The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Sunday, said that it has uncovered clandestine meetings involving the Presidency, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and some security forces wherein the agencies were ordered to use official and unofficial means necessary to ensure victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 21 Kogi governorship election.

In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, the party said it had incontrovertible records of separate meetings, late last week between the Presidency and the new INEC leadership as well as with some top security officers, which were coordinated by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Engr. Babachir Lawal.

According to the PDP, Lawal had in the meetings boasted that he has President Muhammadu Buhari’s orders to ensure that Kogi state is wrestled from the PDP by all means.

The statement read: “We alert all to be aware of this planned ‘coup,’ against democracy again, by the now ‘new sherrif,’ who though, being the biggest beneficiary of free and fair election in the history of Nigeria, is now out to corrupt the electoral system and destroy our democracy, all in the obsession to foist a one-party state in the country.

“Intelligence information available to us shows that at the meeting with the new INEC leadership under Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the commission was given orders regarding the posting of compromised personnel to strategic areas in the state to manipulate the card readers as well as the actual voting process in favour of the APC, with assurance of adequate protection by government security agencies, particularly the Directorate of State Services (DSS).

“We are aware that in another meeting also held in Abuja, the Presidency directed summoned security officials to ensure that the forces are maximally used to intimidate the people with a view to pave way for compromised INEC officials to manipulate the process, alter ballot figures and announce doctored results.

“To kick off the rigging process and underscore the desperation to take over Kogi state, the President himself is billed to be in the state on Wednesday to endorse the APC candidate, Alhaji Audu Abubakar, a man facing charges of corruption.

“It is to say the least, an embarrassing miscarriage of justice that the same President who rode to power on much publicized anti-corruption credentials, would not only superintend over plots to corrupt the electoral process, but also endorse a man facing corruption charges as his governorship candidate.

“Whereas majority of Nigerians have seen through the cosmetic anti-corruption stance of the President Buhari-led APC government, the PDP wishes to state in the strongest possible terms that the people of Kogi state love their Governor and are fully in support of his re-election bid. We therefore caution the President and the APC to watch their steps as their plots have not only been exposed, but will also be stiffly resisted by the people.

“In this regard, the new INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu must note that his legacy is at stake and that the Kogi election is for him, an iron test. Prof. Yakubu must immediately distance himself and the commission from this planned ‘coup’ against democracy or be ready to hold himself responsible should there be any breakdown of law and order in the state during and after the elections.”

The party added, “Let it be known to President Buhari, the APC, INEC and security forces that no amount of force, intimidation and manipulation can bend the will of the people of Kogi state in their preference for the PDP and Governor Idris Wada, and that they will not accept any results that do not reflect their wishes and aspirations at the poll.

“Finally, we call on all Nigerians and the international community to note that our president does not believe in free and fair election, though himself being a huge beneficiary of same. He has ordered the rigging of the November 21 governorship election in Kogi state, an ignoble planned overthrow of democracy, for which he is now leading in the front.”

We are in a state of suspended animation. The phrase, once used to acclaim by Wole Soyinka here, actually originated in the 19th century. Samuel Coleridge, author of the popular poem Rime of the Ancient Mariners, also popularised it in the era of the Romantic poets. But the phrase came out of the loins of the Royal Humane Society to describe the state of a drowning man.

The drowning man is neither dead nor alive. He inhabits that never-realm of paralysis. It is that place between conception and birth, between night and day, between sleep and vigil, between silence and sound.

As President Buhari jetted out to India, he brought to the fore a significant knowledge of our state of paralysis. He said we are broke. We cannot pay salaries. Some ministers will merely sit in council. We cannot speak of infrastructure renewal. We have been both morally and “materially vandalised.” Nice phrase. But not words of inspiration. They are platforms for remorse.

Added to that is that fear of a collapse to recession. The CBN chief once warned we are on the cusp of recession. Then he ate his words, perhaps after realising he embarrassed Aso Rock and himself. But Freudian slip is important because the truth just escaped into the wind.

