A Pastor who claimed he was led to a bush in Nkpor-Agu, Anambra state, took to Facebook to share photos of fetish items and name he found.

The Pastor who stumbled upon fetish items and name written on a piece of paper in the bush, disclosed that he has prayed for the supposed victim of ritual. He wrote;

Some days ago after some ours of prayer with my Co the spirit of God showed me a place in a vision in the bush, and we began to go there imidiately while also praying too. These were what we saw and this was what happened after.

A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ilupeju-Ekiti, Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State, on Monday sentenced one Adeleye Ajayi to two-year imprisonment for stealing 600 tubers of yam in Ekiti.

Chief Magistrate Joseph Ayodele found Ajayi guilty on two counts of conspiracy and stealing, Punch Metro reports.

Delivering judgment, Ayodele stated:

“The prosecution has proved its case of conspiracy and stealing against the defendant beyond reasonable doubt.

“On count one bordering on conspiracy, the defendant is hereby sentenced to one year in prison, with an option of N20,000 fine.

“On count two bordering on stealing, the defendant is hereby sentenced to one year in prison, with an option of N20,000.’’

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Adeniyi Famodimu, had told the court that Ajayi and three other convicts earlier sentenced, as well as one person still at large, between August and September 2017 conspired to steal the tubers of yam valued at N150,000.

The crime was committed at Igbomole Oke Farm Area of Ilupeju-Ekiti.

The prosecutor said the offences committed contravened sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Vol. 1 Cap C16, Laws of Ekiti State,2012.

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested three men for allegedly being in possession of fresh human parts.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Command in the state, SP Kennedy Idirisu, made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lafia.

Idirisu said the suspects were arrested by the Nigerian Army on special duty on Friday and handed over to the police.

According to him, the suspects on Nov 1 exhumed a freshly buried corpse from a cemetery at Mararaban-Akunza, chopped off the arm and re-buried it.

He stated that residents of the area got information on the incident and were about lynching the suspects when the soldiers intervened, rescued them and handed them over to the police.

Idirisu said that one of the suspects sustained serious injury from the beating by the mob and was hospitalised at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia.

He added that investigation had begun to ascertain the motive of the suspects.

A tenant, Mr. Muritala Bankole, has landed in trouble after he was caught sprinkling a black substance suspected to be a charm in the compound over his inability to meet up with payment of rent.

Source reports that the incident happened at Magaji Street in Abaranje in Ikotun area of Lagos where they reside.

It gathered that Bankole had mixed the substance with salt and water and chanted the name of his landlady, Olapade Afusat, while he moved round the compound at night.
The landlady claimed that he did so in order to kill her or use the potency of the charms to prevent her from demanding any rent from him and then take over the house.
The landlady was said to have caught him at night while he was doing the incantation and sprinkling the substance in the compound and handed him over to the police at Ikotun Division.

At the police station the police asked to know from Bankole why he did so but he was unable to give satisfactory response as the landlady was said to have claimed it was a ploy to skip rent payment and take over her house which she inherited from her parents.
The police found Bankole culpable and charged him before Ejigbo Magistrates court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace.

He pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor, did not oppose his bail but asked court for a short adjournment for trial.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O. Shomade, granted Bankole bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect the bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 21st November, 2018.

(dpa/NAN) India on Wednesday unveiled the world’s tallest statue in the western state of Gujurat in celebration of her unity.

Towering at 182 metres, the Statue of Unity is a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a hero of India’s freedom struggle and the country’s first deputy prime minister.

Patel, a Gujarati, was known as the ‘Iron man of India’ as he went about persuading all the princely states to join the Indian union after independence from British rule in 1947.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also hails from Gujarat, dedicated Patel’s statue to the people of India on the 142th birth anniversary of the statesman’s birth.

The record-breaking monument, which towers over the Narmada River, was built at a cost of 29.89 billion rupees (430 million dollars).

Based on award-winning sculptor Ram Sutar’s creation, the statue was built by engineering firm Larsen and Toubro.

The bronze statue, which depicts Patel wearing the traditional Indian attire of a dhoti and a shawl, took 33 months to build and involved 250 engineers and 3400 workers, according to the Press Information Bureau of India.

“To build this statue, [hundreds of thousands) of farmers from all over India came together to donate their tools, portions of their soil and a mass movement developed around the statue,” Modi said in his speech.

Thousands of policemen guarded the venue during the inauguration, as local tribal people have been holding protests in recent months claiming the project had destroyed natural resources, the Times of India newspaper reported.

The 128-metre Spring Temple Buddha in China had previously held the record for tallest statue.

The police in Lagos have arrested a man who invaded the market as masquerade to rob traders of their valuables with the force.

Source gathered that when the police arrested one of the masquerades, it was discovered that it was one Ahmed Saliu, 21, that was inside the mask. He was detained at the police station for armed robbery.
The incident happened at Odo-eran Market in Oworoshoki area of Lagos where they were said to have invaded with masks and arms to rob the traders in broad daylight.

This was confirmed by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, and Saliu was paraded with other suspected criminals arrested in various areas in the state.
The police boss explained that Saliu with seven other gang members wore masks, invaded the market and robbed the traders in their shops on 26th October, 2018.
He said while they were in the operation, the DPO of Oworoshoki Division got the information and led police operatives to arrest the gang.
However, when the other gang members sighted the police team, they fled the scene but the police was able to arrest Saliu.

CP Edgal said that the police recovered match boxes with which he planned to set the market ablaze, cutlasses and cudgels as exhibits.
He said that the police was making every effort to arrest the other members of the gang and the suspect already arrested will be charged to court.

When Saliu was contacted, he admitted that they covered their faces with masks as masquerades to carry out the operation because they were living in the area. He said that he regretted the action saying that they did not know that the police will come to the market to foil the operation.

A officer of the Nigeria Police force has been arrested shooting a commercial bus driver over N50 bribe at a a police checkpoint in Isuaniocha, Awka North LGArea of Anambra State.

An eyewitness said one of the officers at the checkpoint shot the driver identified as Udoka Ezeme after he parked by the roadside to answer their interrogation instead of parting with N50.

He said,
“The policemen afterwards jumped into their van and zoomed off, leaving the young man in a pool of blood.”

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, but was not attended to as the hospital authorities requested a police report, an action that sparked of protest.

The victim, Ezeme, said he had no altercation with the policemen which could have led to the shooting.

Ezeme demanded an investigation into the matter in order to bring the culprit to book and serve as a deterrent to other trigger-happy policemen.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, said the policeman has been arrested and has ordered a discreet investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident,”
