Musician arraigned for attempted defilement of minor

Tunde Odesola

An Osogbo-based artiste, Monsuru Olawale, has been arraigned before a Magistrate's Court in Osogbo over an allegation that he attempted to rape a six-year-old girl (name withheld).

advertisement

The police had alleged that the suspect committed the offence on May 5, 2010 at Isale-Osun area of Osogbo at 3pm.

Olawale, who works with a theatre group in Osogbo, pleaded 'not guilty' to the charge, saying that the little girl was like a sister to him.

But the police prosecutor, Mr. Solomon Oladele, insisted that Olawale, who "works with Danguro theatre group," committed crimes regularly.

The Magistrate, Mr. Olalekan Ijiyode, who frowned at the appearance of Olawale, queried the police prosecutor for arraigning a "mad man" in his court.

But Olawale told the court that he was not mad, saying that he was wrongly accused.

Olawale's lawyer, Mr. O. Ojekaye, pleaded with the court to grant the suspect bail and also assured the court that he would not jump bail.

The magistrate granted bail to the accused on the grounds that the case was yet to be proved in court.

Ijiyode granted the suspect bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties, who must be his relatives and must be resident in Osogbo and adjourned the case till July 5, 2010.

Katsy,

U no know basic math

All 100% na dagbo and 80% of those na Yoruba
the rest 20% na others (Edo, Ijaw, Igbo, hausa, fulani, Calabar etc etc)
So 4 times more Yoruba than others are forgers and that is for UI alone

Only Olodumare knows the number for typical Yoruba unis like Ago Iwoye and Lautech, all neighbours of UI. hHAHAHAH!.

Do some math. How many non-Yoruba versus Yoruba are in UI?

The just concluded admission screening exercise for new students admitted for the 2009/2010 at the Lagos State University (LASU) has led to the discovery of many who presented forged and altered WAEC and NECO results.

Daily Sun learnt the discovery would affect the number of those qualified in each department even as it shocked the management of LASU because of the number of the fresh students involved.

Daily Sun gathered that during the screening exercise, the officers in charge of each department found that many new students presented forged or altered WAEC and NECO results and were disqualified.

The forged results were detected by the eagle-eye screening officers while going through the credentials presented by the candidates.
The officers were said to have compared the WAEC/NECO results presented by the students against records from the examination bodies and discovered the forgery.
It was learnt that following the discovery, other students with similar results stayed away from the screening exercise.

A senior management staff of the institution who pleaded anonymity told Daily Sun that when the affected students were confronted with the findings, some confessed that the WAEC/NECO results were arranged by their parents who paid huge amount to a syndicate to produce them.
On the cases of altered results, the LASU source revealed that many of the new students changed their grades to A grades to get high score in the aggregate for the Post -UME test as well as enhance their admission status.

The discovery, it was learnt has reached the desk of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lateef Hussain who commended the officers involved in the screening exercise.

Both the police and the bank did not deny anything. They merely said they have no idea. Besides, the police officer was said to be on leave so there is no way he is expected to be aware of the details. The Bank does not want to get the press involved any further. Keep on denying FACTS , but you know what I buy, don't you?

More questions:

What was Awo's opinion on MKO?
What does OBJ think of MKO?
What dido Oni of Ife say after the election was cancelled?

I have the answers already from various articles but I hope you will be man enough to own up. MKO was a BIG FAT fraud and as with most fraudulent people, as soon as they pass, their legacy passes too. You can see how ''super rich'' his family is now. BUNKUMS

I have no biz with IBB and he can roast in hell for all I care, but that does not take away the fact that it was good he cancelled the election after what we now know about MKO.

Sefago,

Treachery backstabbing and related behaviors are pervasive in those parts. I only highlighted with 3 prominent examples.

BBSRC has no restrictions or requirements on residency, nationality or citizenship in relation to research support staff funded from a grant.

Police arrest Deji Abiola over alleged N177m fraud
Detectives at the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police on Monday in Lagos arrested and quizzed Mr. Deji Abiola, one of the sons of the late businessman and politician, Chief MKO Abiola, for allegedly defrauding Guaranty Trust Bank of N177m.

Our correspondent gathered that Deji was also picked up for allegedly defrauding another company of $100,000. It was learnt that the management of GT Bank reported to SFU investigators that “Deji collected a facility only to disappear.”

A top security source said, “He told the bank that he needed the money for the importation of some goods into the country.

“There was an agreement between Deji and the bank that the bank would be involved in the sale of the goods when it arrives. But after waiting for a while, the bank became suspicious when it did not see Deji or the goods.

Officials of the bank went to his house and office but he was nowhere to be found. They then made a report to the SFU that he was owing them N177m.”

Operatives of the SFU were said to have arrested Deji when he showed up at the bank in Lagos on Monday for a meeting where another loan application from him was scheduled to be discussed.

However, the son of the late billionaire unwittingly walked into a trap set by the investigators.

The source said, “Recently, Deji applied for another facility in the bank and was asked to come for a meeting on Monday. Unknown to him, officials of the bank had alerted policemen who arrested him at the venue of the meeting in Lagos.”

The source further revealed that shortly after Deji’s arrest, another company informed the SFU that he was also owing it the sum of $100,000. Our correspondent learnt that Deji, who was picked up around 2pm, was released on bail to his younger brother, Agboola, around 7p.m.

The spokesman of the SFU, Mr. Ezima Akan, said he had been on vacation and had no idea of Deji’s arrest. Also, when our correspondent contacted GT Bank’s Assistant General Manager, Public Relations, Mrs. Lola Odedina, on the telephone, she said, “I have no idea. Thank you.”

Our correspondent tried to reach Deji through one of his brothers, Jamiu, at 8.12pm on Monday. After enquiring about The PUNCH’s mission, he promised to contact his brother and get back to our correspondent.

Jamiu called back at 9.11pm to say that he had been unable to reach his brother, as his phone was switched off. He promised to reach our correspondent whenever he was able to establish contact with Deji.

Those of you asking the silly question of why Oyibo should be the one to expose MKO, why dont you also ask why they are the ones exposing our brothers doing all sorts of fraud abroad? I give it to MKO though, he did his thing when other Nigerians were still in diapers and cleaned out as soon as he made his billions, before the deluge of drug traffickers took over. Now it is an all-comers affair. grin
Business / Re: Was Abiola An International Drug Baron? by mekusxxx: 6:06pm On May 08, 2010
It is common knowledge that in addition to his fraudulent activities, MKO also had so many bas-tar-d kids from illegitimate associations. From the rage on here to defend the indefensible, it does appear that some of those bas-tar-d kids are the ones responding. Can the MKO bastards amongst you say aye! Sorry, bloody MKO  rejects.

Lelele.

There are different types of MSc programs in the UK in terms of duration (1-2 years), so you decide what type you want to follow
Besides, I could not go to the UK to study for only one year because at the end you come out not so good so. In mol bio, you need to be able to do so many hands- on stuff including genetic engineering (which helps me now to be able to clone you and the others grin) and on that basis I selected a mol bio progam that runs for 2 years including a number of lab and  industrial trainings. I am not your regular person ok?

200, 000 USD is a lot of funding money in environmental research especially these days of economic crunch in the US. You can google and see how much funds are available from EPA, USDA and other US agencies that fund environmetal research. My group is at the top of those being considered for next round of funding and that is what I and my colleagues are going to talk to them about on Monday.

Again, you are so, so ignorant and I hope I have the patience to continue tutoring such a crass ignoramus.

Did I mention to you anywhere that I got my scholarship from the British Council (BC)? Do you know (of course you do not know, being a complete ignoramus) of other brit agencies that offer scholarships? Have you heard of BBSRC, NERC and others that pass their scholarships via top-class UK varsities?

Just to inform you, good scholarships like I had are not just about tuition fee alone. They include air tickets, monthly stipends, accomodation, cost of attending workshops and seminars and conferences, health insurance, etc; so do the math

BTW, please show me the document you got the info from that BC does not fund courses in molecular biology.
