PoliticsFG To Pay 6.5 Million For Compensation For Rivers State Killings. by Megatone(op): 5:15am On Jul 02, 2015
The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project said the ECOWAS Court has entered judgment in favour of some residents of Bundu Ama, Port Harcourt, who were brutalised by security forces while protesting the demolition of their settlement by the government in 2009.

According to SERAP, following the judgment of the ECOWAS Court, the Federal Government of Nigeria had paid the victims N6.5m as compensation.

The plaintiffs – Israel Okari, Joy Williams, Austin Onwe, Tamno Ama, Victor Opium, Mark Bomowe, Napoleon Tokubiye, Napoleon Tokubiye, Jonathan Bokoko, Williams Tamuno and Linus John, had with the support of SERAP instituted the suit, numbered ECW/CCJ/APP/10/10, against the government.

The plaintiffs, who were represented by Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), had joined as respondents in the suit the Attorney General of the Federation and former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

Also joined as respondents were the Rivers State Commissioner for Justice and the state Commissioner for Urban Development.

They had, in their statement of claims, averred that armed security forces on October 12,2009 “opened fire on unarmed protesters in Bundu Ama, an informal settlement in Port Harcourt, leaving at least one person dead and 12 seriously injured.”

The plaintiffs also accused the Rivers State Government of aiding “the Federal Government’s planned large-scale demolitions of the city’s waterfront settlements, home to at least 200,000 people.”

They further claimed, “The planned large-scale demotions were developed without adequate consultation with affected communities.

“Njemanze waterfront, a community close to Bundu Ama, was demolished in August 2009 and estimated number of between 13,800 and 19,000 people were forcibly evicted from their homes. Thousands of people, including children, women and the elderly were left homeless and vulnerable to other human rights violations.”

Politics12 Individuals And Groups That Have Refused To Pay GMB A Visit. by Megatone(op): 10:39pm On May 08, 2015
Madailygist.com profiles twelve individuals and groups that have refused to congratulate the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on his election victory.

 1. Professor Wole Soyinka: Nigeria’s only Nobel laureate is a major critic of the Jonathan administration, especially the handling of the Rivers state crisis that nearly swept off his favoured son, Amaechi, and the handling of the Chibok girls saga. His opinions are highly sought after in Nigeria and beyond and many believe that his disdain for the PDP helped sway the south-west (especially the young and intellectuals) vote against President Jonathan.

2. Ernest Shonekan: The former head of the interim government of Nigeria in 1993. He is believed to be a supporter of the incumbent President Jonathan and has never missed any high government function since Jonathan became president.

3. Mike Adenuga: The chairman of telecommunication outfit Globacom and one of Nigeria’s richest and out-of-public private citizens. He is a friend of the Jonathan government and as such was appointed as co-chairman by Jonathan in 2012 to head the flood committee.

4. South-South PDP Governors: They are governors Liyel Imoke( Cross River), Godswill Akpabio( Akwa Ibom), Seriake Dickson( Bayelsa state), Emmanuel Uduaghan( Delta state) and govenor-elect Nyesom Wike (Rivers state – considered to be a nightmare to incumbent governor, Rotimi Amaechi and the APC). They are major financiers and gave Jonathan a bloc-vote during the 2011 and 2015 presidential elections. Rivers state gave the incumbent president over 1.4million votes to emerge highest from the region.

5. South-East PDP Governors: Abia – Theodore Orji, Ebonyi – Martin Elechi, Enugu – Sullivan Chime; they tried to replicate the 2011 magic but I guess something happened along the way. Nonetheless, Jonathan secured victory convincingly in the zone but could not win nationally in 2015 as he did in 2011. The highest the Otuoke -born president secured from this zone was 500,000+ in Enugu state.

6. Alex Ekwueme: The former Nigerian vice president under Shehu Shagari and a prominent member of those who formed the PDP in 1998. He complained sometime ago of being marginalized in the mainstream PDP by the Jonathan administration before Jonathan visited his state for the PDP presidential campaign.

7. Shehu Shagari: With the waning strength of his 80 plus years, the former president Shagari is an ardent supporter of the PDP from the  OBJ days to Yar’Adua. He benefitted to the extent of making his son a minister and then a deputy governor in 2007-2015. President Jonathan is believed to have so much respect for this revered elder statesman and recently joined former Nigerian leaders to celebrate his birthday in Sokoto.

