycotting the election when there are still winners and losers. I just pray this boycotting has not ended up getting wrong leaders into those chairman positions. I only pray seriously. Let's consider our actions before we act seriously especially when we think we are right, we might be totally wrong. |
This will definitely go into Guinness book of records if it's brought to the sportlight. According to ripplesnigeria.com Patrice Evra has become the first player in Europa League history to be sent off before the start of a game after he attacked a fan on Thursday night. The France international did not make it to the start of the game as his side, Marseille faced Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal. Footage appeared to show the 36-year-old defender aiming an acrobatic kick at a fan on a sideline of the pitch during the warm-up. Reports from the scene claim that Marseille fans, who are unhappy with Evra’s level of performance this season, broke through the stadium barriers to confront him, prompting his violent outburst. He was red-carded before the kick-off, and his side started with 11 players. Any further action will be decided by Uefa’s disciplinary body, most likely on Friday. But fans can over do oh. He's not performing well, is that why you should confront him directly on the pitch? na wa o. Well shall, record Na record |
soberdrunk:you missed it dear. He doesn't do because of their votes. That's his kind of person. I'm not from Ekiti but I served there and I was there during election too. I know what I was told. That's his kind of person |
Neimar:she actually does. I no her personally. Was my course mate in university days. the butts are for real. And it's God's gift to her. |
sukkot:Na wa for you o. USA and Nigeria na mate for basketball? Abi you tu sey dem know know deir papa mate for basketball. chio! If dem continue like dis, one day dem go give USA Walker for deir money . Abeg dem dey try jari. ![]() |

Why waste money for a new one when they can renovate or possibly expand the old. Why throw away money when less of it can still make the old an international standard one? Is it now a competition? Abeg, they should think of something else joor! |

Knowing the agitation of those that are yet to write their test or receive an SMS from npower, I decided to check out their facebook page for update and saw this as posted on July 10th. The aim of BVN validation is to avoid the current situation faced by some of the existing beneficiaries who have had issues with payment. Once again, when the BVN validation is done, a TEXT MESSAGE will be sent to your phone numbers to either proceed to the assessment test phase or not. N-Power NG remains committed to a fair and transparent process. N-TAX and N-Health Assessment Tests will continue. N-Agro has NOT commenced yet but will commence at a date to be communicated later. #NPowerNG |
Sorry if it hurts you. Sorry if it feels uncalled for, sorry if you got an emotional rag but this country called Nigeria is still a kid in 57. Agreed there have been developments since the independence of this country in 1960, there seems to be a place where we are yet to develop and grow, our mindset. recent happenings in the country show it all. From the regional and tribalistic sets of yearnings to the shout of breakups are a summed up of our immature and underdevelopment both in mind and structure. Now to my worry. A festival over the years that have been a joyous and glamorous celebration gathering people of all to a moment of enjoyment, raising sweet discussions and topics of the lightened display of various acts in the celebration has now turned to be an arena of blood, taking lives and destroying properties in Kwara state. The class i heard started with an announcement and counter announcement leading what we now see as a communal clash. What a pity! This shows how we as Nigeria has so become self in mind that we no longer agree if our names are not mention in the golden boat call. We prefer to loose the ball to passing it to another to score. The Kwara clash is only an example to all clashes ever recorded in the country, traceable to self. No wonder we are where we are as a country. How can we grow when the families are still fighting? How can the bigger family become great when the smaller ones are still self inclined. No wonder we still fail to get it right politically, economically, socially, institutionally and otherwise. When a common announcement of a date of the new yam festival now results to a bloody communal clash leaving numbers of death. Nigeria truly is still a kid in 57. Well as believers, I still believe we shall grow and that will come when we leave self alone. Long live us, Long live the republic of Nigeria |
wait o! Is restructuring an APC or PARTY AGENDUM? is it not a NIGERIAN problem? Why should a party be the one to restructure Nigeria. When confab meeting was held, was it held as a party thing or as Nigerians? Na wa O Nigeria, when are we going to stop playing politics with serious and life matters eh. Na wa o! |
abumeinben:Lol. who dey disturb you eh... abeg go marry joor... Lol |
Kellibae:maka gini na. Abeg O. no put me for nsogbu O. Lol |