Amidst all these, a prominent Yoruba politician’s kidnap ignited separatist impulse within a section of the Yoruba elite. The North lashed back in denial, seeing it as isolated criminality. In the North, the army collides in a war of truth with Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima over the successes in the war against terror. Meanwhile, the Washington Post writes a scathing editorial over what it sees as our army operating as barbarous hordes in contempt of human rights.

In the Southeast, the Biafra spirit haunts like a baleful ghost. Arrests and protests reify questions fundamental to democracy. When does free expression become treason? In the Southwest, some jingoists are taking a federal state for granted and installing Ezes and fantasizing about them when they cannot allow them in their own yards back home.

If the zest for Biafra reawakened is farcical, are the agitators for imperialist Ezes not even more terrible. The Nation columnist Professor Jide Osuntokun wrote brilliantly on this subject titled: “A Republic of Thousand kings.”

At the bottom of this, the economy reels. Many are going out of jobs. We crave discipline but the child of the priest pants for bread. When does the country make the distinction between good forex policy and good international trade? When is IMF fulmination neo-colonial and when is our resistance self-destructive nationalism? Businesses are supposed to work in a state of purity but all around them are men in suitcases who cart billions out of the country, in spite of the rigidity of the forex policy.

All of these remind me of Professor Sheldon Wolin, the theorists who rescued politics and democracy from the so-called behaviourists who looked at democracy from cold data. The Harvard Professor, who died recently at 93, proved in his opus Politics and Vision, and Democracy Inc., the limits of democracy. He announced that elections can easily be an illusion after an era of change is ushered in. He said democracy can be what he termed “inverted totalitarianism” in which a powerful few or cabal lose touch with the mass and still use the concept of popular sovereignty to hold on to the reins of power.

So, now that change has come, the problems should not be allowed to go out of reach. When Lenin took over power in the Soviet Union, he doused concerns of a flagging zeal by inaugurating what he termed “permanent revolution,” even though some political scientists have said he was a counter-revolutionist with his New Economic Policy.

If the President says we have been materially vandalised, it is no new wisdom. If a lot of our money has been stolen, what is the progress in getting them back? We need the money. We don’t want a President who will lament. We want one who will implement. If we want ministers, they should be given jobs.

The cabinet is not a talk shop, but a brewery of ideas that the brewers themselves turn into frothy fulfilment on the people’s dinner table. It is still early days for Buhari, but this is the time to inspire, not give a sense of soporific retirement.

He has done well with the effect of his body language. Power has improved, a sense of probity grips government agencies, etc. But like a suitor whose perfume soon loses fragrance, he will learn that concrete actions will be needed to win the bride.

If we do not have money to do infrastructure and revive entrepreneurship, he can learn from Japan, the United States and Europe. They used what economists call quantitative easing. In simple language, the CBN uses its powers to circulate more money in order to galvanise the economy. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has hinted at a $25 billion stimulus. If that is true, the president should not utter such uninspired words. Unless the $25 billion is a hope and not a plan. The point of a chief executive is to do, not moan.

Given his austere and disciplined profile, we expect him to bring his moral stature to bear on all the social issues pulsing from the Northeast to the Southeast to the West. The presidency has been silent on the cattle rustlers. The president knows it is a hot button, and he should intervene.

The state of suspended animation calls for action. So we do not look like French novelist Emile Zola’s Therese Raquin who falls into self-doubt and turmoil after getting rid of the common enemy with her lover: her husband. We have victory but then we have remorse. That is the worst form of triumphal spirit. Like Roman General Pyrrhus who said, “Another victory like this and we are done.”

What the leadership needs is an audacity of vision. If Coleridge lamented a state of suspended animation, he basked in a better spirit: “suspension of disbelief.” That calls for courage to rise above illusion to overcome the problem of the day. Over to you, PMB.

President Mohammadu Buhari on Tuesday dismissed the opinion of his critics who accused him of scaring investors with his pronouncements, insisting that he will always tell investors the truth about the nation's economy.

Buhari, who reasserted his stance when he received a report on the confirmation of the last batch of ministerial nominees from the President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki, gave account of the economy since his assumption of office in May and submitted that "we are so much battered."

According to him, "the economy as I have seen it now since my sitting here for the last four months, that we are so much battered. Although some people are saying I am giving bad publicity and scaring away investors.