8. Ibrahim Babangida: Nicknamed the ‘Nigerian Maradona.’ He ousted the president-elect, Buhari and took over power in 1985 and later went on to annul the 1993 presidential election won by the late MKO Abiola. Many believe that Buhari still begrudges IBB for his ouster and not allowing him to bury his late mum. He once sought for the PDP ticket in 2011 with Jonathan alongside former the vice-president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and the former national security adviser  and current defence minister, Aliyu Gusau. He is still a PDP card-carrying member and preferred Jonathan to Buhai in the 2015 elections.

10. Innocent Chukwuma: The Anambra-born entrepreneur cum billionaire is a fine protagonist of the Jonathan administration. He is a major beneficiary of the current president’s auto policy on home-made vehicles and manufacturing in Nigeria. Innocent is the first indigenous vehicle manufacturing businessman in the country. He manufactures SUVs, pick-up trucks as well as patrol vans for the Nigerian police force and the Federal Road Safety Corps. His company was said to have donated about 15 SUVs to the 2015 PDP presidential campaign.

11. South-West Obas: These monarchs are seen as very powerful in the region and they were seen to be more amenable to the Jonathan candidature than Buhari’s. On more than one occasion they openly supported President Jonathan ahead of the 2015 elections. Jonathan was said to have held meetings with all the power-broking monarchs in the region before the elections.

12. Northern states PDP governors: These are the governors of Kaduna, Kebbi, Jigawa, Bauchi, Niger, Benue, Adamawa, Katsina, Plateau, Taraba, Kogi and Gombe states. Of all these governors none was able to win even a local government area for the PDP save for Taraba, Plateau, Kaduna and Adamawa despite all the billions given to them during the presidential elections.

Meanwhile, the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed concerns about the dilapidated economy of the country with just 23 days to his inauguration.

Its a pity Nigerians forget so quickly. GMB till date has not come up openly to tender an unreserved apology since the post general elections in 2011.

And yet people are still chanting ‘sai buhari’ in 2015 probably cus they didn’t loose any loved one.

Say no to violence.
Say yes to peace.
PoliticsLetter To Buhari From The Grave Of The Innocents – By Bashir Yusufu by Megatone(op): 12:29am On Mar 18, 2015
Dear General Buhari; I would’ve addressed this letter privately to you, but in the expectation that you may not receive it, I decided to make it an Open Letter, in the hope that you would stumble on it, read it and hopefully feel some of the pains and anguish that have been my lot. Having said that, permit me therefore to proceed with the rest of this missive from the grave of innocents departed.

Last night, while I was at my modest home in Katsina, relaxing and probably half-awake, I heard the voice of my cousin who was killed in the North in April 2011 during the post-election violence instigated by your loss of the presidential election. With bloodshot sad eyes, my cousin, looking apparition-like, was wailing “Gen Buhari, why why”. My cousin’s name is (or was) Mallam Yusuf Danfulani, a bright young lad originally from Katsina State, who was slaughtered in cold blood and set on fire by youths chanting “Sai Buhari”, like they are again now chanting in 2015.

Gen Buhari, in case you have forgotten, Yusuf was slaughtered in your name even though he never did any wrong to you, and even voted for you against Dr Jonathan. He lost his life just because the murderers you encouraged by your many hate speeches believed Yusuf to be from middle belt or southern Nigeria, most probably because of his bulky looks and brave, patriotic attempts to prevent the killing of an innocent Youth Corper, Ukeoma Ikechukwu. Even though he cried out in Hausa and Fulfulde, he was still not believed by those you (Buhari) managed to brainwash to see all non-Fulani Nigerians as conspiring to vote against you. In this very case, Yusuf voted for you but his ‘Sai Buhari’ killers never believed he did. Like you, Gen Buhari, the mob was baying for the blood of innocents.

If not for Yusuf’s best friend who was with him and was himself nearly killed, we would not have recognized his charred body that was burnt beyond recognition. And thanks to the same friend for recounting to us the little he could make out at the last moments of Yusuf’s life, the agony he passed through and the most important words he uttered before he gave up. It is the same words I heard him utter last night from the grave: ‘Gen Buhari, why why’. Yet, to this day, you (Buhari) have not cared to apologize or show any remorse, but you instead offered lame excuses for the bloodletting you had instigated, and still instigate. I now ask you this: Gen Buhari, must you always shade blood, like you started doing from 1983, to rule Nigeria? Do you recall how you killed Brigadier Bako in 1983 just so you could take power by force from Shehu Shagari?

