Thank you so much Orange1234, it'll end in praise.

Orange1234:

My advice to future IELTS Test takers: Make use of Cambridge IELTS books when preparing, that’s all you need for the listening tests. The audio for each test is provided. The Cambridge textbooks won’t help you with your IELTS writing because I feel the answers to the essays given are too simple. The skeptic in me thinks this may be deliberate on their part. I’m surprised at the essay scores attributed to these essays. It’s better to find out what you are doing wrong regarding writing than seeking to place the blame on the test system in general. Remember you are the one with the Canadian dream not British Council or MOD IELTS examiners. If you are convinced your writing is adequate then please ask for a remark. Make use of Youtube videos to practice your speaking test; imagine the examiner is asking you the question and not the respondent. You can easily download books with various questions on speaking to practice but be weary of using the answers because there may be a lot of grammatical errors. Finally, you can choose to use any of the sites I mentioned to evaluate your writing. I wish you all the best. May God favour you all.

Thanks for reading.

My humble self.

Just type POF on the NairaLand search bar on top of this page and you will be shocked on the result and amount of information you'll get. When you're done taking the ones that apply to your situation, come back and thank me later cool cool
I'm serious.

stepheola:
Please can someone knowledgeable about POF enlighten me about this. I am the principal owner of a limited liability company and I have the bulk of my money in an account with the company name. My question is for my POF do I transfer the money to another account that has my name or will a reference letter from my bank stating I own the account and that i'm the principal signatory to the account be enough. Thank you

I was about to to check my IELTS result and was feeling like using the toilet. Immediately I saw it, all the disturb vanished.

1st attempt was a success: 8/7/7/7.5 for LRWS respectively. I dey suspect that my reading o, but I will just leave it like that since CRS is @472

Thank you Lord for success.

For writing I will advise all those having difficulty, to answer task 2 first before task 1 since it carries more marks and d brain is a bit calm. Also, more important in this IELTS is learning synonyms. I will find time to compile list of common synonyms which one can easily use in writing later.

Congrats Bro. Sure pof is intact as next ITA must grab you oo

Congrats Bro

This is quite encouraging!!

Salute to every member in here that has been making the thread stand out as always.
Una boy "wasseynewest" apologise for his absence all along guys.

Like we all know, Canada na "Pay as you go grin" so man has really been trying to integrate. But rest assured, in my own little way with my indefatigable co-tutors, we continuing with our IELTS gospel and thank God that for every IELTS results released, we do have sizeable numbers of our TAKERS crossing the greatest hurdle & making the cut.

If anyone is still in doubt whether this journey is worth fighting for, I bet you it's gonna be a decision you will never ever regret if you hang on till the end. In fact, your offspring will be 4ever indebted to you.

Bigwizzy,

Your thoughts and concerns are well articulated, how ever, I'll suggest you take it a step at a time.

I think you need to really understand what the Federal Skilled Worker stream of Canada's express entry is all about.

1. If your wife becomes the principal applicant (PA) and as a self employed person, will you still be operating or applying via the FSW route or another different application process is involved?
What's really your age? 50? If you have a degree or skilled trade, I think it's far better than selling foodstuffs as I'm not sure there's any occupation under this category. On the contrary, if you or your fiancée have any degree and at least a year's work experience, FSW or PNP will be okay as you'll need to evaluate your certificate in order to qualify. I can't talk about the business registration part as I'm not into that aspect.

2. In my opinion, I'll suggest you calm down and take it lil by lil, a step at a time. You need both families' approval in that your Union oo, it's important.
Before you go to the registry, please be sure you've gotten their approval, you'll need them sometime. The pool isn't running away yet, do the things that need to be done first before diving. I hope you both have written your English proficiency test (IELTS) and done your educational credentials evaluation (ECA).
These are prerequisites to entering that pool you're rushing into.
Also, you need to understand that there are peeps that have been in that pool for more than one year and there are other that don't stay up to 1 week in the EE pool, it all depends on your level of preparation before diving.

Let me stop here for the elders to come and chooke mouth.
Please if I didn't say want you wanted to hear, don't be angry with me mbok, I'm still your fellow Nigerian wink

Hello my wonderful people,

Lemme go straight to the point

After I realised I can't be the PA due to age, I resorted to using my fiancee. We're supposed to have married a long time ago but family issues abound. We want to use her as self employed applicant. She has been selling foodstuffs for over 3 years and understated are my worries;

1. I know it's a must she registers her business with CAC before it can be tendered to IRCC/CICC. She hasn't registered it since she started over 3 years now. If we register it towards the time we want to create express entry profile, won't it look suspicious ? Hope they won't start counting the existence of the business from the date on the CAC registration document?

2. My family hasn't allowed us marry. They just  started seeing things our ways recently though. Is there a way we can go to the registery & get married without our parents consent so we can apply as couple ? Please I want to know how possible this is in case we never pick wedding date till we are ready to dive into the pool.

3. If enquiry 2 above is possible, please explain a bit so I can start planning ahead.

4. Can we go to any registry or must it be Ikoyi Registry?

5. What's the Noc for a foodstuffs seller? I do hope it falls under any of 0,A and B. Note: She sells both bag & Congo.

6. What title do we give her? Trader, foodstuffs seller or business owner? O don't even know.

Please answer accordingly.

Best regards.

Canada Hopefuls,

Please, I want to encourage us all to keep this thread clean of many questions that are already answered on page 1.
Hannah and every one of us here is still very new to this particular stream and that implies that no one has all the experience yet. I will really suggest we take a little of our time to research these things and also contribute, instead of looking for answers where there is little or non.

If you have a question, kindly read through one or 2 previous pages to see if that an answer to that question had earlier been provided.
God will help us all to succeed in this and make our efforts count. Well done to everyone!!
We'll all be favored by God's special grace, Amen!!

DECISION TO TRAVEL

The decision to travel was made after a close friend of mine told me he was moving to Canada with his family in July 2016. Previously, I was not keen on leaving Nigeria mainly because of the perceived cost of such a decision and the choice not to take any desperate steps to leave Nigeria illegally. When my very close family friend left, I reconsidered my position and decided to make plans to move to Canada with my wife and son.

FIRST IELTS
My first ielts was written in September 2016 and my score was LRSW 6.5,7,7,8. I was not informed about maximizing my scores back then hence I took no steps in that direction. My spouse also wrote the test in early 2017 and her scores were ok...I can’t remember the exact scores now.

ECA
I started processing my unilag transcript in October 2016 and went through the usual delays at unilag. As at that time, I had just finished my Master’s degree in the school so I had to wait a few more weeks to send my Master’s degree request to CES, the evaluation body I used. It took about 6 months before i finally got my evaluation report. In between, my wife evaluated her 2 post secondary certificates with WES and obtained her evaluation report also.