"Any investor who is interested in investing in Nigeria will seem to know more about the economy more than ourselves. So when I come and tell the truth about the position of the economy of the country, I am going out looking for investors.

"But I am confirming to them that we are truthful, that we need them to come and help us help ourselves by getting in industries, manufacturing and services.
"They know our needs. The economy of human resources, I believe, will make them come eventually and help us," he assured.

Commending the President of the Senate and its leadership for supporting his determination to follow constitutional provision on the appointment of ministers, the President noted that though the constitution stipulated the appointment of 36 cabinet members, it did not provide for 36 ministries where the cabinet members would serve.

"If I can remember, there must be a member from each of the 36 states. That was why I limited the number of my nominees to that number, 36.

"The Senate worked extremely hard and they have passed all the nominees. I think there is some enthusiasm in some parts of the Presidency today that portfolios are to be given to the 36.

"The constitution certainly said there must be one member of the cabinet from all the states but the constitution did not say I must have 36 ministries.

"Mr. Senate President, I thank you very much for leading the Senate to do this hard work technically within record time.

"I assure you that we will follow the constitution and all the 36 will be sitting in the cabinet as the constitution stipulates," he further said.

Earlier, Saraki had told the president that the Senate concluded the screening of the last batch of the ministerial nominees last Thursday.

He said: "We waited for our vote of proceedings today (yesterday) which we passed this morning. I want to formally present the list of the 18 ministers who have now been cleared to you and that makes a total of all your 36 ministerial nominees that have been cleared by the Senate.

"I was just engaging the SSA to check in the record when last that has happened. So it must be credit to the nominees that were submitted and also credit to the Senate."

While fielding questions from journalists after the presentation, Saraki spoke on the challenges of screening the nominees in the Senate revealing that the task of screening and confirming the nominees was not difficult because of the quality of the nominees that were presented by the president.

"It is the fact that we put in the time to vigorously put the nominees to answer the questions and at the end of the day we found out that most of them met the requirement and the Senate was satisfied.

"You noticed that in some cases we delayed the number of one or two, it is all part of politics, of behind the scene, but at the end of the day we finished with them, that is all about give and take and eventually I'm happy with what the senators have done.The entire 108 senators, we have done a good job and I believe we have laid the platform for the government to fully take off, Senator Saraki further said.

When asked for his reaction to the assertion of Buhari that there would be ministers without portfolio, he said; "well I think we have had ministers of state in the past. I dont think there is anything new, there was minister for special duties which really does not have portfolio.

"I think the key issue is being in cabinet, is being part of government and those that would have the responsibilities of ministering are those that at the end of the day would do that.

"So minister of state is not new. We had it before if you remember that very well. Honestly I believe we need to move away from the small issues and begin to focus on the major issues. I think the country presently now is at a very trying time no doubt about it," the President of the Senate advised.

Expressing the determination of the Senate to provide necessary support for the executive in its desire to move the nation forward, Senator Saraki drew the attention of Nigerians to the challenges currently facing the nation.

"We have the challenges of revenue drop, the challenges of trying to boost our economy. We are faced with the challenges of creating jobs and you know we have some of these issues which we really need to address. These are some of the issues we looked at as a Senate and we resolved to give support to the executive to move the country forward.

"I think all of us apart from those in the legislature and the executive and even those of you in the media, we must begin to proffer solution and put our country in a positive view otherwise there is no way we are going to have those major issues addressed, he added.

Asked why he chose to bring the letter personally to the president, he said, "Because there were other things we discussed. As you can see after you left we discussed for about 20 minutes on some major issues as well. So it wasn't just about the letter."
He said: "I have a constituency which is the Senate which I must first engage and I am sure with time,the major issue has to do with moving Nigeria forward."

When asked if the issue of his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal came up, he replied, "Did you think that will come up in this kind of situation ? No it didn't come up.

Informed Presidency sources told THISDAY last night that Buhari's discussion with Saraki centred on the composition of the cabinet and allocation of portfolios.
The President was said to have been concerned about the position of the Constitution and sought to know the opinion of the Senate on the number of ministries that he could have.

