Politics › Re: Ogun State IGR Grows From ₦70 To ₦147 billion In 4 Years by membranus: 1:48pm On Oct 29, 2024 |
covidkiller: There's no growth there.
Four years ago, $1 = N470 Therefore, N70 billion = $149 million
Today, $1 = N1,600 Therefore, N147.8 billion = $92 million
So, the state actually DECLINED from $149 million to $92 million in 4 years, recording a mega loss of $57 million.
Don't allow them deceive you. The state didn't do well. The same argument holds for the 5 East states which Ogun State's IGR dusted. That means the 5 Eastern states are not doing well too based on your analysis of the Naira/Dollar deterioration. |

mrvitalis: Firstly I said almost half IMO GDP
IMO don't have any gas industry... The two were just completed this year and haven't started production
IMO has gas reserves yes, but gas industry not yet but soon... IMO GDP comes from its hospitality industry mostly
Once the gas industry comes up IMO GDP would grow by another 50% minimum
IGR and uses.. - even with the increased IGR please what development index is Ogun doing better than IMO... Please tells us Travel through Ogun State and trace their structural development for the past 10 years and you will see what their increased IGR has provided for them, greater than what has been achieved in Imo State within that period. |

So how does Imo's N8.45Tn GDP translates to twice of Ogun's N5.61Tn? Imo is only 34% above Ogun, though we all know this is because of Imo's extensive gas deposit industry.
However Ogun's greater IGR provides usable funds to their government than Imo higher GDP will ever do, since Imo gas deposit belongs to the federation and not only to the Imo people. |
Politics › Re: Ogun State IGR Grows From ₦70 To ₦147 billion In 4 Years by membranus: 10:17am On Oct 29, 2024 |
mrvitalis: IMO GDP is almost twice Ogun
GDP and GDP per capita is what is used to judge an economy, there is no where in the world IGR is used to judge economy... That's that
If Ogun with half IMO GDP decides to over tax it's people to make 10x IMO IGR thats their business
But the question should be with the improved IGR is there any developmental metrics Ogun is better than the likes of IMO and Anambra with far far lower IGR?
Access to education? Access to health? Infant mortality? Literacy rate? Good roads?
So I think the citizens of Ogun should be massively protesting this rip off not celebrating it Anyone can claim anything on the social media, even though it is a blatant lie. So bring out the evidence that Imo GDP is twice the size of Ogun (with all the industries doting its region), then we will believe you. |

When you get your business to the billion naira turnover, you will know that customer is king.
Let the same scenario happen to a customer care staff or marketers of a tier 1 bank and see different approach to solving problems. Fortunately for him, he is not a "customer care staff or marketers of tier nonsense banks" so he does not need to lick the feet of your hero before serving him as you implied. richiemcgold: Ondo people are too loyal to APC, yet there's nothing to show for it in terms of economic and infrastructural developments. Ondo State people are not loyal to any party. Every different hues of party have ruled the state, from AD to PDP to LP and now to APC. When we see any person we trust, we vote for them. But the present crop of politicians in all the parties in the state are birds of the same feather, and untrustworthy. So there is no good choice among them all. Aiyedatiwa is bad, with no convincing developmental vision for the state, except to be using the state money, distributing it to all politicians to secure his victory. Agboola of PDP has a bad image as a careless person arising from his erratic behaviours when he was Akeredolu's Dep. Guv. As for the rest of the contestants, they are mostly unpopular. |

Mrs Kemi Badenoch said living in Nigeria, she had tales of horror, with screams of neighbors every night being attacked, leading to fears whether their apartment could be the next. CORRECT. TRUTH.
So what's Femi Fani Kayode's grouse against Mrs Badenoch? It's either Kayode is seeking attention or he wants the truth about Nigeria remain buried in Nigeria. Do you hear screams of your neighbours being attacked every night in your street? If not, then you should know that Badenoch is lying through her teeth, and has no right maligning us Nigerians. |

Tallesty1: I don't understand the obsession with sit at home in the South East.
It's just on Mondays right?
Edo, kwara, lagos and some other states adopted a three day work week due to Tinubu's harsh economic policies.
So while Igbos sit at home only on Mondays, Tinubu has forced civil servants to sit at home twice in a week.
Igbos work 4 days in a week, your people work 3 days in a week but your obsession is with Igbos?
Madness But during those non working days in Edo, Kwara and Lagos States, are your brothers in Benin, Ilorin and Mile 2 not opening their boutique, electronic and spare parts shops in those states? But can they dare open those shops in the East during sit@home days? |

The Igbos are choosing the indolent ways of life every week out of foolishness and self hatred, thereby injuring their own wellbeing.
And I thought they were the wisest among the tribes in Nigeria, but by following the dictates of a single inconsequential man in absentia, and his set of inland thugs, now I know this is far from the truth. |