General Buhari, Ukeoma Ikechukwu himself was reported missing that same day Yusuf was murdered by your supporters, and finally confirmed dead the following day when his charred remains was discovered in a hooded area. Apparently, your supporters had dragged him out of the open and tortured him before finally snuffing life out of him. Like my cousin, Yusuf, Ukeoma was very young and an innocent. Unlike Dr. Jonathan, they were not contesting against you. Yet, when they were killed, part of Nigeria was killed with them; the same Nigeria that you are now angrily campaigning to rule.

Yusuf and Ukeoma were not alone. Six other innocent Youth Corpers were also murdered in Bauchi, where you Buhari, polled 1,315,209 votes (almost 82 per cent), defeating Dr Jonathan who scored 258,404 votes and did not even hit the 25 per cent mark. The corps members were reportedly chased to a police station where they sought refuge. But the rioters, who were raving mad with bloodlust and chanting “Sai Buhari”, overran the station and murdered the young Nigerians in cold blood. So, Gen Buhari, as you can see from the Bauchi result and it’s aftermath, your supporters even shade blood when you win; still you have no qualms. Today, you are prancing around the nation, arrogant and angry as usual, behaving like you have already won the election; and thus setting up another bloodletting if you are not announced winner.

The story of Obinna Okpokiri is as heart-wrenching as Yusuf’s. The 27-year-old was butchered and burnt to ashes, in the service of his fatherland. Okpokiri’s own circumstances were as gruesome as they could be. He had run to the Corpers’ Lodge as the rampaging ‘Sai Buhari’ rioters targeted Youth Corper polling officers recruited by INEC for the election. As painful death loomed, the young Nigerians contemplated fleeing to the barracks. But they were not lucky enough. Your ‘Sai Buhari’ supporters caught up with them, slaughtered and set them on fire. Like Yusuf, these innocents are human beings and future leaders on the last laps of fulfilling their national duty before moving on to a bright future. But it was not to be because, in your name, Gen Buhari, they were slaughtered, sliced, soaked in petrol and scorched. Reduced to ashes in minutes and in the most callous fashion by those that are not better citizens or humans than them.

General Buhari, while you are now busy inciting another violence, please bear in mind that in 2011, your supporters turned violent in whole 12 northern states as they burned the homes, vehicles, and properties of innocent Nigerians, some of whom are also Muslims and Northerners like you and my cousin Yusuf. Your ‘Sai Buhari’ supporters also targeted and killed Christians and members of southern Nigerian ethnic groups, who were seen as supporting the PDP, and they burnt churches across the north. One particular attack in Bauchi stood out as most heart-breaking. According to Human Rights Watch, on April 17 in Giade, a rural town in northern Bauchi, ‘Sai Buhari’ mobs attacked youth corps members in the town. The Corpers, who were mostly from Yoruba, ran to the local police station to seek refuge, but the mobs stormed the police station. The mob killed the police officer on duty and burned down the police station. They raped two of the female youth corps members and then hacked them to death with machetes, along with five male youth corps members. In total, rioters killed ten youth corps members in that town alone.

A lecturer at the Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, Kaduna State, described to Human Rights Watch how a mob of Muslims chanting “Change, Sai Buhari” attacked and killed several Christian students, a Christian lecturer and four Muslim students suspected of being PDP sympathizers on April 17: He said “Between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., they entered the school chanting slogans and shouting: “Where are the Christians and Muslims that supported the ruling party?” They had painted their faces black and were shouting that they needed “change”, the Congress for Progressive Change campaign slogan. The mob had all sorts of weapons – machetes, sticks, and clubs. They started breaking the glass on the buildings. The students ran away but the mob pursued them into the staff quarters and they had nowhere to go. The mob beat them to death. The lecturer they killed was Yoruba“.

Finally, Gen Buhari, let me end this letter by asking you this question: When are you going to apologize to me, to Yusuf’s aged parents, to Ukeoma’s parents, to parents of all innocents murdered by your brainwashed supporters, to Nigeria and to mankind? And here is Yusuf again, asking you from the grave: “Gen Buhari, why why”.