Meanwhile, there was a mild drama earlier in the Senate when Senators of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) refused to second the motion moved for the passage of the Votes and Proceedings of last Thursday to make the confirmation of the ministerial nominees formal.

The PDP senators who were yet to overcome the the decision of the All Progressives Congress (APC) controlled-Senate to confirm the appointment of former Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, as a minister last Thursday, unanimously withdrew their support for the approval of votes and proceedings of last week Thursday.

The opposition senators had staged a walkout from the chamber after all efforts to convince their counterparts to adopt the recommendation of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions which had recommended Amaechi's rejection proved abortive.

The committee had recommended that Amaechi should not be confirmed because the matter contained in a petition against his nomination was already sub-judice and hence his confirmation should be stopped in accordance with Order 53(5) of the Senate Standing Rules.

The petitioners had alleged that Amaechi diverted N70 billion proceeds of the sales of four independent power projects belonging to Rivers State into his private account.
Consequently, they demanded the rejection of Amaechi as a ministerial nominee on the grounds that he had breached public trust and hence, lacked the moral fortitude to hold another public office.

However, the re-play of Thursday's hostility began yesterday when Saraki who cleared the coast for Amaechi's confirmation, called Senator Isiaka Adeleke (Osun West) to move a motion for the adoption of the votes and proceedings of Thursday October 29.

After the motion was promptly moved by Adeleke, Saraki in accordance with parliamentary procedure, called a PDP senator, Peter Nwaoboshi (Delta North), to second the motion. But in probably an unprecedented manner in the Nigerian Senate, Nwaoboshi politely turned down Saraki's call and gave an excuse for his action.
"My president, I will not be able to second the motion because I was not at the plenary to know what was done," Nwaoboshi said.

Therefore, Saraki perceiving that the action was a spill over effect of Thursday's grievances, quickly turned to APC caucus and called Senator Ibrahim Gobir (Sokoto North) to second the motion. Expectedly, Gobir seconded the motion.

Then Saraki put the motion for approval of the proceedings of the last plenary to a voice vote.

Surprisingly, while APC senators chorused "ay," their PDP senators, in an unusual manner, rejected the approval vote with a loud shout of “nay."
But expectedly, Saraki overruled the PDP caucus' rejection as he hit the gavel, saying the "ayes" have it.

It is an unusual episode in a parliamentary practice for senators to oppose the approval of votes and proceedings after the votes have been examined and found that they corresponded with the previous sitting activities.

The Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, has called on state governors to establish children’s parliament with a view to build the capacity of the youths in leadership position.

She made the call on Monday in Abuja at the inauguration of the 4th Assembly of FCT Children Parliament.

Buhari, who was represented at the occasion by Mrs Alayingi Sylva, wife of the former governor of Bayelsa, Timipre Sylva, stressed the need to establish children’s parliament in the 36 states.

She said that the parliament would provide a platform for the children to participate in national development and prepare them as future leaders.

She added that it would give a voice to the youths and inculcate in children the value of dialogue and collective participation that would equip them for leadership roles.

She congratulated the executive members of FCT children’s parliament for their victory at the April elections in which more than 90 schools in the six area council participated.

“This is a clear demonstration that our children have embraced the path to democracy which inevitably has been a course for governance.

“No doubt, your political consciousness will be raised and eventually offer you the opportunity of being valued members of our society and future leaders of this great country.

“I appeal to you to respect the rule and process of operating children’s parliament through which you can realise your dream,” she said.

Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary, FCT administration, Mr John Chukwu, said the parliament was aimed at providing the children with a forum to participate in affairs affecting their country.

Represented by Mallam Salisu Kallamu, the Director, Administration and Finance in the FCT, Chukwu described the children’s parliament as training ground for prospective political leaders.

He said that the parliament came into existence in Nigeria with the passage of the Child Rights Act 2003, which was a product of United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child.

Uyo – The Police Command in Akwa Ibom on Monday confirmed the attack by militants at T-junction in Itu Local Government Area which occurred on Saturday.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Cordelia Nwawe, confirmed the attack but denied the reported casualty figure.

Nwawe said that the command had already mapped out strategies to curtail such attacks by militants in future.

She said the command had also reached out to commands in other states to block their waterways against militants’ infiltration into Akwa Ibom.

“While there was militants attack at the T-Junction Market in Itu, I do not agree with the number of casualty.

“As soon as the incident happened, the police were quickly mobilised and repelled the attacks.

“This is a warning to all Nigerians; if you hear any attacks by armed robbers, do not run, lie flat on the ground to avoid stray bullets,” she said.

However, a resident of the area, one Moses Phillips, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the gunmen suspected to be militants killed two middle aged women and injured many others at the market during the attack.

He said that the militants, dressed in military camouflage, emerged from the river on two speed boats loaded with machine guns and other ammunition and struck during market hours at 8 a.m.

Philips said that as soon as the militant boats berthed at the river bank, they opened fire indiscriminately.

“The militants ordered cyclists and other young men and women to carry all the things they had stolen into their boats.

“The items they stole were essentially food items like rice, garri, fish, crayfish and palm oil.

“They also carried fuel in drums that they will use in the creeks. It was unfortunate that the two women died.

“The militants did not shoot at the crowd; they shot only into the air, but what I believe is that the bullets that killed the women, were stray bullets,” Phillips said.

He said that policemen and soldiers arrived the scene after the bandits had left. (NAN)

Ambassador Baba Gana Kingibe has said that President Muhammadu Buhari has limited time to bring the needed change in Nigeria.

He said that though Buhari enjoys goodwill and respect from Nigerians, they may get out of patience soon.

Kingibe in a statement at the weekend said “The task is more urgent because there is only but a limited time before impatience on the part of the public blends with resistance from vested interests and dilutes the national consciousness for change.

“Fortunately, goodwill for the person of President Buhari is considerable, and people are willing to give him time to reset the country.”

The running mate to late MKO Abiola in the June 12, 1993 presidential election urged Buhari to immediately make his policies clear.

Advising Buhari to be prepared for resistance critics and those who would be affected by his policies for change, Kingibe said: “Looking ahead, to sustain change and overcome resistance, government must communicate very clearly – to Nigerians and the world at large – their core principles, strategies, policies, plans and programmes for change.

“We live today in a world of the 24-hour news cycle: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and all the other real communication tools of the internet age. No leader or government can afford to lag behind their detractors in the competition for public support”.

He noted that there could not be any meaningful change without an aggressive reform in the public service, insisting that government has a duty to instill positive change in the attitude of public servants.

“For the change we seek to be more than a mere slogan, it must also temper official attitudes in the public service. It is necessary to reform all arms of government and their institutions.

“The simple truth is that despite the leadership and vision of the president, and regardless of the merits and commitment of every member of his team, without change in the attitude of the public service, good intentions will not produce change.”

In 2008, the world experienced an economic recession, which had devastating effect on millions.

One year after, the economy began to take shape, with that of Nigeria experiencing a steady gross domestic product (GDP) growth, which went as high as six percent in 2014.

But with low GDP forecast, controversial foreign exchange policy, subsidy weight and strange sanctions, it is glaring that the feat cannot be repeated in 2015.

Activities which took place in the business sector of the largest economy in Africa between October 26 and October 30 may lead to the conclusion that this is the worst week in Nigeria’s business history since 2008.

MTN GROUP VS NCC N1.04TR FINE

On Monday, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) imposed a fine of N1.04tr on MTN Nigeria, the largest telecommunication network in the country, for failure to disconnect 5.1 million unregistered SIM cards.

The sanction, which is the strictest in the history of the country’s telecom industry, is capable of scaring investors, considering the fact that the fine is more than MTN’s annual profit – even during its peak periods.

“It’s the last thing Nigeria needs, given the economic and political struggles it’s contending with at the moment. It’s concerning for MTN and in terms of the wider implications for foreign investment,” David McIlroy, chief investment officer at Alquity, said.

Though talks are ongoing between South African government and the NCC, the sanction is having effect on MTN as its stock is fast declining, losing over 19 percent of its share value on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) in just three days.

