maniox: Really impressed with the performance but with alot of cancelled trades raise question. there is a difference between gambling and investing and thats why the stock market is more like Las Vegas than you might think (minus the free drinks). people make incredible money from vegas and the forex market this people are not gamblers they are pros. if this performance can be repeated over a reasonable period of thime then you are good to go

The above written trade call was given at about 09:03hrs on Friday, December 13, 2013.
In a public forum such as this one, it is very easy to get overwhelmed by the barrage of trade calls that come in and the banter associated with having different people gather in a single place.

I'm one person who preaches, teaches and encourages hard work. I don't really subscribe to having to use people's trade calls but there are a few EXCEPTIONS to this rule. This thread was set up for us to give ''trade alerts'' whether right or wrong, only time tells. Every individual here has his own strengths and weaknesses. A simple SWOT analysis would show you the wealth of resources we have locked up in earthen vessels.

Traders have a mind of their own and this is true and a good quality it is to be able to make a decision and stand by it. Some others have very good mental acumen and are highly skilled concerning the subject matter. There exists some others that have access to high net worth individuals and can get quality funds. A few others are very disciplined and practice exceeding good money management. These ones can serve as risk analysts or risk managers.

I am of the opinion that if traders on this thread (or a few Nairalanders) would synergize, we can come up with something great regarding the currency and commodity market in Nigeria.

Lets take a case study with the trade call given above.
Assume we had a group where we partner as traders and someone in the group with access to high net worth individuals has been able to raise just $1 million for us to trade with.
Then, I come up with the trade call above on gold to buy at the stated price.
Our risk analyst gets to work. Quickly computes 1.25 * ADR (100) for gold which is somewhere around 300pips. He then checks how much of the $1 million we can put into the trade so that in the event of a loss, we will not be drawn down by more than 2%. So we traded $66.7/pip

The trade went ahead to yield 96 pips. That is (96 * 66.7)= $6400
Which gives N1,049,600 when converted to Nigerian Naira.
Now, this profit came on a day that gold did just less than 75% of its average daily range.
We also could have taken multiple trades on other market instruments.

The group might not have more than 5 people comprising it but just imagine, over N1 million Naira on just one trade call and we risked not more than 2% of our fund. Just one trade call? We could have done say, 3-5 different market instruments before the close of the trading day.

As a single trader, none of us might be able to make this much but TOGETHER we can achieve much more and command better respect for this business. I therefore make a clarion call to well meaning Nairalanders both investors and traders alike, for us to come together and do more with the FOREX market.

I am ready and willing to provide the trade calls. What we now need are fund raisers and deal makers and then a risk analyst.
This is a business proposal to anyone who cares to get involved.

I flipped sides. Now long!
The equi-distant channels projection kinda shows that the 141.5x would most likely be unable to provide sufficient supply to send price turning to the down side. I will still watch the volume distribution (especially that of the 1hr candle that will touch the 141.56 level) as this would give me the details of the happenings in the micro-structure of the 1hr candle.

LUCAS99: Please all gold traders in the house what is the maximum stop loss you use in Gold and how do you calculate your stop loss.Assuming I sold 1 standard lot size of Gold at 1233.50 with a 100 pip stop where will my stop loss be and how much will I lose if it is hit.

Hi bro,
for intra-day traders, the MAXIMUM SL I advice is simply what the ATR (100) prints on DAILY tf. This value is simply the RANGE (that is (high-low) for each day, looking back 100 days into history and then obtaining the AVERAGE value for the 100 days).
For instance, yesterday's (Friday) range was $31.61 which translates to 316pips.
Thursday did a range of $26.6 (that is 266pips)
Wednesday did $39.94 (approximately 400pips) etc
Now, keep doing this for the last 100 days then find the AVERAGE (mean) of the values obtained simply by summing up the values for each day and then dividing by 100.
Let
R1= yesterday's range
R2=range for 2 day's ago etc
We simply find
(R1+R2+R3+ . . . R100)/100
This value is what the ATR(100) has calculated for us.
I always advice that intra-day traders be able to stay "alive" in the market for at least ONE DAY. Then you come again the next day and stay alive again. With each day becoming your new day to stay alive, pretty soon you will not know what it means to get a margin call within a 24hr period.

Now, back to the explanation.
ATR(100) for gold shows $24.81 (that is 248pip average per day). I like to just add a factor of safety to this average value. So I find 25% of this value and add it to the ATR(100) because there will be days when the AVERAGE range will be surpassed.
So, I do
248*1.25= 310 pips.
This is what I suggest should be your MAXIMUM SL as an intra-day trader.
Meaning, your account should be able to bear a $31 price change in gold before life is snuffed out of it.
My advice to anyone trading gold (and please remember, it is just my advice and not LAW):
NEVER TRADE GOLD WITH MORE THAN ONE-THIRD OF YOUR ACCOUNT SIZE!
This way, I can be assured that your account would be intact until the end of each new day.
If you sold at 1233.50 with 100pips SL and a standard lot ($10/pip),your SL should be at 1243.50 and you will have a loss of
$10/pip * 100pips= $1,000
If your SL gets hit.