Bashir Yusufu.

GENERAL MUHAMMADU BUHARI
“Allahu Akbar,” the General intones as he bows on his knees and lets his head touch the prayer mat. The morning light has barely begun to show, but already there are three people waiting to see him, one of them from his campaign office, who needs to make sure Buhari has everything he needs for the trip to Kano. It is the new Emir of Kano’s coronation, and he is a special guest.

But something bigger weighs on his mind. Someone sent a message in the middle of the night to say that, unless there were any surprises in the INEC chairman’s meetings today, it was certain that the elections would be postponed.

Allahu Akbar. Allah is greater than his machinations. We sat at the Council of State meetings and he pretended to agree with us ex-Heads of State that there was no need to postpone the elections. He looked us in the eye and he agreed. And now if something happens, they will say it is I who provoked people to violence. They will not see the hands of the architect. They will judge the reaction and not the action. But Allah is greater than him.

He still does not understand why they had to make so many clothes for him, with all the clothes he already has. He had resisted this at first, arguing that the masses who came out in their thousands to his rallies loved him precisely because he was not ostentatious.

Tinubu had looked him in the eye and said, “Your people will vote you, whether you wear rags or garments made of gold. They are not our target. We need to appeal to the millions betrayed by this government, to the undecided, to those who have been fed propaganda about the General being a man from the past. We need to appeal to Lagos and make that appeal spread. The people who love you, in Kano or Katsina or Borno, who have loved you since before 2003, will not suddenly stop loving you because you have new clothes.”

He is learning to enjoy Lagos. He is learning to smile, to enjoy the private jet rides he would normally have resisted, to shake the hands of people he might have thought of jailing if the stakes were not so high and this merger was not absolutely necessary to defeat the ruling party. He felt particularly conflicted about having to publicly visit General Babangida, his colleague in the army who overthrew him and his austere government in 1985. Again he had complained to Tinubu about this, but as Tinubu told him, “this is politics, not love.” As Buhari spoke in the presence of the press in Babangida’s lavish living room, the words seeking support, bitter on his tongue, rolled out as if from somewhere other than his mind. On their way back from Babangida’s house, Tinubu said he had done very well. “We had better win these elections,” the General had retorted.

The things we do for politics. This is how low Jonathan has made us stoop to fight: to have to collude with these criminals who benefitted from this government just to force free and fair elections.

Buhari’s hands tremble when he finally hears it from the mouth of Attahiru Jega, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission. He confirms everything. That the army is unable to support the election because, of all the days in the year, they have to begin major operations against Boko Haram on February 14. That his hands are tied. That he would have to give the army the six weeks they ask for. That the elections will now be held on March 28.

But he has played this game too long to have an outburst. Not now. Not when, for the first time, he has support across Nigeria. He calls Osinbajo.

This is all part of the plan. We get angry. Our supporters get angry. They go to the streets and the military finds an excuse to shut it all down. Then they say: Aha! We told you. Buhari loves violence. Buhari kills people. Buhari cannot control his own.

Before Buhari even calls the campaign office to talk about new plans, Tinubu has spoken to everyone:

No protests.

No playing into the hands of the military and government.

Restraint.

They are pushing us but they are within the limits of the law.

Restraint.

At least until March 28.

When Buhari speaks to the guys at the campaign office, they have already created a new slogan. The “FeBuhari 14” posters go down; the “March4Buhari” ones go up.

The new slogan and posters are even better, Buhari thinks. As he scrolls through the new designs on his new tablet, he shakes his head, smiles and says to himself: “These Lagos people!”
PoliticsRe: The Good The Bad And The Ugly. by Megatone(op): 1:05am On Mar 04, 2015
PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN
It is two in the morning, that darkest period before dawn, hours before the sun casts its first shadows. Goodluck Jonathan is angry, his stomach in knots over what the morning will bring, over which direction the shadows will fall over his increasingly unpopular image. He has been told that one of his junior aides, Reno—so junior he barely remembers his last name—has, in a bid to contribute to his campaign, created an online poll that ended up showing the president would lose the elections.

How does an aide do that? Subject me to public ridicule. Anyway, we have bigger problems. We will deal with him later.

