Bevista: The Economist is a highly reputable & internationally read newspaper. They shouldn't be using their platform to address the President of a sovereign nation with such denigrating words. We can excuse petty blogs if they do so, but not the likes of CNN, VOA, The Economist, etc. --- I detest the former president for how he managed the economy, but those words by a foreign newspaper is way out of line. --- I am seriously gutted with the Economist. I would cancel my subscription with them immediately if I still had one running. same way Donald trump said America is being led by 'very stupiid people' |
Politics › Re: The Need For The Capital Of Delta To Be Moved To Warri From Asaba. by Metrofox(m): 10:25pm On Jan 27, 2016 |
TonyeBarcanista: It is only in Delta state that it's capital city is less viable, less popular, less active and no historic backing like other towns/cities other than to satisfy the wish of a woman(Maryam). Before independence, Warri was the capital of Delta province. Warri is the city that represents present day Delta state just as PH is to Rivers and Ibadan is to Oyo state. Warri deserves to be the seat of power! Even Israel had to move to their capital to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv.
That said, for the sake of collective peace and unity, the capital should remain in Asaba. The deed has already been done. Beside, Asaba could have been chosen because as at then the 3 inhabitants of Warri were after their own heads due to disagreement. moomoo come and carry it with your block head na..why have you not moved capital from Abuja to Lagos..for your information Asaba has always played an important role in Nigeria..it was once the capital of the country with the citing of the headquarters of the royal Niger company before civilisation could even get to your village..and in terms of contribution of Delta north to the state, it's obviously evident in brain power..the sheer number of intellects..I hear sapele men are very good with dry gin |

the bottom line is, it still adds up to the same direction.....
I totally agree that cataract cases are commoner, but I'm also stressing the point that retinoblastoma cases are getting commoner nowadays....
that's all I have to say for now, thanks.....

HighIQ: don't u know that dental students and medical students offers virtually the same course in the university until part 5. It is obvious u don't know what you are saying. You optometric are not important in anyway, an opthalmologist who is a medical doctor can do your job. Even an optician is better than you guys. You will never hear of Nigeria medical and optometry council but instead Nigeria medical and dental council. Optometry is under faculty of science, dentistry is an health science course. Oau Ui and many uni don't offer your course when we already have qualified opthalmologist. Don't say dentistry is not highly patronise go to any general hospital or luth and visit their dental section and see the huge queue. How do you know people don't visit a dentist. Will someone who visited a dentist tell you he just visited one. Although I'm not a dental student but I must tell you dentistry is far better to optometry in all ramnification. If you. have highiq. and you own a dental clinic, with the help of God you can make your dental clinc so popular that many guys esp in this fashion days wld av visited your clinic at least once to brace etc. No be only celebrity dey visit dental clinic. Advertise on tv radio and many media and tell them what u can. do. I assure u a lot of ladies and guys wld be interested. And you wld av huge crowd per week. Firstly I'm not an optometrist and secondly you obviously are not in the medical field even if you are you might be in one mushroom university claiming medical student..where they bake quacks.if you're a Dr, you'll know that you're not allowed to advertise your practise in the media. Secondly try to be more exposed before making points..apart from one university in Nigeria, optometry is under the faculty of health sciences..Thirdly on the difference between Optometrist,Opthalmologist and optician, pls read up my previous post..Fourtly reading a course is a different ball game from practice so I shake my head when I see dentists living in denial..anybody can read a textbook in school..what's so new about the courses dentists do along with medical students? Anatomy,Physiology,Biochemistry? Mind you pharmacists read these courses too..find out |

Drdonzeez: I asked a question.since, you presume Optometry is far ahead of Dentistry, then,it is also ahead of medicine.comparing Dentistry with optometry is just like comparing Barcelona with warri wolves.Dentists are more respected and far ahead anywhere in the world.I don't really fartom the meaning of private practise here because there are no restrictions in private practise.Anybody can set up a hospital/ clinic provided he has the financial back up and he employs staff as he wants: Non medical persons can establish clinics,he does not practise..In Nigeria ,there is residency program for Dentistry unlike optometry which automaticaly makes you a consultant.then ,you'll be in grade level 15 whereas an optometrist languishes in 10 or 12..so,Dentistry is far better. dentistry should be compared with medicine( No need for comparisons since they are brothers)not slave' like optometry.its an insult. I always crack up when I see a dentist trying to raise their tiny voice..dentists are dead weight..& just attached to life support courtesy of medicine..most people in dentistry couldn't make it into medicine and just want to 'belong' .by the way I was not talking about opening a clinic..of course anybody can do that..but the crux of the matter is profitability (how lucrative?) .and you just can't compare with optometry bro..learn to live with that...people don't mind losing a teeth or two anyway P.S if someone collapses in front of a dentist, you still have to dial 911 |

Lagusta: during my medical school days I saw three cases of retinoblastoma, and I saw five during my house job....
and it doesn't sound fancy to me, watch the way you talk to people so you saw 8 cases of retinoblastoma in 8 or 9 years , do you know many cataract cases are seen every year? please don't let the statistics embarrass you..by the way the way I sound is subject to your interpretation, which is entirely your own doing and your own business.. |

Drdonzeez: From your analogy, optometry is ahead of medicine in a private setting? I don't recall talking about medicine here..I hope you know medicine is a very old and broad field of practice. I don't know how you interpret your statements..go through my write up again if it's not very clear |
Career › Re: How Lucrative Is OPTOMETRY by Metrofox(m): 1:08pm On Jan 05, 2016 |
Lagusta: you are correct, but not too correct....
opthalmologists see more than cataracts or glaucoma....
in fact, in the north I'm sure they see more retinoblastoma patients than cataracts.....
what of eye trauma and lacerations, what of eye burns, what of lens detachment or retinal detachment
or am I talking trash here Retinoblastoma occurs in 1 out of 10000 CHILDREN Cataract is the leading cause of blindness WORLDWIDE, so where's your logic here? Or you just used the word retinoblastoma because it sounds fancy... You're more likely to see a case of allergic conjunctivitis than lens detachment, retinal detachment, trauma and lacerations COMBINED. do your research |

Cmanforall: Not ready for an argument with a Ret.ard. They will drag you to their low IQ state like Imbe.ciles. Not ready for an argument with you. Lol..hungry dentist misleading the general public , try leaving the comfort of government work and set up private make hunger wound you.. Optometry is simply politicized in Nigeria due to black man mentality. In the USA it's a post graduate course(studies after a 4yr basic science course) just like medicine and they are the first doctors to be seen regarding eye health(primary eye care) before referral to any other health practitioner including the opthalmologist. They deal directly with the optician who cuts and glazes the spectacle prescription , they are solely in charge of lenses including contacts. some opthalmologists just try to be greedy and can't give you a proper refraction. Ophthalmologist are mainly in charge of the surgical aspects which even come once in a blue moon due to the fact that most people that require eye surgeries except for some rare cases do do in their old age (senile degeneration)e.g cataracts Prescribing drugs is something both an optometrists and opthalmologists generally can do and it's not so lucrative because most drugs used are not that expensive even the most expensive for glaucoma (3k-4k).. In private practice an optometrist is far ahead of a dentist even in the north where dentists get the most patronage.. |
