The National Youth Service Corps says it has communicated with popular musician, David Adeleke aka Davido, over his activities during his service year.

The NYSC Director of Information, Adenike Adeyemi, however, did not say what punishment had been meted out to Davido who has broken several NYSC bye-laws

The artiste, our correspondent gathered, violated many of the scheme’s regulations.

Davido’s enrolment for the NYSC had created a stir, as he became the cynosure of all eyes at the Iyana Ipaja, Lagos orientation camp where he had submitted himself for registration in August 2018.

He had also posted pictures of himself in the NYSC kit on Instagram, as other corps members in Batch ‘B’ Stream 2 swarmed him at the camp.

Just afterwards, Davido left the camp and began a series of violation of the rules of the service.

Other NYSC by-laws violated by Davido include: bringing vehicles into the orientation camp; disclosing official information; engaging in private practice; taking part in partisan politics; reporting late to duty among others.

Our correspondent observed from his Instagram page that just after a few days in the camp, he travelled to Boston, Massachusetts, as he embarked on a tour of the United States.

He thereby violated the first law of the NYSC, which said all corps members must participate in all activities in the camp.

It cannot be ascertained if he did not violate the second law, which stated that corps members leaving the orientation camp should get the written permission of the state coordinator.

But the Assurance crooner did not stop at Boston, as he continued globe-trotting, visiting Philadelphia, New York, Washington DC, Georgia, Minnesota, London, Sao Tome, Accra, Mayotte, Lebanon, UAE, among others.

Davido within the period was also actively involved in the electioneering of his uncle, Demola Adeleke, a gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State.

For weeks, the artiste shuttled between Lagos State, where he was based, and Osun State, where the election held.

But the NYSC law not only prohibited participation in partisan politics but said corps members should not leave their place of primary assignments without the permission of their state coordinators.

“Any member who takes part in partisan politics is liable to extension of service for a period not less than three months without pay,” Section 9 under the Miscellaneous Offences and Penalties, read.

Davido’s manager, Asa Asika, declined comment, saying he does not speak to the press.

But the artiste, while replying to a post on Instagram, said his NYSC programme had been terminated.

He later deleted the comment from the post made by a friend.

A 31-year-old butchery business owner, Mobolaji Olayinka, who allegedly stealing 20 cows valued at N2 million, on Wednesday appeared before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court.

The police charged Olayinka whose address was not provided with three counts of theft, obtaining goods under false pretenses and issuance of dud check.

The prosecutor, Inspector Ben Ekundayo told the court that the accused committed the offence in August 2015 at Abijo GRA, Ajah Lagos.

He said that the accused, a butchery business owner, approached the complainant, Abraham Ajayi, the Managing Director of KAMSAC Global Limited, a livestock farm, and asked him to supply 20 cows on credit.

Ekundayo alleged that Olayinka issued the MD a First Bank cheque dated Jan. 30, 2016 with Account No. 2020278126 for N400,000 and promised to pay the remaining N1.6million in installments over a period of time.

He said that the cheque the accused gave the complainant was dishonoured on grounds of lack of funds in the account.

The prosecution added that the accused refused to pay the complainant the remaining balance of N1.6 million.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 285, 314 and 323 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Section 285 prescribes three years imprisonment, 314 stipulates 15 years while 323 carries seven years for offenders.

After the charges were read to him, the accused pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.M Olumide-Fusika, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

She ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed, one a relative of the accused and the other a civil servant.

Olumide-Fusika adjourned further hearing in the case until December 10