He has asked four of his trusted security chiefs and the National Security Adviser to see him immediately. No aides. No assistants. Jonathan isn’t sure whom to trust.

You hold a secret meeting, and before you even finish the opening prayers, someone has leaked that you had a secret meeting.

He has gone easy on the bottles since he started the campaign rallies. He cannot afford to lose focus. The landslide victories of the past have chosen his administration as the time to pack up and leave. Even with the massive amounts of money that he has released to the party chairmen, his rival still has fuller rallies than he does. And now he has been stoned in his rival’s home state. Stoned! By riffraff. But that is not even the worst of it.

Lagos.

Lagos is his big headache. Tinubu, who delivered Lagos to him in 2011, has turned the whole of Lagos against him. In 2011 they told him: Tinubu is Lagos and Lagos is Tinubu. You get him, and the 5.9 million votes in the state will be within reach.

Tinubu.

He thought it was a joke when all the major opposition parties began talks of a merger into a mega party. Everyone told him it was all a joke. The opposition figures were too greedy and too ambitious to all fight for a common cause. Buhari was too rigid and strong-headed. Tinubu was too sly and possessive. As the momentum grew, Jonathan thought it was all a gimmick—that Tinubu wanted to raise the stakes and blackmail him into getting more money and concessions. Jonathan watched in disbelief until the merger became a success and the people of Lagos, who despised Buhari and called him an old dictator in 2011, erased their memories and came out in the thousands to support the new mega opposition party.

Jonathan goes over the options with the security chiefs. With the momentum of the opposition, the election, only a few weeks away, will be a disaster. He needs to be sure they are all on board. That they will back him on doing something to stop the rise of this thorn in his flesh. But whatever is done, he wants it to be clean, justifiable. He does not want the international community to say its favourite word: sanctions. But something must be done.

There is something legitimate, one of the generals says: the new shipment of equipment for the Boko Haram war has arrived. We will simply say that new phase of security operations to secure and stabilize the country will begin on February 14.

“Don’t worry, your Excellency, we will handle it at the level of INEC. We just have to tell the chairman we have no personnel for the elections. It is he who will postpone them. You will not have to say anything.”

“Are you sure?” the president asks.

“Legally, only INEC can shift elections,” the National Security Adviser says. “And INEC cannot conduct elections without the security agencies. If we are not ready, then they are not ready.”

“And come February 14, they will see us fighting, winning—people will quickly forget,” the Chief of Defence Staff adds.

They have barely driven away before Jonathan makes a beeline for the bar in his bedroom. His hands are trembling as he pours the expensive cognac until the glass is half full. He feels the warmth travel down his throat and spread quickly through his body.

The sun is just up now. He is still afraid of the shadows, but he feels better prepared to fight. The Chief of Protocol reminds him that they will visit three churches this Sunday. As the day’s itinerary is read out to him, he interrupts.

“Please remind the Chief of Staff that we need a new Special Assistant on Social Media. We can’t let that Reno boy keep embarrassing us. Find me someone smart from Lagos.”
PoliticsThe Good The Bad And The Ugly. by Megatone(op):
BOLA AHMED TINUBU
“Things change. To refuse to change is to fade away, to die. Do you know how I have kept relevant? Look at the other states, all the godfathers who started out as governors in 1999. They are all either begging for relevance or disgruntled because they have been sidelined. All politicians are disgruntled, but to be disgruntled on the sidelines is to be pathetic. I’d rather die than become pathetic.”

Remi flinches at the word “die.” She hates it when her husband Bola speaks like this, especially after one of his marathon strategy meetings. But things are better now that he no longer feels threatened by Raji Fashola, his protégé and current governor of Lagos. There is no doubt that he is in charge—no doubt that he is, as national leader of the party, also in control of his state. Even if he had to drop his ambition to be vice president after General Buhari won the party’s presidential nomination.

The concession was that there had to be a Lagos person on the ballot—someone who understood the pecking order—because it was Lagos that was going to decide this election; Lagos would upset the balance of things. And so Osinbajo, a quiet Lagos attorney and professor, emerged. That selection had done away with all obstacles and provided a candidate who, as a Christian, offered religious balance, and, being new to politics, came with almost zero political baggage.

“I was chatting to Sumbo on BBM, and she sent me this nasty link where someone said, ‘Is it not the same Tinubu who took money from Jonathan to sell out his own party in 2011?’” Remi says, pouring water from the plastic bottle into a glass.

