Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have killed 3 persons in Dong Community of Jos North Area of Plateau.

ASP. Terna Tyopev, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Jos.

According to him, the ugly incident which occurred Thursday night, left some people injured.

“Yesterday at about 7p.m., we got information that gunmen invaded Dong community of Jos North and killed three persons.

“We immediately mobilised our personnel to the area we were able to bring the situation under control.

“Our men were also stationed in the area to forestall further attacks and break down of law and order,” Tyopev said.

The PPRO, who said bodies of the deceased persons had been buried, called on residents of the area to remain calm, law abiding and report any suspicious movements to security agencies.

NAN reports that gunmen had last Wednesday attacked same community where three soldiers, two mobile policemen and scores of civilians were killed.

Omoyele Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters who has expressed his interest in running for the presidency in 2019 general election has promised to raise the minimum wage for workers to N100, 000 if elected.

The former student leader and anti corruption activist who has been meeting Nigerians across the United States in furtherance of his presidential ambition said this in a post on his social media account on Monday morning.

He said, “Good morning Nigeria!
Our starting minimum wage for Nigerian workers will be N100,000, we can’t run a modern, efficient and corrupt-free civil service without proper remuneration.
Rest assured that we can afford it, we simply need to cut public waste and corruption by 20%, diversify our economy, collect taxes, excise and customs duties, stop giving out waivers to cronies…and many more strategies to be unveiled.”

Sowore had revealed yesterday that he already has people studying various sectors of the Nigerian economy to ensure he hits the ground running from the first day if he gets the mandate of Nigerians to be the next occupant of Aso Rock presidential villa.

But he has not indicated which of the over 60 political parties in Nigeria he will contest on.

I am proud of us...

On 17th February, 2005, my husband brought her home as my house help. She was smaller than l wanted. I needed a much bigger girl, but the mum could only allow her as the elder sister was elsewhere. The only option was to manage her, but managing meant that l had to nurse her as she was too small to even wash her own clothes, the breakable kitchenwares etc.
It wasn't also easy to raise a child with certain orientations.
But l tried. When the task became too tedious,
I packaged her home, but the father gave us a mind boggling question: if she is your daughter, will you throw her away? Please, train her as yours. I want her different.
As stunning as that question sounded, l thank God that l took that challenge seriously and to my heart.
I teach, I scream, I plead, l appeal and l advice...
To make sure she turns out better than she would.
Sometimes, she makes me furious, laugh, cry, and proud, just like now.
From Primary 2, she had gone through to secondary, made her papers, have trained on computer literacy before going for skill acquisition.
Today, she has moved to a higher level. She is matriculating at Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, and l am so happy that our 13years together is not a waste after all.
She has long ceased to be a maid in my home.
She is now Aunty's Auntie, my little sister, my children's Auntie. And no one knows she is not my sibling.

Uchechi, today is the beginning of a new life for you.
We are happy for you. Sky is your jumping pad.
We pray that you graduate with flying colours. And we continue to pray for financial breakthrough so that you do not suffer any stress concerning your education.
Congratulations, dear. We are super proud of you.

The Lagos Police Command said it has arrested a 36-year-old woman for allegedly using hot pressing iron and hot water to inflict injuries on her maid, one Chioma Samuel.

Spokesman of the command, Chike Oti, told newsmen on Sunday in Lagos that the woman sought to hide the crime by dressing-up the maid to cover the wounds .

Oti described the incident as another case of man’s inhumanity to man, adding that the girl was assaulted last Wednesday at 47, Ogundana Street, off Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos.

He said the girl was mentally and physically abused by the suspect by using hot pressing iron to cause grievous injury on the victim’s hands and legs.

According to the police spokesman, the suspect also poured hot water on the maid which scalded her skin.

“On Thursday March 8, the woman’s crime against the girl was exposed when she brought her children to a private school located somewhere in Ikeja alongside the maid.

“Unfortunately for her, the prying eyes of other mothers who came to the same school to drop off their kids, noticed the gaping wounds on the upper and lower limbs of the victim who accompanied the suspect to the school.

“After questioning the girl, they waited for her Madam who had gone to drop her kids in their different classrooms. When she finished and was about to drive off, she was confronted by these women who nearly mobbed her.

“They were calmed by some teachers who heard their piercing voices which rented the air. The women told the suspect to take the girl to a hospital or else they would petition the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State.

“In spite of their warnings to report her to the authorities, the woman stubbornly came to the school on Friday March 9, accompanied by the child victim whose wounds were manifestly untreated.

“On seeing that their warnings were taken for granted, the women made good their promise to call the attention of the Commissioner of Police, who immediately ordered the arrest of the woman,” he said.

Oti said that investigation into the case was in progress, stressing that the woman would be charged to court on Monday.

Lauretta Onochie has defended President Muhammadu Buhari‘s presence at the Ajimobi-Ganduje wedding in Kano.

President Buhari, along with other governors and politicians, were in Kano on Saturday for the wedding ceremony of son of Oyo State Governor, Idris Abiola Ajimobi and daughter of Kano State Governor, Fatima Umar Ganduje.

Nigerians had criticised the president’s actions, saying he has failed to visit Dapchi, where Boko Haram insurgents last week abducted 110 girls from Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, in Yobe State.

The president’s special assistant, Femi Adesina, had earlier said the president will visit Yobe State if he feels there is a need to.

Onochie, on her Twitter, said President Buhari is an adult and will decide where he goes. She wrote:
