In March 2025, a state of emergency was declared in Rivers State following an explosion on the Trans-Niger Pipeline amid a fierce power struggle between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, now FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. Reports from a Niger Delta group at the time suggested the explosion was politically motivated, a calculated act of sabotage allegedly designed by the FCT Minister to provoke federal intervention and suspend the state government. The incident reflected a troubling pattern in Nigerian politics: the weaponization of violence and instability to gain political advantage or force federal action. Now, with international attention focused on the safety of Christians in Nigeria after U.S. President Donald Trump directed the Pentagon to “prepare for possible action,” the stakes have grown far beyond local politics. There are growing fears that some opposition elements or disgruntled political actors might attempt to “play Wike’s card” on a national scale — orchestrating or amplifying attacks on Christian communities to validate claims of religious persecution and justify foreign intervention. While a direct U.S. military incursion remains unlikely, given America’s complex strategic interests in Nigeria, particularly in the oil sector, even the threat of intervention could serve as a powerful political weapon. It could destabilize the current administration, undermine its legitimacy, and potentially force a shift in power, echoing the dangerous precedent set in Rivers State.

Some serious allegations there. I've always known Matthew Edevbie to be a thief. |
mulante:Thanks bro, I was only worried because of the white patches that refuses to go, Cos when I googled it, what came close was hairy leukoplakia which is mostly caused by hiv. |

I started noticing whitish patch on my tongue last year September. https://www.nairaland.com/4995837/oral-thrush-pic-attached... So because of that I had to summon courage and go for my very first hiv test. The test result was non reactive, but I wasn't convinced with the results, so I had to go for another test in a different lab the following day which also came out non-reactive. I was told to use salt water to brush my tongue twice daily in order to clear the patches, which I did and surprisingly it worked after few days. A year later, last month to be precise, I started noticing the same stuff on my tongue and I tried brushing it off with salt water but it never worked, so this morning I had to visit a dentist. After paying 5k as registration fee, the dentist examined my mouth and told me the whitish stuff on my tongue is not a serious issue since it's just on the tongue and no other place, and also because it doesn't hurt. He prescribed fluconazole tablets for me, but I wasn't comfortable with it, so I had to go to a lab for test. I was first tested for hiv, using alere determine hiv-1/2 test kit which came out non-reactive, then they did swap test which I'll get the result on Monday. My question is, assuming it's caused by hiv, is it possible for me to test false negative after 13 months with alere hiv1/2 determine kit?

Anthonyant447:I had this whitish tongue ish last year, went for test twice 10weeks after exposure and it came out negative. Treated the whitish tongue with warm salt solution n it went away.. Now the whitish stuff is back on my tongue. |
I had an exposure 1st July 2018, had hot feet, fever, diarrhea and weight loss (No sore throat, no cough) 3weeks later, I have follow-come pimples on my body (esp my back) so I can't tell if I had rashes within that period. had whitish tongue 11th September 2018, tested negative 13th and 14th September 2018, Treated the whitish tongue within 3days by brushing the tongue with salt and drinking warm salt water. Since after the test I regained myself and anxiety disappeared... I've not tested again since then, but hearing @military story is making me scared all over again. |

Anxiety itself is a disease. I remember around July last year after having an unprotected sex with a girl, few weeks later I had fever, my feet was always hot in the night and I had chills also for straight 2 weeks non stop. I knew something was wrong because if it was malaria, it wouldve atleast stopped maybe in the morning and continued in the afternoon or evening. I was scared to go for hiv test cos I was so scared of seeing a positive result. During that period, I went for typhoid and malaria test. When the result came out, I was told I had typhoid and was given typhoid and malaria drugs. I was on apetamine syrup during that period and so when I got the drugs I took it together with the multivitamins (which I letter found out is very bad). After one week of taking the drugs, there was no improvement, the burning feet increased and I had sleepless nights. I googled all the symptoms of hiv and even joined medhelp forum. I was convinced I had hiv even if I didn't have sour throat or vomitting all the while, but I had diarrhoea and chest pain, and I was becoming very lean. One morning I woke up with white patches on my tongue, and I started spitting occasionally. I thought it was oral thrush, I then concluded I had hiv, even when there was no bumps and it wasn't painful. I finally made up my mind that day that I must go for hiv test. I went to a private hospital and did the test and it came out negative, that was after 10 weeks. I wasn't convinced because the result came out too fast. The following day I went to another lab and conducted another test and it still came out negative. I was then convinced it wasn't hiv, and from that day, all the symptoms vanished and I became strong again. |

Abass07:Thanks for your advise.. I appreciate! |
Barcelona10:Thank you. I decided to snap before brushing so I won't scrape it off. The white towel-like stuff only appear on my tongue. It doesn't affect any other part of the mouth. No bumps, It doesn't hurt, It becomes more visible early in the morning. I don't think it's dirt cos it would've disappeared once I brush. |
Abass07:I don't smoke, I don't do spirit.. I only take beer once in a while(like once a month). I was screened for hiv last year when I first noticed the whitish tongue, and it was negative. |
Tsufyaan:Good mrning.. Sorry I've been off for a while |
I started noticing some white patches on my tongue last year when I was experiencing this https://www.nairaland.com/4690977/peripheral-neuropathy After carrying out a comprehensive test and nothing strange was discovered, the doctor advised I stop taking all the drugs I got from the pharmacy and try Taking warm water mixed with salt atleast twice a day, which I did, and after one week everything cleared. Early this year I noticed same thing again. Please doctors what could it be?

Doctors in the house, please I need your help. I started experiencing hot feet on the 13th of this month. As time went on, other symptoms like numbness and tingling followed. Currently, I experience it every evening which makes sleeping almost impossible. I did a quick search on Google and discovered it's called peripheral neuropathy. I visited a doctor 5 days ago at a big pharmacy, and he prescribed Tanzol and Neurovit forte for me. I will be taking the last tablet this evening, but there's just a little improvement. Please how to I effectively treat it? From what I saw on the link below, it seems it's incurable ![]() https://www.medicinenet.com/peripheral_neuropathy/patient-comments-188.htm# |