“Darling, my one problem with you is that, even as senator, you have not learnt from all these years in politics never to read those things.”

“I don’t. But usually when Sumbo sends a link, it is something sensible.”

“Well, not all friends are friends. And like I said, to refuse to change is to fade away. Goodluck is finished goods. A political liability.”

“Do you think he is ready?”

“Who?”

“General Buhari. Will he not also be a liability or embarrass us? Because if it is the same Buhari of 2003, 2007, and 2011, I am afraid.”

“Was I involved in 2003, 2007, or 2011?”

“No.”

“We will clean him up. It is all about packaging. And I think Nigerians are ready. Goodluck has made them ready, the way he is running the country. We can sell anything to them at this point. Even something they have rejected thrice.”

He pulls the temple of his round glasses to stop them from sliding down. Remi looks into his eyes. She knows this look, this pensive pursing of the lips and dimming of the eyes, this look that says, I, the Lion of Bourdillion and Asiwaju of Lagos, will do this. She saw it when he first ran for governor in 1999. She saw it when he told her in 2010 that he was going to unseat the serving Lagos Central senator and make her senator instead. She saw it when he told her Buhari was going to emerge as the party’s presidential candidate. She saw it in 2006 when he said he was going to deal with Ribadu for saying his corruption was of international dimensions. And she saw it all happen.

She is not exactly sure why he even tried to be vice president, a position that would undermine his power and open the Asiwaju of Lagos to unnecessary scrutiny. She wants to say it now—that she thinks he is better and stronger as party leader than he could ever be as vice president—but one of his phones has just started ringing.

“Hello General,” he begins. It will be a long call, she thinks.......

During the third term agenda, Obasanjo was deceived that the allocation of oil block to party faithfuls is to fund the third term agenda. With the failure of the third term, the beneficiaries went home with their fortunes and thanked God or Allah for buttering their bread.

Senator Andy Uba co ordinate the award of the last rounds of oil block by Obasanjo in 2005 and 2007. The then minister of petroleum, Edwin Daukoru was a mere errand boy who took instructions from the presidential aide

The process of sharing Nigeria’s oil block national cake is as fraudulent now as when Ibrahim Babangida started the process of discretionary allocation of oil blocks to indigenous firms. Discretionary allocation of oil blocks entails that a president can reward a mistress who performs wonderfully with an oil block with capacity for cumulative yield of over $20 billion dollars without recourse to any process outside of manhood attachments.

Babangida, Abacha, Abdulsalami and Obasanjo awarded discretionary oil blocks to friends, associates, family members, party chieftains, security chiefs and all categories of bootlickers, spokespersons and cult members without any laid down procedures.

The recipients of such oil blocks will get funds from ever willing offshore financiers and partners to graciously settle the benefactors, the awarders, facilitators and the Commander-in-Chief through fronts. These settlements mostly paid into foreign accounts runs into hundreds of millions of dollars according to the potential yield of the block.

Sometimes, the awarder (sharer of national cake and direct intermediaries) demand additional stakes in the bidding company. The awarder sends fronts as part of the directorship and management of the bidding firms without leaving a link to them. That is how the oil block national cake is distributed to a few Nigerians.

Signature bonuses which are paid when an investor successfully bids, wins and signs agreement with the petroleum ministry, running into tens of millions and sometimes hundreds of millions of naira ,is often waived off. There is actually no waiver; rather a diversion of what would have been paid to government t coffers is paid into private purse as appreciation gifts.

That is why those in the Petroleum Ministry dread retirement as though it signifies going to hell fire. No matter how little your influence, something substantial must enter your hands especially in hard currency. The nation loses billions of dollars in diverted revenue whenever any round of auction occurs.

The regime of President Goodluck is not showing any signs of changing the status quo. Controversies have trailed the activities of the Minister of Petroleum and many players in the Industry accuse her of demanding stakes from every oil deal. It is hoped that President Goodluck Jonathan will remember his transformational promise to Nigerians and endeavour to face the hawks in the oil industry.

The angst in the air is so much that if this monster of illegal allocation of oil block is not addressed, the much touted revolution could begin all of a sudden and all who condoned this illegality at the expense of hungry Nigerians may have nowhere to hide.

It’s more news the North wants GEJ out of the way, so their licenses can be renewed cos most of them are expiring from 2017 upwards.

Monumental injustice is being perpetrated to the people of Niger Delta on whose soil the oil was found.
These people constitutes the main opposition to President Goodluck Jonathan today. Please Read on:

(1) This oil block business is so lucrative that Danjuma’s Sapetro divested of its investment in Akpo condensate for $1billion dollars. This business is second to none in Nigeria. That is why any attempt to investigate the activities in this sector will always be futile. The money is so much that they give bribes in millions of dollars.

A birthday gift or child naming gift from an oil block owner to a government official could be as paltry as $2million dollars, and if the official’s father died, the condolence gift could reach mere $3 million dollars. When they want to bribe legislators, it is in millions of dollars and any ongoing investigation ends within weeks. They are so confident that with excess money they can buy up Nigeria and they are succeeding

(2) OML 110 with high yield OBE oil fields was given Cavendish Petroleum owned by Alhaji Mai Daribe, the Borno Patriarch in 1996 by Sanni Abacha. OBE oil field has estimated over 500 million barrels of oil. In layman’s language and using average benchmark of $100 dollars per barrel, translates to $50 billion dollars worth of oil reserve. When you remove the taxes, royalties and sundry duties worth about 60% of the reserve payable over time you get about $20billion dollars worth of oil in the hands of a family.

(3) OPL 246 was awarded to SAPETRO, a company owned by General Theophilus Danjuma, by Sanni Abacha in 1998. Akpo condensate exports about 300,000 barrels of crude daily.

(4) NOML 112 and OML 117 were awarded to AMNI International Petroleum Development Company owned by Colonel Sanni Bello in 1999. Sanni Bello is an inlaw to Abdulsalami Abubakar, former Head of State of Nigeria.

(5) OML 115, OLDWOK Field and EBOK field was awarded to Alhaji Mohammed Indimi from Niger State. Indimi is an inlaw to former Military President Ibrahim Babangida.

(6) OML 215 is operated by Nor East Petroleum Limited owned by Alhaji Saleh Mohammed Gambo.

(7) OML 108 is operated by Express Petroleum Company Limited is owned by Alhaji Aminu Dantata.

(cool OML II3 allocated to Yinka Folawiyo Pet Ltd is owned by Alhaji W.I. folawiyo

(9)ASUOKPU/UMUTU marginal oil fields is operated by Seplat Petroleum. Seplat is owned by Prince Nasiru Ado Bayero, cousin to the Central Bank Governor Lamido Sanusi. This oil field has the capacity of 300,000 barrels of oil daily. This translates to $30million dollars daily at average benchmark of $100 dollars per barrel. Deducting all sundry taxes, royalties etc , this field can yield $12billion dollars daily for the owners .

(10)Intel owned by Atiku, Yarádua and Ado Bayero has substantial stakes in Nigeria’s oil exploration industry both in Nigeria and Principe and Sao Tome.

(11) AMNI owns two oil blocks OML 112 and OML 117 which it runs Afren plc and Vitol has substantial stakes in oil blocks. Afren plc is operating EBOK oil fields in OML 67. Vitol lifts 300,000 barrels of Nigerian oil daily. Rilwanu Lukman, former OPEC Chairman has stakes in all these named three companies.

(12) OPL 245 was awarded to Malabu Oil& Gas Company by Sanni Abacha. Dan Etete, Abacha’s oil minister owns Malabu Oil. In 2000, Vice President Atiku Abubakar convinced Obasanjo to revoke OPL 245 given to Malabu Oil. Etete had earlier rejected Atiku’s demand for substantial stakes in the high yield OPL 245 and it attracted the venom of Ota Majesty who revoked the licence. However, in 2006, Obasanjo had mercy on Dan Etete and gave him back his oil block worth over $20 billion dollars.

(13) OPL 289 and OPL 233 was awarded during Obasanjo era to Peter Odili fronts, Cleanwater Consortium, consisting of Clenwater Refinery and RivGas Petroleum and Gas Company. Odili’s brother in law, Okey Ezenwa manages the consortium as Vice Chairman.

(14) OPL 286 is managed by Focus Energy in partnership with BG Group, a British oil concern. Andy Uba has stakes in Focus Energy and his modus operandi is such that you can never see his name in any listings yet he controls OPL and OML through proxies

(15)OPL 291 was awarded to Starcrest Energy Nigeria Limited, owned by Emeka Offor by Obasanjo . Immediately after the award, Starcrest sold the oil block to Addax Petroleum Development Company Limited (ADDAX) Addax paid Sir Emeka Offor a farming fee of $35million dollars and still paid the signature bonus to the government. Emeka Offor still retains stake in ADDAX operations in Nigeria.

(16) Mike Adenuga’s Conoil is the oldest indigenous oil exploration industry in Nigeria. Conoil has six oil blocks and exports above 200,000 barrels of crude daily.

(17)The oil block national cake sharing fiesta could take twists according to the mood of the Commander-in –Chief at the particular time. In 2006, Obasanjo revoked OPL 246 which Abacha gave to Danjuma because he refused to support the tenure elongation bid of the Ota Majesty. In 2000, Obasanjo had earlier revoked OPL 241 given to Dan Etete under the advice Atiku. However, when the Obasanjo-Atiku faceoff started, the Ota Majesty made a u-turn and handed back the oil block to Etete.

(18)During the time of Late President Yarádua , a panel headed by Olusegun Ogunjana was set up to investigate the level of transparency in the award of oil blocks. The panel recommended that 25 oil blocks awarded by the Obasanjo be revoked because the manner they were obtained failed to meet the best practices in the industry. Sadiq Mahmood, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum endorsed the report to then president with all its recommendations. As a result of the report Yarádua revoked eleven oil blocks.

(19) In April 2011 Mike Adenuga attempted to buy Shell’s OML 30 for $1.2 billion dollars. The Minister for Petroleum and Nigeria’s most powerful woman refused the sale of the OML30 to Adenuga citing national interest. This block was later sold to Heritage Oil for $800 million dollars eleven months later.

(20) In the name of competitive bidding, which Obasanjo introduced in 2005, Officials bring companies overnight and through processes best described as secretive and voodooist they award blocks to party faithful, fronts and phoney companies. They collect gratifications running into hundreds of millions of dollars which is paid into offshore account and the nation loses billions of dollars of revenue to private pockets.
PoliticsPastor Adeboye's Stance On Buhari/osinbanjo Candidature. by Megatone(op):
Adeboye Rejects Osinbajo, Endorses Jonathan For A Second Term
Posted date: February 02, 2015in: POLITICS4 Comments

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has failed to endorse the candidacy of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammady Buhari and his running mate, Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo for the February 14 presidential election.

Rather, Adeboye has queued behind President Goodluck Jonathan in the election.

Adeboye made his postion known during a meeting of leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) held at the Redemption Camp.

The leaders of the two bodies had convened the meeting to pray for the country and for a successful general elections

The meeting, however, turned out to be for a secret endorsement of Jonathan’s candidacy.

In attendance at the meeting were Adeboye, Bishop David Oyedepo of the Winners Chapel; Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, CAN President; Rev. Felix Omobude, PFN President; Pastor Paul Adefarasin, PFN Vice President; Pastor Wale Adefarasin of the Guiding Light Assembly and other key Christian leaders in the nation.

Pastor Osinbajo was also at the meeting to seek their blessing to support him and the candidacy of Muhammed Buhari.

Pastor Paul Adefarasin was said to have broken the silence when he asked Adeboye who they should support since his ‘son’, Pastor Osinbajo is vying for the vice presidency with Buhari.

They wanted Aeboye to say something and Osinbajo was watching as he believed that Adeboye will certainly ask other leaders to endorse him, but he was disappointed.

Adeboye was said to have told them that he is a man under authority and that since he is under the authority of CAN and PFN, whoever they endorsed, he would support and go with them.

It was then that Oyedepo stood up and said he had prayed and that God was leading him to endorse and support Jonathan and that was the script the Christian leaders adopted at the expense of Osinbajo.

Instead of the meeting being for prayer for the nation, it was gathered that it turned out to be for the secret endorsement of Jonathan as all the leaders present except Osinbanjo agreed that CAN and PFN should go with Jonathan.

Osinbajo was not allowed to address the Christian leaders, giving the excuse that since the other contesting party was not present, they would not allow him to address the audience.

He was said to be downcast as his own rejected his aspiration