LOSSES OF SHELL, OANDO AND JULIUS BERGER

With an exception of distressed banks, Oando recorded the largest loss by any company listed on the Nigerian stock exchange.

Result released at the close of business last week revealed that the oil firm lost N184 billion in the 2014 fiscal year.

The losing streak continued on Monday as the company’s first half loss stood at N35 billion and its Q3 results revealed a N127 billion ($63.5m) loss after tax.

On Wednesday, Royal Dutch Shell, which has massive business interest in Nigeria, posted a N1.48tr ($7.4b) loss for Q3.

Wale Tinubu, chief executive officer of Oando, blieves that apart from the dwindling oil prices, the weakness of the naira also contributed to the loss.



In like manner, Julius Berger had 72.6 percent decline in profit, with Total (Oil) losing 19.47 percent in the same quarter.

FEDERAL REVENUE, FOREIGN RESERVES HIT RECORD LOW

Speaking of naira weakness, Nigeria’s revenue generation, this week, fell to a record low since President Muhammadu Buhari took over power at the federal level.

The allocations shared by the three tier of government fell from N409 billion in June, N412 billion in September to N398 billion in October as revenues continued on a nosedive.

About the same time in October 2014, the tiers of government shared N593.3 billion made up of statutory revenue of N484.32 billion, N35.55 billion Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) funds and N6.33 billion refunded by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

This brutal week did not spare the foreign reserves, as they also fell to a three-month-low, hitting $30.13 billion on Tuesday, leading the CBN to weaken the naira on the interbank market.

TSA FINE ON UBA AND FIRST BANK

It wasn’t also a good week for United Bank for Africa (UBA) and First Bank Nigeria Limited – two giant commercial banks in the Nigerian commercial space – as a fine of N4.8 billion fine was slammed on both financial institutions for breaching the treasury single account policy of the current administration.

While First bank has confirmed payment of N1.8 billion, its own share of the fine, it is unclear if UBA had fulfilled its own obligation as at the close of business for the week.

STANBIC IBTC VS FRC

On Monday, the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) suspended four directors of Stanbic IBTC, with a request that the CBN and the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) investigate the bank and KPMG for “financial misstatements”.

The four directors suspended are Atedo Peterside, Sola David-Borha (pictured below), Arthur Oginga and Dare Owei.

The bank responded by criticising the council for making “inaccurate and unfortunate” allegations and breaching the procedural guidelines laid down in the law.





The allegations were not without its consequences as Stanbic’s share price fell by 17 percent just after the sanctions were handed down, closing at N19.20 on Wednesday.

The bank also posted a Q3 result, with a 46.31 percent decline in profit.

INFLATION, NAIRA DEVALUTION AND THE MANY DEBATES

Respite not in sight as business leaders remain divided over Nigeria’s policy direction.

Five months after the new government took power, inflation has risen month-on-month by at least 0.1 percent, hitting an-eleven-month-high in October at 9.4 percent.

Muhammad Sanusi II, emir of Kano and former governor of the CBN, wants the government to end subsidy and review its foreign exchange policy.

“The president needs help on the economy and it is extremely important to understand that even if you have security, even if you fight corruption, you still need to have jobs, power, you still need to build agriculture, attract investments and that cannot be done if we continue dismissing the view of investors and foreigners who want to bring money into this country,” he said at a programme in Lagos, last week.



Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, who is head of the Buhari’s economic team, has reiterated the country’s stance on the economy, saying there will not be further devaluation of the naira.

In the course of the week, Bismarck Rewane, CEO of Financial Derivatives, said “the naira is only misaligned temporarily”, suggesting that the current policy will have positive effect on the economy in the long run.

Osinbajo’s thoughts are in like manner, insisting that the government is adequately preparing for the 2016 recession forecast but Sanusi begs to differ, certainly the days ahead would be the judge.

Nigerians can only pray that the drivers of the economy are right with their economic policies, else, October 2015 would end up not being the worst economic month in the Buhari-led government.

You can be whatever you want but, it shouldn't have made the FrontPage because of the way it had quickly be taken over by tribalists. And you should even be calling for it to be yanked off, unless this is the purpose you created it for, as the message is already lost whatever that may have been.
